I'm 80 years old. My vacuum looked very very dirty all over. I looked at your video last night and followed your instructions carefully. This morning I put the whole thing together and lordy lordy it looks like new and works perfectly. Thanks for saving my sanity.
I called Dyson to find a service center than still offers cleaning services and they don’t have anymore but they said they would email me some step by step videos to take it apart and clean it. The videos were so unhelpful so I came to UA-cam and MAN your video is so awesome! Dyson should pay you and send your link out not the nonsense they sent me
The air compressor idea mentioned in the comments worked very well. I also used it to clean up cleaning head. This video was helpful to show me how to get the brush out of the head. When I did that, I discovered there was a piece of paper clogging the intake tube. I would also encourage you to take the cloth part of the removable filter off the plastic frame when you rinse it out. I had been rinsing it as demonstrated in the video. However, when I removed the cloth part of the filter, I discovered there was caked dirt inside it as a result of rinsing. Once I removed the clump of dirt, let the filter dry and removed the paper and dirt clogging the intake tube the machine works like new.
I followed the tutorial for my one year V6, as i never took the deeper part off. He's now running perfectly like i bought it yesterday. If you do this carrefuly, no need to be worried about. Thank you for the great video !
This video has kept my Dyson 6 going for years. I watch it every time I have to clean the vacuum. I live in Sedona, Arizona, where it is dry and dusty all the time. Thank you for helping a very unhandy American!
I have looked at several videos of people cleaning Dyson vacuums of various models and what is interesting is that Dyson's instructions do not show or recommend detailed cleaning of this sort! I believe Dyson underestimates just how dirty their machines become and one can only clean them by disassembly which Dyson does not endorse at all! Thanks for showing this.
A very clear, concise and demonstrative Dyson dc59 cleaning video that solved my problems in less than an hour. You are an excellent trainer, communicator and problem solver. Thanks so much for the money saving tips.
Thank you for posting this video. I recently purchased a second hand Dyson V6 which had been fairly well used and plenty of caked dust up around the inner bin and dust cover. Decided to go ahead and follow this video to do my own cleaning with no prior experience or great engineering knowledge, just this video and common sense with a few small make up brushes. Took my time and used blunt plastic pry tool rather than metal head screwdriver to reduce wear and scratches. All went smoothly no problems at all, removed all dust and used alcohol solution to clean non electrical parts and dried with microfiber. Put everything back together and it's good as new. I agree with comment about repetition of this process may well weaken the plastic and allow gaps for greater dust intake. Parts for this are relatively low cost now though on ebay due to the age. Worked for me thanks 👍
Thank you so much for a clear and very useful instruction video. My 6 year old Dyson had begun stopping intermittently and we thought it might be the filter but on taking it to bits there was a lot of dirt trapped in various areas. Thoroughly cleaned apart from taking the (pink in my case) large head to bits as it just wouldn’t move and I was scared to break that. Everything else cleaned, filter, brush head etc etc and now drying overnight. Can’t wait to see how my very clean Dyson works tomorrow. Thanks again.
This whole time I would take a paper towel and try to get the extra crap out I never knew pressing the button down more releases the entire tube. Thanks!
This is why engineers and 3-year-olds fiddle with everything we can get our hands on. You can learn a lot by pressing buttons repeatedly to see what happens.
OMG! I was WONDERING how on earth to get one of those pieces open for years. Lol. I was afraid I’d break it. You did do well instructing and are pleasant to listen to.
Great video, thx. I give my Dyson a deep clean once/twice a year. For anyone having a fluffy head few tips... the detachable rollers on the Fluffy are machine washable, really brings them back to life. For the main plastic housing vacuum out the dust, then use wipes and the back of a spoon to dig into all the nooks and crannies, really lifts out all the dirt... just be gentle, especially around the motor and you'll end up with a Dyson as good as new!
I’ve cleaned mine today after having had it for 3 years...I have cleaned the bits it tells you but it always still smells awful, I disassembled the cyclone as you have shown and it now smells brand new... I have been contemplating buying a new vacuum because of the smell. A new rear plate and brush for the bottom and my work here is done.. 🙏
The filter probably has pet hair inside it. Remove it from it's plastic mount (outside or over a trash can cuz it gonna have more fine dust and hair) and rinse and dry it again
Regardless of what Dyson recommends it is much better to dissemble the center filter rather than just rinsing it as shown. Depending on your circumstances there can be lots of hair, debris inside the filter bag which can only be removed by separating the filter from the plastic frame.

