I've owned 4 Dysons (2 cordless handheld, and 2 large floor vacs) and have taken great care of them all. After about 3-4 years of light usage (approx once a week), every single one of them has randomly broke. The cordless ones both just stopped working, no power, no lights, nada. I do quite enjoy the products, but it's starting to get annoying. Usually when you take great care of something, you'll get a lot more usage out of it.
A lot of problems can be solved by regularly cleaning the Dyson body with compressed air! You will be amazed by how much dirt will be blown out all of the crevices. I have used the stronger machines that you can use to inflate a car tire but these are really making a lot of noise, so, after a few months I bought a handheld compressed air unit with battery, that is charged via USB adapter. Works like a charm and is extremely handy. Remove the filter from the body also, and blow the compressed air on that end to clean it. I also blow air through my filter, thus cleaning this very regularly. We have the V11 (SV14) Animal for 3.5 years, and still works perfectly - but you must do this maintenance on it! As we have dogs in the house, where we do daily long walks with, you'll understand that a lot of dirt is coming in the house. A last thing, do this blowing of compressed air outside the house, as a lot of dust will come out of it.
Hi, After taking the bin off, I shook & banged it upside down & the multiple holes near the end were blocked! After several bangs & shakes, years of dust came out. My vacuum stopped charging once, I ordered a new main unit under the warranty and now after a single use the battery is drained and it is not charging again. This entire thing might go back to Costco. Dyson is really really really an overpriced piece of dunk at this moment. I used to have multiple dyson vacuums and they worked fine for many years but now they lowered their standards to the floor and are not worth it at all. How to fix your broken car? Take it to the junkyard, take out all your personal belongings, buy a second hand car, put your belongings in and you are done. This guy
Wash filter, shake dry. Leave to air dry for 24 hours. If you can't wait 24 hours, hold dyson facing up so air filter is facing the ground, screw on air filter, turn on vacuum for 5-10 minutes. The large volume of air blowing through will dry it faster. Main thing is you don't put it back on holder till it's absolutely dry cause water will travel down. Of course it doesn't hurt to play it safe and just buy a second air filter, when it's time to wash, wash and use your spare. By the time it's time to wash again, you're spare is good to go!
I bought my Dyson because other family members had such a good experience with their Dyson vacuums. Unfortunately, my Dyson vacuum works occasionally. I clean the filter, which takes at least two or three days to dry and I empty the cylinder after every use. It doesn’t have very good suction. I had to go and buy another vacuum. If anyone is thinking about buying one of these vacuums read all of the reviews. The price is a deterrent for most people and really they are not worth it. Sorry that this post is so negative, but I was looking up how to troubleshoot and saw this video. Go buy a bissell, they are heavy but at least they work and are not as frustrating as a dyson!
Most finicky and most expensive cordless vc in the market. I've had 4 in the last 2 years and worked for a few months, then stopped. As this guy said, best way to fix it is to throw them into the garbage can and purchase a new one.
I would be extremely unhappy if my vacuum stopped working after just three years! And replacing the body seems a very expensive option. I have only had one Dyson vacuum, v6, and it stopped working after 2 years needing a new battery. The astronomical cost of new Dysons is ridiculous when they only last three years
EBay has all the parts you would need for repairing without needing to buy the complete body. Really not hard to disassemble that vacuum completely with a couple of tools and UA-cam tutorials. Basic Torx 8 and number 10 as well as a Philips screwdriver.
I have a V11 and noticed that the voltage adaptor had come partially out of the wall socket and there were no led's showing anywhere, even when I plugged it back in. So I removed the three small Phillips head screws, removed the battery, pressed the reset button a couple of times and then replaced the battery. When I put the vacuum back on the charging cradle the charging screen lit up and showed that it was charging.
I did the same thing to my V11.... no you don't need the main body at all. What you do need is a #1 Phillips screwdriver and a T8 torx driver. Remove the filter and let dry complex, remove the back of the main body from the front of the main body. Use the T8 torx driver to remove the 2 torx screws holding the motor in and let it sit out for a day or 2 in the highest and warmest place in your house (usually top floor of your house or attic). This is generally going to be much easier and faster in the summer if you don't use AC throughout your entire house I.E. central air or in the winter when you run the heat. If you do have central air find the room with the return air vent location (the one with the vent filter) and leave it in that room instead since it will act as a dehumidifier. Unless you put the filter in extremely soaked it's a minimal amount of moisture you got into the wrong places to ever get moisture inside if you stopped quickly. Also stuff a dry sponge down the inner tube between the motor and the screen that runs inside the filter. Should help the wicking process (one without the green/blue scruff pad preferably and not a damn magic erase sponge 🤣
How about this. Battery is fully charged. Screen functions work however pressing the trigger down does nothing. No motor operations, from either the powerbrush or main motor with no blockage anywhere. No flashing LED on my absolute pro v11.
