You really have a knack for explaining technical things, and I say that having gone through college for software engineering. I'm quite impressed and happy I found you at the beginning of my EZDrummer 3 journey. Thanks so much for the content.
Great to hear Kevin and thank you saying!
Hi I am trying to get the midi file to appear In the midi track I know how to load files in the composing window in ez drummer but don't know the steps to get them in the daw
You're awesome dude! Thanks for the tips AND the lack of ads! Rock on!
You got it!
Nicely done, Sean! Looking forward to getting up to speed with your EXD3 series; thank you!
Awesome, welcome!
Thank you! I am in the beginning phase of this type of product. I am a seasoned producer but I have struggled with drum tracks. I also appreciate the tutorial videos you have produced. They give me confidence to invest into EZDrummer3. Thank you, again!
Awesome! Welcome to EZD3!
Man I'm all set with my installation process but I watched any ways and as usual tons of great info, I alaways learn something new with your vids thanks.
Thanks a ton for an in-depth run through of what now seems like a piece of cake post your awesome explanation on the product installation and much more!!
Great to hear. Thanks for saying! Live EZDrummer stream tomorrow is you’re interested.
I'm up and running. Locked and loaded. WOOHOO!!! If you'r doing an upgrade like me, it could not have been easier.
Chick-chick... boom! Rock and roll
mine went flawless

New to your channel, brand new toontrack customer, have just downloaded ez drummer 3 and got the plugin integrated into ableton. I have subscribed and am looking forward to some ez drummer 3 content!
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Joseph!
This is such a bad ass program. I’m having a blast with the new band mode. Get a baseline drum line for your guitar and go from there.
Heck yeah!
I’m about to purchase ez drummer 3 . I appreciate your help
Great to hear! Do subscribe with notifications, a lot more content coming out.
Awesome content here. Thank you.
Thank you, Jeff. Come back when you're ready for more.
I've been playing with it for an hour, couldn't help myself upgrading after watching your videos this morning. There are a few things you need to figure out when editing play style but they make sense. It's a great update, having fun just playing with it with no other instruments, can't wait to try bandmate and see how it works with a few songs i'm working on. I use a Dark Matter kit so not sure if I like the new sets more than what I already have but will compare.
I actually feel the same so far. I already had so many sounds I like, no big deal so far.
@@ShootieSchool Gotta check them in a mix to really tell.
@@grrrrrgh I'm not even close to there yet. Good hunting!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
You got it!
Hey Sean! love the extensive catalogue on ezdrummer 3. big helping hand, thanks for taking the time to record everything.
small question.. I cant see any videos on tips and trick for using ezdrummer 3 in a live setting? does this exist? I have found a lot of videos on YT on how to set it up with an interface but no one is talking about how to get the best sound live with ezdrummer. i am going to be only using my ezdrummer 3 in a live setting only, never in a studio or to create grooves. would love to see some tips and tricks on using it in a live setting.
keep up the great work
Thank you. If you need to do multi out, then the conversation has a ton of variables. If you just need to do stereo out, as I do, it's simply Computer>Audio Interface>Stereo DI Box. And give the Audio Engineer the DI.

@@ShootieSchool I am SUPER grateful for the response and advice. Thank you.
I have installed my EZdrummer 3 yesterday.
Welcome!
Great stuff man! Love the simple explanations you give! May I ask how do I know if the whole core library is installed? As well how to install the other samples on a external drive? Thx man
Your very first product installation of EZD3 will decide whether you install the "samples" (not the program, on your C drive or not. If you did not select anything and just went through all of the prompts, then the samples are installed on your C Drive.
If you look in Product Manager under Sound Expansions, you will see "EZD3 core Library". If that is installed, then you're ready to go. If that is not installed yet, when installing it, keep an eye out for a button/dialog box that will allow you to install the Sounds on a different drive.
@@ShootieSchool ya its all installed on my laptop! So now I guess I'll just see if it's fast enough to use! Thx man can't wait to see your next vid
@@therocktm2001 Your Hard Drive only determines how fast a kit "Loads", not "plays". Your Ram and Processor is what determines how well EZ works. I hope it goes well for you and welcome to EZ!