......if you're chasing down an odor...a more thorough cleaning is in order. The clam shell at the top has to cleaned too. The finest particles will cake on the surfaces in there. You'll need a hex screwdriver.
I know I already thanked you for this video. It saved me from buying a new one or, worse yet, a vacuum cleaner that uses bags. The filter around the central unit was extremely dirty and dusty and. I cleaned everything out really well using a toothbrush and warm water. Let everything dry for two days. And it worked. Before, it had said it was charged though it only ran two strokes before saying the battery was dead again. Thank you again so much.
No problem, its great to know that some of the content i produce is helpful like this, and if it save you having to buy a new vacuum then all the better. Well done and thanks again for the feedback.
Thanks so much for taking the time and effort to post this incredibly helpful video. I would never in a million years have had the guts to remove that inner blue part without seeing you doing it. While I was struggling with getting it removed from all of the clips I could hear your voice in my head saying "be careful and have patience".
This was very helpful! My Dyson V6 is working so much better. I did go a bit further in removing parts, just needed a long handled T10 torx screwdriver. This has solved my problems of the motor cutting in and out endlessly. So much fine dirt//dust in the innards. Also saw that my motorhead brush was worn down to nothing and after your simple tutorial, was able to remove/clean it while awaiting a replacement brush from Amazon. Many thanks!
@@pilotjim4595 Oops, had occasion today to another cleaning. You are correct! It's the T7 that's needed to get off the screws. Sorry for the confusion. Clean on..
A million thanks for this easy to follow tutorial. The user manual is nearly useless because it's oversimplified and there are way too many release buttons on this vacuum. And all the plastic is intimidating because I think I'm going to break something.
This was recommended to me by my physical therapist. I have a very bad back and cannot deal with heavy canister or uprights. This Dyson V6 very lightweight, the head maneuvers around and into the smallest areas, and the accessories just pop in and out like a kids toy. Wonderful design.
Now turns on and off, took it apart and cleaned all filters, found T7 screwdriver and took the tunnel but no dust. NOW charging light blinked yellow and turned off! Phone contact doesn't work,, so am trying to contact by texting. Dont know if appliance repair can fix it. If not, will buy another brand same type
Thanks, very useful. Re the removal of the semi-conical portion starting at 2:26, after using a screwdriver for the main tab as per the video, I found it easier and safer (less chance of damage) to use a plastic bicycle tyre lever to finish the job of prying off the smaller tabs all the way around.
Thank you for a great video, you saved my Dyson from sure and certain threat of being thrown down the garden! I stripped it, clogged up, all clean and now the battery time has increased massively!
My machine hasn't been working properly for a week or two and finding the serial number to contact Dyson with is so hard but with this link about cleaning it is sooooo simple and hopefully I won't have to contact them again, Thank you
Thank you so much. My Dyson had been stop starting. Had cleaned out the bin and head before watching this, and it still did it. I even made sure I cleared every little bit wrapped around the head part and still nothing...but u mentioned the filter part which I didn't even consider! (Still quite new to Dyson) and once I did this it is now working like a dream 👍👍
THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! To answer one person, you MUST pry down that part of the head because it is FILLED with dirt! I used a couple of screwdrivers to get it down. Yes, it was difficult to pull down that piece, but follow carefully, and it will come down will gentle pulling. I I have a cat and don't know whose hair is more in the unit!!! This guy has told it well. Do it once, and it will be easier the next time. It takes over a half hour to clean the unit! That's the bad part of the Dyson, but it's a great cordless! I followed your video before, and it worked wonderfully. I just did it again, and I don’t know how to thank you enough for your wonderful tutorial.
I saw them but felt I had removed enough stuff. Next time I'll fowllow your recommendation. How did we manage before the internet and youtube? Oh, I remember. We just bust things trying to fix them.
thank you for this video on cleaning the purple filter. I had previously contacted Dyson about this and the guy said that the filter can come off but he wouldn't recommend me trying. Then I saw the Dyson being demonstrated in a store and I asked that guy did he know how to clean it and he told me there was a video on UA-cam but it was not an official video. I decided to follow your video. I was very nervous. I put matchsticks in the gap as I went round trying to lever off the filter. Eventually I got it off. Dust everywhere! There is no doubt that I have made little dents in the plastic edge of the filter, but as long as it goes back together (I haven't got that far yet!) too bad. I used a pastry brush to get in all the nooks and crannies. It is now as new. I am going to write to Dyson about this problem (not mentioning what I've done!) and see what they say. It's a really bad fault that this can't be cleaned properly.
