So my stick vac was pulsating and i followed all instruction, but, but, let me tell you, they NEVER said taking the sox off the wire, noooo,, just run it under the tap as is, so i went outside to get the sox filter ( it was drying) took it off the wire"so bloody easy" and it was completely encrusted with wghat looked like a solid piece of a tower of mud, if you please, shocked, ive cleaned my dyson 3x now, over the 4yrs ive had it, the "pros" never ever mention removal of the sox!!! Thankyou, for yr very smart and helpful hack , im sure my dyson will last alot longer now 👍👍

I had the same. Washing and drying the filter for YEARS left me with a solid lump of condensed dirt and dust so hard I had to break it up to remove it. thanks to this guys videos on the V6 I have got my stuck brush head working again and now have a filter that works like new… I washed the filter in nice smelling zeflora antibacterial stuff while it was apart.. gets rid of the horrible smells.

Omg thank you sooooooooooo much for posting this. I did just like you demonstrated on this video. I pryed that filter open and I saw the famous blockage it was dust bunnies and dirt, so compacted it was hard as a rock. I had to tap that filter skeleton several times to loosen that buildup. But it worked!😊
Now my V7 works like brand new straight out of the box, man. Of course I had to run the vacuum twice on my living room floor because the first batch looked like an old lady's grayish wig stuck in there. The second batch looked like normal grayish sand-like dust. But I ran it a third time and my floors are clean AF. In fact, my wooden floors look like I had recently buffed them with wax. The shine is incredible.
You saved me from throwing this vacuum out the window and purchasing a new one. Bless your heart😊
    BTW you are very concise🎉

Lmao I’ve had my v8 for like 6 years and I didn’t even know there was a filter from the top!!!
I ran to the vacuum and pulled it out straight away. 1am out here cleaning that filter. It was

My vacuum was dead and this video works like magic! I never
know that I should take off the sox and clean the inside. Dyson’s instruction only instructs to put the sox under running water for some time. Turned out that there are a lot of wool/ fur inside the sox so clotting it. After I emptied the inside of sox, my vacuum revived in a split second! Thank you so much for your helpful information! 🌹🌹

Brilliant! At no stage have I seen Dyson explain how to clean that filter. I used to rinse the outside. Just cleaned mine and whilst not too bad, certainly had dirt to clear from inside. Initially the water wouldn't run out of it until a few rinses and some dirt then much cleaner. Thank You!!

Wow. Thank you so much. We have had a Dyson V8 animal attached to the wall and not used for at least a year due to the pulsing problem. I cleaned virtually every orifice I could find but not that one. Dyson themselves couldn't help. It was just an ornament.
Must admit taking the filter off using those clips was difficult. I needed a screwdriver. But once inside I found a chunk of dust. Cleaning it out and replacing it, I wasn't actually that optimistic but it worked. We now have a functioning cordless hoover again :-) Thank you again.

Very helpful - in particular the tip on superglue and bicarb (so the bicarb acts as a physical medium as well as (chemically) setting up polymerisation, right?). That is a great trick. I often find superglue is too thin and won't 'bridge' some imperfect surfaces I'm trying to match, and I've always thought it would be great if it had filling/physical mass properties more like an epoxy. Love it.

@@waburden The clogging filter is a design flaw. Ideally, there would be a "conveyor" filter that traps all that crud, and then gets fed to a disposable roll - that gets tossed out, once it's full. Better than the "finger" filter at the top, imo.

@@Cyberpuppy63 Design flaws are rectified in a component of Q/A called Customer Service where flaws are identified in the number of support calls and passed on to Management where changes are implemented. The problem with most Manufacturing operations today is that the design cycle is so swift that new models are reaching market before old model issues are solved making good design and proper testing even more important.

Thx for this vlog, hadn’t realised the filter broke down to this level & that was where the blockage was hidden.

Thank you for your help. My Dyson was pulsating when I switched on max power. This issue had vanished after I cleaned the hepa filter. I like your British accent.

Well done, sir! Short video, straight to the point. My V8 was pulsing and you showed me quickly how to fix it. I guess it pays to RTFM. Thank you so much. You made my day. :-)

Awesome!!! Thank you a lot for this incredibly helpful video, I've been on the completely wrong lane, regarding the pulsing problem! Was about to buy a new battery, as I was thinking it was just dead... And now I just cleaned the stupid filter sock - it was totally filled up with dirt and I didn't even realised it till now :P

Thanks for the filter cleaning tip. The amount of c**p in the centre of my "clean" filter was unbelievable. My Dyson is back to it's best.

I have one of these - glad I watched this video. Now I know to clean it. Two things I do hate about it though is the trigger and very short battery life other than it's an expensive vacuum for touch ups. I have an upright dyson ball for the big jobs and really like it. Thanks for the tips...

Sorry to say for the price tag for dysons (cordless) is too expensive. We have had a few people we know HATE them, from the catcher opening, poor battery life, poor after sales support and a few other small issues.
I LOVE my old dyson DC08, replaced the bushes, and power switch and it still goes, we use it 3-4 times a week and we have now had it for about 16-17 years.

    Great video, many thanks.
I had the pulsing going on with my V6, and knew the issue was the filter because the pulsing didn’t happen when I removed the filter and tugged on the trigger. But I never realized the filter could be washed, was about to order another one.
