Hi Kade, I’m watching this from the UK (good informative post) 👍 I absolutely love Hyper G but you are right about the drop off. I only play 2/3 times per week so I kind of get away with it for about 6 weeks. Currently trialling Confidence.
I tried once Luxilon Alu Power in a Ezone, didn't like it so much... I am using Lynx Tour in all my raquetes and i love it... Will try Solinco Confidential next time! Thanks for the video!
Tried all of them, tour bite is my favorite of the list, but I will say that Genesis White Magic is my favorite currently, super cheap but man it’s good for how much it costs
I've tried almost all of these strings and my top two are Head Lynx Tour and Solinco Confidential in a Head Prestige Pro and MP. I find that both strings play very similarly and they stay playable for longer than the other strings on this list. For me the best strings for the current version of the Head Prestige Pro (20x18) is a hybrid of Head Lynx Tour (125) on the mains and Head Lynx Touch (125) on the crosses, each at 47 lbs.
@@murilo3123 I usually use a full bed of Lynx Tour, but I was looking for a bit more power in the Prestige Pro, so I went with Touch in the crosses. Another great string is the Grapplesnake Tour M8. Another control string.

back in my day the college string you saw everywhere was technifibre red code. agree with your opinion here. i couldn't get into hyper g. i just couldn't feel the ball enough, and while it's a more affordable string compared to the others, for that price point, i'd rather get signum pro poly plasma
I use signum pro tornado 1.17 (mains) with topspin cyber blue 1.20 (crosses) 49p tension in my radical mp touch. I think it's a nice blend of spin and power to a light control oriented racket.
I can confirm that, for me at least, the Hyper G feels great on your first set and 2nd set. You can really feel the string biting on the ball and the control on your shots are great but then after that or if you play less at the club level, by the 2nd day, you would have already lost a lot of tension on the string and it just does not feel the same, like at all, and the amount of effort you have to put in to control and produce the same amount of power on the shots are different. After trying it out once I switched to Confidential and I've not had that same problem. The string provides more power, not as good control as Hyper G but the tension is maintained well after multiple sessions of playing. That's the preferred string between the 2 for me.
Currently a user of Cyclone 16 Gauge in my Blade v8 because its so cheap. I’d say on average its lasting 5-7 hours of heavy hitting before it drops off a cliff.
Haven't played many strings. But Hyper G being popular makes sense due to it's price and, so far in my experience, it kind of does everything well. Currently using Solinco Outlast in my Pure Aero VS and Head Lynx Tour in my Head Extreme Tour. Both seem like good strings. Oddly, I didn't get along well with the RPM Blast, which is what I started out with when I took tennis up this last summer. Something about the RPM Blast where I just don't feel connected to the ball. I've had a set of Luxilon ALU sitting around but have never got around to stringing a racket up with it yet. I bought a few sets of Hyper G as backups because I've used it in three different rackets and liked it in each one. Eventually I'll try some Confidential and Tour Bite.
I used natural gut/4G Soft for awhile. Great setup, but I break the gut in 6 hours so not cost friendly. Have now settled on Hyper G Soft 1.25 or Cyclone Tour 1.30 always with Tier 1 Ghostwire in the cross. The best cross I have ever used hands down. Smooth, soft and holds tension. Great setups in my Extreme Tour.
Hehe, I used Volkl Cyclone Tour mains for a long time hybrided with Forten Sweet. I loved the feel of a fresh set of those strings. But like you mentioned, tension maintenance wasn't all that great so I could only play with that kind of setup for at most 3 months. As I've gotten older, I've switched it up quite a bit. I now use Luxilon natural gut mains with ALU Power. Yes, it's pretty expensive, but since I'm not a string breaker and the gut has amazing tension maintenance, I don't restring nearly as often so it's ended up saving me money. Plus it has amazing feel *and* power as needed, just not quite as much spin, though I can generate enough as needed usually. ;)
I've tried all of the strings on the list and my favourite of them is RPM blast (and yes I'm based in Europe!). Not a fan of shaped polys for some reason, I feel like they change character too quickly and I don't want to restring that often. My go-to is Luxilon 4G soft, have you tried it? I think I've settled on smooth round polys. Oh and I also use the extreme tour 16x19 with some lead in the hoop!
Recently switched to Vokyl Cyclone Tour (16g) replacing Cyclone 17g. Used cyclone for several years but recently started having wrist problems. Cyclone Tour is softer than Cyclone and better spin as well as arm and wrist friendly. I would say it is relatively unknown, but excellent.
Wow... Yeah that is cool. I haven't heard of cyclone tour. Definitely something I'll have to check out. Cyclone is a good string itself so I'm sure the tour version is good as well.
@@MPTennis What tension is suitable for this string? I'm coming from a bit more of a comfort string and looking to advance in my high school team. My friend also likes this string and uses it in his Ezone.

What tension do you like to use? I normally use 53, but I’m starting to experiment with going lower…wanna try going down to low 40s, I’m currently at 50
Hey Jon! Yes, lowering your tension will obviously create more power so it's definitely worth experimenting with. I've never gone any lower than 48. My current tension is 54/51. That works best for me.
@@MPTennis thanks for the reply! I’m hoping for more comfort/plush feel as well from the lower tension. Hoping I can get used to that extra power as I lower the tension.