Great walk through, I was able to clean the machine and remove the long-running foul smell from the dust and filter. I almost gave up and bought a replacement before I found this video.
Thanks for your great UA-cam video. My Dyson vacuum cleaner stopped working a few months ago, so I used your video. Since then it's worked fine. It's recently stopped working again so I used your video a couple of days ago. It's now all back together and working fine. It takes around half an hour to do the clean but certainly worth it!!! Thanks again
To clean the purple filter use the hard sprayer on your sink if you have one. Hold it at an angle at the bottom and spray the water through the element to push the dirt out. This works very well for me. In wintertime, to dry all of the components after washing, place them on a floor heat register. They will be dry in a jiffy. In summertime just set them outside.
This is the reason I like Dyson Hoover's. Any one from a certain age will remember the Hoover paperbags "messy and smelly" and they never lasted long enough🤔 and they would rip open as you tried to empty it, and you would pumpe the stagnant smell of the paper bag you have just emptied back into the house 🤯. Thank you Dyson everything nice and clean and fresh 👍🏿👏🏿🤗.
The first top filter actually unclips from its plastic cone shaped holster . Dirt clogs inside on plastic inserts plus it is then easier to clean , I use a an old toothbrush with soapy water to give it a good clean . Thanks for the information .
I done this today with the help from your video, just hung the cone filter on the line to dry, everything went smooth, only small bit extra I done was remove the bottom rubber gasket (it was wet from cleaning) wiped n dried it,thanks mate,I can do this now anytime I need to....
Thank you from California! I have a V6 handheld. Your instructions were very easy to understand. I had gotten stuck when it comes to the part where you need a screwdriver. Now I'm confident I can get the unit cleaned up. Thanks again.
CORRECTION >>> The cloth filter wasn't rinsed correctly in the video. You need to turn the cloth filter up-side-down to rinse. Otherwise, the fine dust and small debris will get washed down into the bottom tip of the cloth filter and get collected there. And in a few years the filter might clog up and the motor could start whining in high pitch noise and burnout. So turn the filter up-side-down, tap out the dust first when the filter is still dry, and then rinse with water after.
Great instructional video. After doing this myself, I'd recommend using a face mask (and possibly even goggles) while doing this, or perhaps under the vent hood on your stove or next to an air purifier. The dust particles are incredibly tiny and carry lots of allergens. I was sneezing and my eyes were scratchy. My cat sneezed too. Dysons are great for people who like taking things apart and putting them back together.
Very helpful tutorial and I successfully did both of our power heads after watching tips here. Firstly, I do suggest it is better to remove the purple and white filter and carefully push in the plastic tabs so the filter bag can be removed from the plastic frame and then turn the inside of the filter bag inside out to properly clean it. You will be surprised with the amount of crud you will likely find inside that fabric bag. See UA-cam video by Honest Dad how to clean Dyson V6 filter. IMHO washing the exterior under the tap as demonstrated does not properly clean the filter. Secondly, getting that screen off is a very difficult chore but can be done with time and plenty of patience as it can be frustrating as you get one side loosened and the other side relocks itself. I suggest using a medium size flat screwdriver as it has more leverage than a small flat screwdriver and keep working around the perimeter of the plastic top. Be careful as you don’t want to damage the plastic.
To avoid invalidating the warranty by taking the filter off, just take the small filter and bin off and clean as per this video , and then take it outside and tap the filter on a flat surface, not much force is needed, just gentle tapping and lots of the fine dust comes out in a pile, just keep doing it until it stops releasing the dust and give it a good blow 😜 to just get the small amount that remains off. Warranty isn't affected and you don't risk breaking it..unless you bang it too hard of course 😜
Driven mad with frustration with all the pulsing and trying with all the "bits" with no success so far - but was SO glad to find this clear, step by step video. This is the sort of thing Dyson should be including as a matter of course - after all these are not cheap vacuums (and there are other more efficient ones available nowadays). Hope your'e listening Dyson!! I fact if I finally manage to sort my Animal - I shall contact Dyson to get in touch with you!! Thank you
There is other videos on cleaning the filter properly, doing it the way shown doesn't clean it well. You should seperate the filter from the plastic housing, this will prolong the amount of time before you need to start thinking about buying a new filter.