Thanks so much for this video and all of your other tutorials on EZD3. They’ve been life savers. I just upgraded to a new Mac and installed EZdrummer again. Everything is up and running, but, I’m thinking I might want to go ahead and move my sounds and MIDI to an external SSD. Can I still do that, even if I’ve already installed the core library to my built in HD? If so, how would I go about that? Will my future installs of EZX and MIDI packs follow the new path? :) thanks so much!
Thank you for saying! It's simple. I will refer to the manual on this one since I have not created a video yet for it. Just sign into your toontrack account on their site and then paste this link...

Thank you!
I installed EZD3 and was surprised that EZD2 was still there and operable. That wasn't the case going from EZD1 to EZD2 because 2 took over and disabled 1, but that doesn't seem to be the case here, at least with mine. The projects I created with 2 still came up using 2. and in the Product Manager both EZD 3 & 2 were checked and listed as "Ready To Use".
Yes sir, life is good and

Thank you great job definitely going to get it I have a question have a great laptop with the exception my SSD drive only has 24 gb left out of 128 ? but I have over 600 GB on standard Drive in my laptop ? WHAT is the minimal amount of space I can put on my SSD drive and the rest to my standard Drive? Thank you so much hope to hear from you keep up the great work my new friend.
I don’t have the specs right now. Installing the program on
Main drive and samples on second partition will be no prob. If you buy a bunch of ez products you’ll run out of room sooner than later.
@@ShootieSchool thank you for your reply so how much space does just the Easy Drummer3 program only take up?
Not much. Do message TT for an exact number.

Hi Shawn
if you reinstall ezdrummer 3 in vst3 insted vst, would you lost every work done in ableton?
what you think?vst or vst3?
thanks keep up with your videos (top quality)
Where is your midi, in ableton or EZ? I think your safe but curious about the details before signing off.
You didn't show the process for installing on a different HD. I'm installing EZX's and they give no option to choose a destination.
Hi I just bought ez3
I have my Alesia nitro kit
I have both laptop and serums plugged into my my Focusrite
How do I fix the latency ?
Thank for your time and help