I haven´t played tour bite but rpm blast imho doesnt hold tension well and hyper g was fun trying but nothing of the hype I understand, you can´t go wrong but nothing really special, only the color. Also didnt understand the hype of yonex poly tour pro, average string for me.
That's actually a difficult question but a good one. It depends on your level to be honest and what you are looking for. Different gauges have pros and cons.
Mostly 16 and 17 are used....16 is for heavy top spin players and string breakers....you have to string it at lower tensions because at higher tensions it becomes to stiff and board like...my experience with 16 is ,you start to hit more flat ....17 is good for manouvering balls both high and low, hitting angles and putting top spin....it snaps back pretty well....the only downside to it is,it breaks easily
I used to use solinco tour bite, recently switched to grapplesnake tour sniper due to arm pain from playing tour bite at a high tension in a pure drive. Honestly I feel tour sniper is just as good, if not better, than tour bite
Actually...no I am not sponsored by Solinco. I was just sharing what a lot of college tennis players use and Solinco has a big footprint in college tennis.
Many college players, especially at the larger schools, get their racquets strung before every match and don't have to pay for the service. They don't need to worry about tension maintenance.
@@padflash yeah but the strings are free surely? Lux doesn’t given sponsee pros. It’s a great string I used it as a test, I’m not good enough to benefit from it I’d argue only pros are and the stuff is expensive for how long it lasts.
@@lordwellingtonthethird8486 not sure if college players get Luxilon strings free (they do, I'll explain below), but my point was moreso that free stringing would offset some costs that rec or club players might encounter as it comes to using ALU Power. Also, Wilson owns Luxilon, and, at least in the pros, you see a lot of pros using strings that are the same brand as their racquet. So, I think it's possible that Wilson sponsored college players get strings too. DePaul University (in Chicago) is sponsored by Wilson (HQ in Chicago), and they get equipment (including Luxilon strings) provided by Wilson.
I would not say the game is ruined. Not everyone uses polyester. A lot of college players use polyester string because it's cheaper and easier for us to get. Most of the time this kind of string fits our game. S/v is not extinct. It's just not used as much because it doesn't work in today's game as well. Same goes for one handed backhand just not as many around. Although, some guys got some nice one handers out there.

Yonex Poly Pro Tour?
Maybe more now…. It’s getting more popular. Not when this was recorded now.
I used to use solinco tour bite, recently switched to grapplesnake tour sniper due to arm pain from playing tour bite at a high tension in a pure drive. Honestly I feel tour sniper is just as good, if not better, than tour bite
Interesting. I love when people find strings that aren't as popular but are just as good as the flagship brands.
Yeah I agree confidential feels better than hyper g.
Where is Tecnifibre Razor Code and Yonex Poly Tour?!
Poly tour pro would be very close to top 5. Could have probably put it as an honorable mention. No razor code tho.
I’m surprised Yonex Poly tour Pro isn’t on the list 😂
That probably could have been an honorable mention actually. Great pick up.
It doesn't have green toy color
Number one in Canada
Please change the grips on the racquets in the background. Some of them look like WHO/ Geneva Convention violations:)
Hyper G absolutely overrated, confidential is another level, it does what you tell it to do
Your sponsor is solinco or, almost all strings are theirs
Actually...no I am not sponsored by Solinco. I was just sharing what a lot of college tennis players use and Solinco has a big footprint in college tennis.
You use confidential now ?
Yes have been for almost last 2 years
And the yonex polytour pro ??
Mary ATP and WTA players use it...
Where is this accent from when you say "about"
🇨🇦
College players mostly use just what's provided for free though.
Ya…. A lot of these strings are provided…. And not everyone uses what is provided. Ex: Me.
fyi I was unsubbed by YT. Resubbed.
Oh. Welcome back!!
Have you ever played pickleball?
Just when I was a kid. Many years ago
the confidential launch angle is ridiculous, string sucks imo
Hyper G very overrated. Best polys are Luxilon and Pacific but somewhat pricey... Best bang for the buck : generic German made co-polys.
Hyper G got in college level players because they didn’t want to spend the marketing bucks for the top pros. Over rated and god awful color.
Lux is overrated unless your a pro because of tension maintenance
Natural gut, 85/90 SI frames, 30lbs and 1hbh and play an all around game, including s/v. Todays tennis is artificial and ruined.
Cause the carbon fiber racquets you use are not artificial. They grow up from trees
Congrats, you spend $100 a restring lmao. Used natural gut. Is nice a serve volleyer in d1 but it’s ridiculous
@@Kevmc1023 my racket is 32 years old.
Thank for your input Jimmy Connor
Hi Kade, great information! and happy holiday!
Hi Peter! Thank you, you too!
Solinco Confidential is by far my favourite string but unfortunately its too firm and kills my arm so I can't use it :( So I gravitate towards Hyper-G which is still a great string.
Use polytour Pro then
hyper g kills your arm as the life is quite short