Thanks mate, appreciate the help on this. I would also like to add that after you remove all parts of the vacuum, there might and will be dirt inside as well, so hit it with a brush or something (so you don't break it) and a lot of dirt will come out of it (came out of mine)
What a lovely voice you should own Dyson I tell you! Anyway just got the V6 out of desperation for a project. I must say you are very patient there taking all the bits apart. I will be afraid now to break anything all plastic and easily cracked. Seems a lot of steps to clean it, still you have explained it beautifully. I found your video searching for how to clean that little rubber bit as I have only had mine 2 days and I can already see the dirt building. Thanks.
Thank you for making the cleaning the vacuum cleaner job so easy. I've had my Animal for years but always struggled to get the bin back on. You have shown me the (secret) clip at the front! I have now mastered my Dyson vacuum cleaner!
I thought all the matted hair attached to the brushes inside was part of the brush itself. When I saw your's I realised I had a lot more to clean than you did in yours. Thanks for the instruction, was really helpful!
FYI regarding rinsing and cleaning the filter, the dirt is actually collected inside the filter and not the outside surface. You should hold it upside down while running it under warm water. Continue rinsing and gently squeezing the filter until the water runs clean. Turn off the water then lightly tap and gently squeeze the filter to remove excess water.
I've found using a can of air duster saves you having to remove the inner cover with a screwdriver. you can blast all the dust off with a blast of air and any fluff caught in the rubber seal at the top
Oh god, cleaning a vacuum cleaner with compressed air? The whole point of a vacuum cleaner is to get dust out of your house! At least rinse the thing with hot water instead of blowing dry dust all over the place.
Totally agree with the others. This is a great video. I had no idea how I was going to get that dust bin really clean, didn't know that continuing to push on the empty tab would release the whole thing. Bravo! Very helpful
Thanks for the explanation! Small tip: If you don't want to open the internal filter (with the screwdriver), I found you can clean it quite effectively by just blowing through the filter. Preferably outside ;-)
Great tips ! Thxs ! First time I watched it I could not go through the tricky unclipping part, I was too afraid, but I did it today, my Dyson looks like brand new ! People who broke them are not enough cautious, you must be very slow and gentle.Thxs again !
Got one and am generally quite impressed with its performance, but this model does need continuel cleaning and unclogging, especially the brushhead which tends to clog up the hole through which the dirt goes, you can tell when this is happening, it stops picking up dirt and the motor sound gets noticeably louder. Have to agree that some of the plastics used do feel a bit "brittle", so be careful taking it apart, it obviously was designed not to be.
Solid tips sir .... filter rinse the best .... Look around and there is symbols to guide through the disassembly .... the heads even pop apart ..... Great video
This is brilliant. Easy to follow, worked exactly as shown. And yes, you need to do upkeep on appliances now and then to get the best life out of them. Kind of like people ;).
Thanks for showing how to open and clean this. I don't know what toret screws are but mine simply had torx screws which can be subbing removed and replaced with a small flathead screwdriver, and after bumping it and seeing dust falling out from inside still. I opened up the inside. I am so glad I did as there was more dust inside that inner part than the rest of the parts altogether!!! Perhaps I could have gotten most of it out with an air compressor and banging but removing 5 small screws with a small flathead was much easier than undoing the snap clips with the flathead, so well well with it.
Note: Once the top filter is removed, the outer covering (the purple and white mesh), shown at 37 seconds is removable with a small screwdriver. It’s essential to do this every few months as the internal structure holds onto a massive amount of dirt, plus when you rinse the filter gauze this dirt gets wet and never really dries. You’ll be surprised how much it hangs onto.
Hey thanks. The retaining ring is flimsy and showing signs of stress despite never having been dismantled, but I got so much crud out of it with rinsing, wringing etc!