Question. This coincides with me setting up a backup routine which I've done, so I back up my Cakewalk projects/documents etc to an external 1TB SSD and subsequently to a cloud store. I have also only recently discovered that it's probably a good idea to store any sample libraries on the external drive. All good so far. My query is? Well, like many of us I purchased EZD3 as an upgrade and downloaded it on the day of release and because EZD3 was so shiny, so exciting and just so damn drummy, I flew through the install routine and sat up till stupid o'clock fiddling with grooves and faders and stuff, totally forgetting my plan to install the samples on my external SSD. So...can you suggest a way of getting the samples transferred over to my external SSD without compromising any program files and / or corrupting the install? Is it just drag and drop or would it be better to uninstall and reinstall?
I’ve been thinking about it because the workflow is different that EZD2. I’m hoping it’s drag and drop, but I need to test myself before I personally recommend. I’m gonna put the info in the description of this vid sooner than later if you wish to check back.
Well by now you've probably done what you needed. But no you don't have to Uninstall/Reinstall the Library. Just copy and paste to a location, open EZD3 and point it to that location. If EZD3 doesn't prompt for missing Library, it can be changed in the Settings Menu.
@@TheeRocker You got it!
@@ShootieSchool Thank you sir ;)
I have Win 10 and a lot of TT products...and installing the EZD3 Core Library to different directory was NOT and available option. I have the Superior Drummer 3 core library on a separate drive and wanted to put the EZD3 core library on that drive as well...but the option to do so was not in the installer...I'm assuming its because I already had EZD2 installed and EZD3 defaulted to the same configuration...just something Windows and EZD2 users might note.
Your guess is correct. Same here.
👍👍👍👍
hey man ... wasn't sure which of the million platforms you're on to ask you about this but ... since you are expert in both, what is the most efficient way to write drum tracks in EZ3 and playback in BFD3? ... the mapping BFD3 has for EZ1 or SD2 leaves off lots ... etc ... many thanks!!
You could go Mid-Out from EZDrummer to BFD (if it is allowed). Some examples here: ua-cam.com/video/mzn5mBjO97s/v-deo.html
You need BFD to map to EZD, BFD use to have a preset for it. Do check their manual or do a search on BFD Midi Maps. I do not have BFD installed right now.
nice video. how do i transfer my ez drummer program to my new computer? Says i cant do it.
You download the Product Manager on the new computer and start all over. If you happen to store your Sounds on an External Hard Drive, plug that in on your new computer and link to it after installing EZD3 again.
You link to it in EZD via Main Menu>Settings>Library Path.
Hello if I don't have any toontrack plugin before, if I buy this one first will it work the same ? Do I need any other program to make it work ?
EZDrummer 3 will work on it's own. "if" you want to record music to it. You will want a "DAW" as well. Like Garageband, Reaper, or Pro Tools for example.
Thanks for this! Do you know how can i open it from my DAW? I can not find it in reaper
Options>Preferences>VST> add the VST3 folder path on your computer so Reaper scans it.
So is this only available as a stand alone app?
I have EZ drummer 1 and bought 3 as an upgrade. I used EZ1 as a plugin in my DAW but the new one didn't give an option for a vst3 file install.
Which DAW?
@@ShootieSchool it's reaper. When I installed EZd3 there was no option for dll vst or vst3 so I'm not sure if where those files would be to transfer to my vst folder for it to be picked up in reaper
@@BudgetPedalChap On Win10 Reaper 6.56. I go to Options>Preferences>Plug-ins>VST>Click Re-Scan. EZD3 popped right up for me. Hope that's the case for you.
I downloaded the EZdrummer product manager that then states that you can try the product for a 10 day trial. Upon installation of the product manager as instructed, Digital Performer can't see any EZdrummer instrument track anywhere when I open a new file. Should be easier than this.
You may want to ask a DP group, since I never use it. EZD3 is a VST3, not a VST2 or a .dll file. Some DAWs need to link to your computer's VST3 folder manually in the preferences. That might be the issue.
i'm new to this. i downloaded to internal drive. what files specifically can i move to an external drive? guess i should should keep manual and other documentation on the internal. thanks,
The only thing you should put on the external hard drive are the samples, unless you're an advanced computer user. Everything else is small in size and should be on your main drive.
@@ShootieSchool yea, i just transferred only the data. thanks, appreciate it.
midi libraries folder its inside EZdrummer folder but won't work what can i do?
What midi library? Toontrack? 3rd party?
What folder? On your computer? A folder in EZD?
Explain a lot more, tell a story. Too much info is needed.
Ezdrummer3 standalone works fine but it doesn't show in my DAW (studio one 5), is there any other thing to do to enable this? Thanks!
I’m not at my computer. S5 may have a separate vst3 category to look in while browsing for instruments. Also, might have to add a vst3 directory in you preferences/ settings.
Crap I guess I should have watched this one first.. when I was installing. Because 1 don't own ver 2, and yep loaded all on my music laptop, and I do have an external hard drive.. is there an easy way of moving the core library over to my hard drive?
I believe you can move your Sound install folder to a different hard drive, then you relink with Settings>Libraries/Paths.
If you join my Discord or Facebook group I can actually show you screenshots. Links are in my video description.
Hoe that helps.
@@ShootieSchool well I would but I wound up in FB jail a couple times too many and I got the boot... lol too much truth I guess.. anyway thanks for the tip.. im working on a project now if I get it finished I'll send you a link.. thanks again for sharing your knowledge of the EZ system.. Hi, I buy a bundle 3 instruments EZKEYS, should I install all or install one and add the other 2 or install all ?
The Product Manager will sort it out for you. So install everything. The very first EZKeys you install there will be a button that allows you to install on an external hard drive, and then Product Manager will remember that selection for future EZKey installs.
Thank you so much.