It can depend how old the vacuum is, because if its around 3 - 4 years and still on the original battery then even though it says its fully charged it could be a faulty battery. It may have enough power to show the display but not to enable the suction. I would try a new battery first.
Found out there was a little moisture in it. As a last resort I used silica gel packs inside the dust bin end of the vacuum and the rectangular opening on the cyclone canister and bottom. Put at least 10 in the bin. Left it in there for a few hours. Took them out and it worked again

I didn't let the filter dry long enough before putting it back on so now it won't turn on and the blue lights are flashing on battery. Does that mean I need to replace body and battery? Thank you
It could more than likely mean the motor is damaged if it has water in it. It will more than likely need a new body not necessarily a new battery though
I did the same thing to my V11. Ruined the motor and bricked the battery. The water gets into the display connector on the motor PCB. I scored a 2nd hand motor on ebay for $100 and $199 for new battery with charger from Dyson.
v11's are notorious for faulty switch. made of plastic and they crack which stops it from applying the pressure to the battery to run it. Cost is about $15 but spend an extra 5 for a metal replacement one.
It’s amazing for such an expensive vacuum, it would be so hard to maintain it after cleaning. Now I came to understand, Dyson is just an expensive garbage. This sounds like a battery issue, if its been charging for sometime but not operating. Depending how long youve had it, if its under 2 years i would contact Dyson themselves to sort it, if its over 2 years i would try a new battery as it will be a lot cheaper than buying a new vacuum.
Sometimes if you push the battery up first quite firmly, then try and remove it, that can help. Also just make sure there are no screws holding the battery in place too as some models have a couple of screws to remove first.

I made same mistake, washed filter and after two days I put back ( still wet ). From then Vacuum did not work at all ( I did not know filter mast be perfectly dray ). I decided to put head of the vacuum on the floor ( I have floor heating ) and filter separately, after ten days laying on the worm floor ...I put filter back and vacuum started to work.
You are essentially still throwing the vacuum away all you really did was move over the filter, bin and battery the actual working part is being tossed depending on your budget and pricing it may be best just to purchase new with a warranty
We have a V11 that is 3 years old and doesn’t turn on. It came with an SV15 battery which is different from the other batteries used on the V11. Its attached differently to the main body from the others and the circuit board inside is sealed, one cannot open the sealed area to detach the two wires on 2 posts which lead to the battery on one side and the motor on the other. So It’s impossible for me to replace the trigger ( if it is the trigger that is the problem and I don’t think it is). I am at a dead end I will have to throw it out and know I will not waste my money on another one!
I do not see that as a fix. You have just essentially replaced the whole machine. The main motor and trigger etc is in that part! What a waste of materials for that to go into landfill.
My V11 turns on for about 10 seconds and then turns off.. I’ve cleaned the filters and waited 2 days for complete dry.. Too much money for a vacuum to last only 3 years..
Throw it away!? It costs a fortune.. luckily i still have warranty running, but i didn’t expect any issues with suck advertised machine so soon for sure.. and i didn’t insert wet filter or anything..
So anything in the house or in the garage something is not working just throw in the trash and buy new one and you fix the problem is it every body in England dam as this guy.
My dyson V15 doesn't work well these days. It is cleaned, the battery charged, the screen shows something, but it does not run and has no sound, the battery light is not blinking either, only if I remove the battery and plug it in again, it works as strong as usual. Do you guys have any idea? To change the battery? Thanks in advance!
I have an issue that my V15 when I pick it up after a while to vacume shows on display last vacuming data and until i reinsert the battery it wount start. What could be wrong?
It's not how to fix the Dyson, it's how to buy a new cyclone and motor, although you don't have to buy all these parts together, you can buy just the motor, it looks like engine problems and put on the old cyclone, which is a total of six screws to take out, it just confuses the mind, a video of a waste of time
What's that..... How to repair a Dyson by getting a new used one????? That's not a repair at all, it's a replacement

I made same mistake, washed filter and after two days I put back ( still wet ). From then Vacuum did not work at all ( I did not know filter mast be perfectly dray ).