My god, what a helpful vid, and kudos to Bob Pritchard and Colin Banes for the nudges to go further in the comments. Colin's suggestion to use a small screwdriver to wedge open the top filter revealed that it was 2/5 filled with sludge. That's two fifths! I actually checked the original instruction manual to make sure it didn't indicate that step. Nooooo, and it must take quite a toll on the motor through overheating, I was having trouble with thermal cutoffs.
This comment doesn't have enough likes ... was on the verge of buying a new vaccum after years of rinsing the filter (cursing why it's so badly designed) and getting nowhere! Kudos to you!
Thanks for the video as it helped a lot. I have 2 of these stick vacuums and needed to do a thorough cleaning on both. Once I had it open, I shook and slapped it - got a lot more caked on dirt off. I did try to go further to get the post motor filter but had difficulty taking the back off so didn’t bother for now. PS. We did order a battery from Dyson thru service trouble-shooting…it was very expensive ($150) but ordered another from Amazon last year at a reasonable cost. ($50) thanks again.
Thank you for the helpful video. I took that first filter apart and cleaned the inside which was full of dirt. All that dirt will clog up like mud in the filter if you wet it and don't get it totally clean on the inside. You have to be very careful in separating the filter off the plastic piece. There are 2 divets along the top which you can wedge apart. I used a small round bottle type brush to get all the dirt out.
Thankyou for mentioning this! He went to so much effort to clean it all up, and missed how to clean the only 'serviceable' filter properly! I was screaming inside.. lol
@@MozzieSquad I bought a variety of small brushes on ebay. I use them on everything. If you buy them....get several of each one...They come in handy in the car and around the house for al those nooks and crannies....I also purchased 2 sets of dental tools....they really help also.
Video shows the cone filter been cleaned upside down. The dirt is in the inside. By cleaning it this way, the dirt will just gather at the bottom of the cone. Dyson say to hold the cone with the skinny end up and the open end down. That way the dirt can flow out of the filter.
Thank you very much for your video so well explained! I am Spanish, Catalan. Cleaning this part of the vacuum is not in the Dyson instructions, but it was so dirty it sure had to be cleaned. I have searched the networks and the only thing that has helped me is your video. Thanks again!
An extra trick I use once I have the machine dismantled and wiped down I use my garden blower and give it a good turbo blast through both ends of the casing via filter space and cyclonic opening. Do this outside though as there will be ALOT of dust..! Works a treat :))
You don't need to take the inner filter shroud off, but if you must do it, then use a spudger or a guitar pick rather than a screwdriver to avoid chewing up the plastic around the edge. To deal with smells without disassembling your machine, with an empty bin, dump some Shake 'n' Vac on the floor and vacuum it up, leave it in the bin.
Ideally you need a set of plastic pry tools for doing this job. Also, as already said by Jeff Wilson you can remove the whole Cyclone assembly from the motor body. To do this remove the waste bin then look between the Cyclone top and the motor body you'll see a white plastic clip (well the two ends of it anyway). You'll need a pair of long-nosed pliers or something similar to squeeze these together while wriggling the Cyclone free.
Very helpful, there are mor places to clean than you’d think. Had enough fluff out of mine to make a robin’s nest, and it now works fine. Big ££ saver here. Mikko
Yet, only one is a Dyson lol..just comes to show that Dyson simply has a cult followers. I wasn't impressed with the Dyson at all. Mine just stopped that's why i'm here
Maybe more directed at Dyson itself. The vacuum isn't really cleanable. Having to pry apart plastic parts damages them every time and will eventually break them.
@@marks7445 they are trying to make laws so it is easier to take apart appliances to repair them instead of them ending in a landfill. Terrible that we have to make laws for that, but good it's being done.
thanks had this vacuum for 2 years before i realized i needed to clean it like this😅 almost chucked it out and bought a new one but now it’s perfect again
This has made me very self conscious about the state of my vacuum when I cleaned it. I can’t even imagine a life where my dirty vacuum would ever look as clean as his dirty vacuum haha
Great video. Thank you! My vacuum cleaner kept stopping after a few seconds. I followed your video and decided to take mine all apart to clean and have put it back together and works great again. Thank you for the informative video.
Thank you for this. Just watched it and have successfully taken myV6 to pieces and cleaned it. I’ll be back in the next few days to say whether I got it back together again and it worked!