Hey everybody. Is it possible to install ezd3 onto an offline PC? I'm struggling. I've downloaded and installed ezd3 and the core library onto my online accessible laptop using the product manager. Now how do I install theses files onto my offline PC? I tried moving the files with a flashdrive into the appropriate location on my offline PC but I can't figure out how to install them?
I've never done it. You should post in the Toontrack forums for this one.
hi, what if I´ve already got EZ drummer2? do they share vst3 file? I don´t want to keep both, if I uninstall EZD2 will my current projects load EZD3?
I was surprised to find that when I installed EZD3, EZD2 was still operable, so if your system/setup is like mine you can have access to BOTH.
Of course if you completely uninstall 2 you'll lose 2s drum kits
@@williamshaneblyth I remember when EZD2 came out I already had 1 on my system and it completely took over and changed all my projects to EZD2 ( which I didn't want at the time but now I'm glad of it). But it also brought over all of the kits that were in EZD1 so I not only retained EZD1s kit but gained the two that came with EZD2. The only problem I had was that on my older projects that I did with EZD1, some of the routing changed not only on the drums but on the bass as well.
Hey shootie, I don’t know if you still check the comments but I installed the ezdrummer and superior as well, and they worked great for a year, just yesterday the sound files disappeared? I didn’t delete them I checked, and I even reinstalled the whole thing library and everything nothing, still same problem missing sounds, if you could help it would be greatly appreciated!
Bummer to hear. Go to Settings>Libraries/Paths>Click on little tiny hamburger menu> and select show in Explorer (or finder). Do you see the data there? Or is there an error message on that page?
Also, just thinking of this to get a head of the crowd. EZKeys2 is coming out real soon. You may want to start an official support ticket right now. Because their whole support crew is about to get their butt kicked for a week straight.
@@ShootieSchool thanks so much for the reply back, i fixed it but it seems the vintage and modern expansion pack is gone and ive redownloaded and havent got it back
what if i bought it through guitar center?
That's legit I'm sure.
I ran into trouble already. Cubase 11 daw. When I click the stop button on the daw. Nothing stops. I have to stop ez drummer3 and then stop the daw. Not good
At least it's not a showstopper. I've seen a few Cubase reports at TT forums. You may want to make sure they know this and get it on the to-do list.... another few days their to do list will be a mile long. I know this is pretty obvious Spyder, but you are synced to Host, right? Reminder, in case you're spacing out, a quick fix is drag your midi out of EZ into the EZD3 Cubase track, and mute what is in EZ, so you can get back to it for editing. May help you out just until a fix happens.
Ok question where is the midi your playing is it in a track in cubase or is it on the time line inside EZD3 or both. U can double up easy enough . Once I drag my midi from inside EZD3 to my DAW I either delete it or mute it inside EZD3 itself if that makes sense
Trying to play in cubase, but the DAW spacebar is only playing in ezdrummer, not DAW. Trying to use bandmate with EZD3 as plugin.
That is how it's behaving in Cubase, but not other DAWs. I don't know if that's a bug or a limitation of Cubase. o might want to report it to Toontrack is it's a show-stopper for you.
I downloaded it but only the standalone appeared. I use win10 and Ableton live10. I don't know where the vst dll file is.😫😒
I'm no Ableton Expert. Something like, Preferences>Plugins>Enable VST3 or Rescan Plugins. Let me know.

@@mrmar-que6307 WELCOME TO ezd3!
If your getting a PC for this, look for a processor with a lot of cores. Anything below 8 is most likely a bad idea. Think of cores as how many brains your computer has. If you have the old school "Dual Core Processor" your PC will have to find a way to run Windows, Ezdrummer, most likely a DAW and many other programs all off of two brains and this is gonna crush your PC into the dirt. Now say you have a PC with 16 cores, it's gonna distribute the work load across the cores and preform much much faster. Take in consideration the specs of the hard drive. Your ultimate choice now days would be a M.2 SSD which is a small card that plugs into your motherboard and has a very high data transfer rate. Next would be the standard SSD. I have been running my gaming and music off of a 2tb SSD drive for a long time. I would recommend stepping it up a bit to maybe 4tb at least, cause I'm shaving it for space. I would recommend a Samsung EVO, they are fast and reliable. Also you want to make sure your not bottle necking it on power so a good 600 watt or higher power supply is good. With this set up, you should have no issues pushing it to the limit. You should be rocking for years to come!