I decided to put head of the vacuum on the floor ( I have floor heating ) and filter separately, after ten days laying on the worm floor ...I put filter back and vacuum started to work.
i'm going to try this because i did the same thing. they should have a warning message inside the filter housing so people don't do this.
Just to say HI and to ask did you my advise helped you?@@Eyman754
Wow that was a quite different and very useful video. Thanks 👍🏼
How would one know for sure that the body needs replacing??
Most of the time if you have the screen displaying something but it's not switching on then that's a classic sign the body needs replacing.
For me the lcd is ob but the motor isnt starting if i pull the triger
Same here. LCD works but motor not starting. 3 yr old V11 new body part is no longer available from Dyson.
I agree it is frustrating, but certainly better than buying a whole new vacuum which unfortunately some people are doing
I wonder which is most Powerful, ergonomic, lightwt
Cordless Vac 🤔
High motor failures for Dyson v11 prompted Dyson to discontinue this product. Also the failed motor/body is no longer available for purchase.
I live in New York and the power button isn’t working
My V11 turns on for about 10 seconds and then turns off.. I’ve cleaned the filters and waited 2 days for complete dry.. Too much money for a vacuum to last only 3 years..
Throw it away!? It costs a fortune.. luckily i still have warranty running, but i didn’t expect any issues with suck advertised machine so soon for sure.. and i didn’t insert wet filter or anything..
So anything in the house or in the garage something is not working just throw in the trash and buy new one and you fix the problem is it every body in England dam as this guy.
Mine just quit and it doesn't even have any lights.
If there are no lights, it could more than likely be the battery to start with.
@@lords-electrical can that be replaced?
5:25 this kind of a waste of time and it’s also kind of helpful
Thank you for such a helpful video
Glad it was helpful for you, thanks for the feedback
u didn't say how to repair it
My dyson V15 doesn't work well these days. It is cleaned, the battery charged, the screen shows something, but it does not run and has no sound, the battery light is not blinking either, only if I remove the battery and plug it in again, it works as strong as usual. Do you guys have any idea? To change the battery? Thanks in advance!
I would try changing the battery first but then it could just be a new body required.
Is that the star wars giy?
"How to fix"!! Buying a replacement is not fixing it.
Agreed my thoughts exactly
You did fix you replace the body
The most disgusting prod from Dyson with no quality control
not a repair not even close
😂 so you buy new main motor body, replace !! Not repair
This isn't an actual repair the price is about about $450 AUD currently a black mark on the company Indeed
Yes waste of my time..hoping to find meaning of symbols..what does 2 white little circles designate?
Ah here! How is that repair? Anyone can go out and buy a new part.
I have an issue that my V15 when I pick it up after a while to vacume shows on display last vacuming data and until i reinsert the battery it wount start. What could be wrong?
😅 let's see if it works
Me
what a complete waste of time!!!
So basically buy a new one
Almost, yes
Hey corc keske nadil onarilir onu dese idin bi kadarini bizde biliyoz bosuna izledik seni
You actually published this video?!? How embarrassing.
👍
A new body, sir that's a new vacuum and not very clever.
You didn’t fix it you literally bought another one 😂🤦🏽♂️
Is this joke?? Repair???!!
Dude... 😂
Um why the hell did i watch this video if ur just replacing the part
Wtf
what a waste of my valuable time.
alot of talking to get to the point
The worst vacuum ever . Don’t waste your money on it
My V15 completely died after two uses. Absolute garbage
That's annoying to hear, i hope Dyson have sorted this out for you.
Solution: buy a new one... wow!
So buying another crap Dyson , no repair WTF .
Is this a joke ?
Absolute waste of my time😡
Is it a joke??
Que coño dice el tío este
It's not how to fix the Dyson, it's how to buy a new cyclone and motor, although you don't have to buy all these parts together, you can buy just the motor, it looks like engine problems and put on the old cyclone, which is a total of six screws to take out, it just confuses the mind, a video of a waste of time
🙈🙈😅
אפשר תרגום בעברית
I’m sure you didn’t fix anything you just got an new one and put the bin and battery on it. I just wasted minutes of my life watching this crap.
😂😂😂😂 but you didn’t fix it, you replaced it with new after saying your didn’t want to throw it away, which is exactly what you did! Waste of air time!
The most useless video, thanks for wasting my time…