Wow your main tool head looks almost brand new compared to mine! great video. One thing I noticed from a Dyson video, is when you release the bin, to twist it slightly to the side after depressing the red button the 2nd time.
Safety first when you clean out Dyson vacuum cleaners, because water and electricity don't mix. I watched my dad remove the brush bar from the orange Dyson DC24 ball upright vacuum cleaner this year in the spring and observed his sanitation skills. He's never seen that much hair in his life.
5:51 the round/circular top end of the brush bar comes off and you can remove the individual brushes to get them super clean, then clip it back on afterwards. Great video, thank you kindly!
Great video! Thanks for the help. One thing I would change is that the parts you do with a brush, they are much better to take outside and use a pressure attachment on an air compressor. Obviously not everyone has a compressor but if you do it gets every little bit of dust blasted out of there.
Great job !!! A couple of comments, definitely take the top off the cone shaped filter by using a butter knife to pry clips off. There will be gross hard globs of dirt and hair in them. Wash cone with lots of dish soap it is not enough to just rinse with water, huge difference which also lengthens your vacuuming time before it does the pulsating thing. Also when you take the second filter off take a butter knife and a damp soft micro cloth and insert in where that second filter snaps on there was a lot of dirt up there for me and with that and a little banging I got a ton out. Didn’t help that hubby vacuumed up dry wall dust with it. 🙄 Also check all you wheels they usually have hair and dust wrapped around them. 🤗
@scooby jon. How has your comment sat here for three years without anyone joining in with more great bottom gags ? Come on Dyson owners, where’s your sense of inyourendo ?

@@lords-electricalI’ve just done it ❤thank you from a single woman living alone 💋🙌🏼
@BlowinFree glad it was helpful for you 😊
@@lords-electrical it really was! 🙏🏻 do you have any tutorial on how to remove the “clam shell” is it complected? Do I need specific tools?
This was very helpful! My Dyson V6 is working so much better. I did go a bit further in removing parts, just needed a long handled T10 torx screwdriver. This has solved my problems of the motor cutting in and out endlessly. So much fine dirt//dust in the innards. Also saw that my motorhead brush was worn down to nothing and after your simple tutorial, was able to remove/clean it while awaiting a replacement brush from Amazon. Many thanks!
Great to hear this was useful for you, thanks for the feedback
T10 does not fit
@@pilotjim4595 Sorry to hear. Worked perfectly for me. Good reason to have several in various sizes.
Excellent video. Clear and comprehensive. Removing the clipped-in filter ring would be a scary process without your explanation. Thanks
Glad it was useful for you 👍
7 years later at you just saved me a headache. Thanks!
Great to hear this video is still helping people out. Thanks for the feedback 👍
This was recommended to me by my physical therapist. I have a very bad back and cannot deal with
heavy canister or uprights. This Dyson V6 very lightweight, the head maneuvers around and into the
smallest areas, and the accessories just pop in and out like a kids toy. Wonderful design.
If course, cleaning with this video was no problem.
Now turns on and off, took it apart and cleaned all filters, found T7 screwdriver
and took the tunnel but no dust. NOW charging light blinked yellow and turned off!
Phone contact doesn't work,, so am trying to contact by texting. Dont know if
appliance repair can fix it.
Really good tutorial! No time waisting, all valuable steps and information. Well done!

Ty for that important information ty
My second comment....this is the BEST and easiest way to clean the Dyson. YOU are the greatest and have made this relatively easy for me!!!!!!
Great Video, Thanks. I would recommend removing the T-8 screws to clean the inner section. Mine was packed with fine dust.
I saw them but felt I had removed enough stuff. Next time I'll fowllow your recommendation. How did we manage before the internet and youtube? Oh, I remember. We just bust things trying to fix them.
FINALLY , A video of someone who talks and explains wtf hes doing , while taking a part a Dyson v6. Thank you so much .
Brilliant - no more pulsing and its like having a new cleaner - many thanks for taking time to help us all out.
thank you for this video on cleaning the purple filter.
Thank you for showing us how to clean the Dyson V6 vacuum cleaner properly
Take the filter apart and rinse from the inside out
I love how this Dyson looks almost brand new 😂 we’ve had ours since 2016 and it’s a state. Maybe I should give it this makeover!
