Awesome review, perfectly summary for those in the intermediate category. Thank you for letting me know the ideal tension of the string, that really helps!!
I agree that this string has absolutely improved my accuracy in ball placement. I love the feel and touch, just the right amount of power.. Best string for me so far. I am not a hard hitter or a string breaker and mostly play doubles. I have experimented with many different string tensions and have settled on 17g - 40lb for mains and 43 lb for crosses. I Started using the condidential as a Hybrid with Head FXP multifiber for mains @ 65lbs and solinco crosses at 44 lbs. I now prefer the total Solinco 40lb M /43lb C string bed. I am well into my 2nd year of using these strings with no arm or elbow issues. I do agree that that these strings play great for about the first 25 to 30 hours of play and then go dead quickly after that amount time. For me it is cost effective and i enjoy playing these strings. I string my racquets every 3-4 months.
Would really like to see you try the 18g at the same tension. I haven't tried the 16g, but I gave up on the 17g. However, I would say that because it does have an aggressive shape, I've had much better luck using a round cross string.
My go to strings are the confidential 18 gauge but lately I’ve been doing a hybrid of confidential 18 in the main and hyper G round in the cross at 53 pounds. Amazing feel and control and you can really hit through the ball and it stays in the court. Doesn’t feel mushy like a full bed of hyper G.
Lynx Tour has much better feel and power. The confidential is a bit stiffer and deader. I think both have good spin potential but the confidential is probably a bit better at spin
"Hyper-G feels mushy after the strings break in." I've been using Hyper-G for about a year and have been all over the place on tension. I've played ALU Power since around 2006 and tried Hyper-G in fall 2022. I normally strung ALU Power at 51 so I tried around 49 with Hyper-G. Hyper-G holds tension for about 2 hours and then the tension drops a decent amount and then just gradually decays slowly. I tried it down to 45 or 46 and it was, as you said, too mushy. I found that Hyper-G had no feel at 49 and below. Someone suggested I string it higher than usual so I tried 51 and this was better for tension maintenance. I then tried 52 and better still. 51 and 52 both resulted in mushiness but it didn't come on as early as with lower tensions. I then tried it at 54 and it was boardy for 2 hours but I had good feel. I have 17 hours of play on these strings and they still play well. I normally cut out ALU Power after 8 hours as it went dead. I really love Hyper-G and am only looking for strings that improve on it. It doesn't sound like Confidential is what I'm looking for from this review.
1.20 is too launchy, 1.25 is too stiff... Like many shaped strings, you should try with a round cross for more feel, predictability and snapback... Full bed is too grippy, muted and boardy
Wow man! I thought I was the only one who felt that way. I like stiff strings and make my own power, but I had no sense of control or direct feedback from this string. Yes, when I hit the ball with a lot of spin, I could feel the ball nose dive as it approached the baseline, but I felt like a spectator to my own shot and did not have a sense where my shot was going to land when I made contact. Good analysis of this string!
this is old string, why don't they make even a better update to confidential ? maybe they can't ?? this is great for spin and decent power. but control is unpredictable
I didn't like it. Low power, medium spin and not very comfortable. Sure, you can whack the ball super hard and have good control, but the control simply comes from it's deadness. It's not bad and for players who often play against other players who hit the ball very hard, this string is great. Once you have to accelerate the ball and create teh pace yourself, this string becomes very laborious. And yes, it's definitely 4-sided, not 5-sided. It holds tension very well, but that's it for the positives for me. I switched to the Isospeed BlackFire S, because it has more power, more spin, way more comfort and lasts just as long. The only downside is that it doesn't hold the tension as well, but since my strings usually break after 10-12 hours it's not really an issue for me.
Lynx Tour is much better for feel, control, and for those who won't do stringing until it breaks. Don't pick Confidential, it becomes springy after a few months.
I'm currently using the Lynx Tour and I liked a lot. I'll try Confidential next and see how them compare. I think Confidential will give me more control and tension maintenance. We'll see...

Great review! I know you love Lynx tour and they seem similar on paper. How would you compare the two?
Lynx Tour has much better feel and power. The confidential is a bit stiffer and deader. I think both have good spin potential but the confidential is probably a bit better at spin
Confidential or Devil Spin what you prefer?
Thanks
Can I do 56lb on the main and polytour pro 53lb on the cross?

Does gosen polylon ice makes a great round cross?
The 1.20 turns into a rocket launcher after the initial drop off.
My man knows what’s up!
Do u think it will be nice solinco confidential main alu power original both 1.25
18g plays great at 48
Gravity Pro
How long does it last
Should I do confidential on the main or cross
It would probably saw into the mains causing them to snap so I would put Confidential in the mains.
Do you think this with Lynx Touch crosses would make a good hybrid?
It would be a pretty muted and low powered setup IMO but if you're a big hitter and want more control, that could be a good hybrid set up
Recommend tension?
Depends on your string pattern, strings gauge, racket, and play style. But I recommend around 48lbs
I just saw a pancake serve
Would this be pkay to hybrid with biphase? Or would you rec the best hybrid setup for biphase?
Nope, x1 will be cut right away

This string plays great for two hours. After that, the edges wear off and at 5 hours it's completely unplayable. Don't waste your time.