I just clean mine outside when there is a slight breeze - simples
Get a 4 lb hammer and after all. The parts are dry ... pound the shit out of it and fo buy another, cleaning solved
You looking for me 😮😋
Driven mad with frustration with all the pulsing and trying with all the "bits" with no success so far - but was SO glad to find this clear, step by step video. Thank you
You have a very calming voice
i had the intermittent on/off problem and spent 30 min trying to figure it out with no fix. Watched this video and resolved in 30 seconds. Thanks!
Thanks for showing this I couldn't figure out why my dyson was hesitating, Once I cleaned that filter it worked great.
Glad it was helpful!
Great, thorough overview of how to clean the V-6. Thanks a lot!
Thank you. I followed step by step and now my Dyson looks brand new, inside and out.
Thank you for helping me get my mothers dyson working again!
I thought all the matted hair attached to the brushes inside was part of the brush itself. When I saw your's I realised I had a lot more to clean than you did in yours. Thanks for the instruction, was really helpful!
Glad to know the video was helpful for you, thanks for the great feedback
FYI regarding rinsing and cleaning the filter, the dirt is actually collected inside the filter and not the outside surface. You should hold it upside down while running it under warm water. Continue rinsing and gently squeezing the filter until the water runs clean. Turn off the water then lightly tap and gently squeeze the filter to remove excess water.
I didn't know Anthony Daniels made great tutrorials. Thanks for sharing! I cleaned my V6 today.
I've found using a can of air duster saves you having to remove the inner cover with a screwdriver. you can blast all the dust off with a blast of air and any fluff caught in the rubber seal at the top
Good suggestion, may be better to do this outside if it is really dusty as the dust can go everywhere
Someone had suggested using another vacuum. I like your idea and I also have a small vacuum that this v6 replaces. I like both ideas.
Thanks! Unfortunately I didn’t see this till after I washed it, but was still able to remove a good sized chunk of dog fur/dander.
I was screaming inside.. lol
Unclip the filter bag from plastic clips and turn the filter inside out to achieve a thorough cleaning.
@@brianbaker359 TY I will try that on the next cleaning which is pretty soon
Great to hear this. Thanks for the feedback.
Awesome, this cleaning breakdown finally got rid of that foul smell that was permeating from the vacuum
Or vacuum up some baking soda.
Finally got in to clean out the purple assembly, loads of dust caked in there. Thank you for good instruction
This is the most thorough explanation on how to clean my dyson. Thanks so much!!!
Very helpful, there are mor places to clean than you’d think. Had enough fluff out of mine to make a robin’s nest, and it now works fine. Big ££ saver here.

Thanks very much
Dyson soalled manuals are practically useless on all of their machines. Sometimes a piture is NOT worth a few words.
Thoroughly explained, good tutorial. As soon as my warranty expires I will use the 'deep cleaning ' as shown in the video.
Who are the 1600 people who dislike a simple cleaning video?? What were they looking for?! 🤦♂️
Think they're all Dyson employees lol
They are all individuals who own thierbown mobile vacuum cleaning company's.
Wow interesting
thanks had this vacuum for 2 years before i realized i needed to clean it like this😅 almost chucked it out and bought a new one but now it’s perfect again

Glad it was helpful for you. Thanks for the feedback
Thank you. 👍👍👍. This is more work than the conventional vacuums with paper bags.
Thank you for this. Just watched it and have successfully taken myV6 to pieces and cleaned it. I’ll be back in the next few days to say whether I got it back together again and it worked!
Thanks so much for this - it also worked for our V8 Animal. You have really saved the day!!
Excellent video I've had mine for 2 weeks and wondered how to get that filet off to clean , thumbs up for a clear instruction video
5:51 the round/circular top end of the brush bar comes off and you can remove the individual brushes to get them super clean, then clip it back on afterwards. Great video, thank you kindly!
Not on V6
Great video! Thanks for the help. One thing I would change is that the parts you do with a brush, they are much better to take outside and use a pressure attachment on an air compressor. Obviously not everyone has a compressor but if you do it gets every little bit of dust blasted out of there.
I just made my wife very happy. Thank you
Great job !!!
Also check all you wheels they usually have hair and dust wrapped around them. 🤗

You could do deeper cleaning. It’s very simple. But I must honestly say you was my inspiration to start thinking and then do deep cleaning of my beloved dyson V6
What extra steps did you take to deep clean (and what extra tools are required)?
