Straightforward presentation of what needs to be done to get a groove up and running into your D.A.W. I like it, between TT making an intuitive product/interface and the workflow you have established, it really helps to get the drums "one and done". This allows me to go back to composing music which is always the challenging part (for most of us). I just cant do the loop thing and not play my keys, bass and guitar, but I find products like EZD and similar can make the process streamlined and I am OK with using the finished product in a production. Thanks for your help Shootie, you did a very good job.
I've used Groove Monkee loops for some time for my EZD2 and now EZD3: they are very good. First time watching Shootie School and I've already learnt new helpful EZD3 tips. Keep up the good work mate!
Just discovered EZDRUMMER last night and I am SO excited - found you searching for a tutorial on EZD for beginners 🙂 Lifelong keyboard player who thought I would have to create all my own drum tracks, and that was NOT what I wanted to invest my time in! Also was only using Ipad Pro's for music creation several years, and finally bit the bullet on my first Mac - a new MB Pro 14" (released 2021) and so far EZDrummer is the most fantastic thing that route will provide me! And I LOVED your advice on song structure right at the beginning - awesome tips. I'm also a vocalist and have wanted to write my own songs for decades - now I can see my way to start doing that, without tons of time wasted trying to become an expert drummer on the drum pad machines! Subbed with notifications :-)
Groove Monkee beats are fantastic. I bought 3 packs 2 months ago and love them. This video is chock full of great tips, Shawn. Arranging/composing, auditioning beats, moving unused drums down and out of the way…so much to digest! Love it. And those Swamp Country riffs…totally digging that.
Thank you for your very informative instruction on using EZDrummer 3 with the Groove Monkee MIDI drum loops. This was my first exposure to any Shootie School content, and your video found me at a time when I am researching this specific information for a need in my home studio. You have a professional, yet easygoing and relatable demeanor, and your valuable instruction took me a little further down the road to meeting my need. I appreciate that. Congratulations on your recent subscriber milestone, and count me among your new subscribers. Stay safe and well.
Well done Shootie 🤘 these videos will definitely help 👍. Finally started working with EZD3 last night had it since release but my son's surgery stuff absorbed pretty much every waking minute til recently. However I have to say after watching your videos just sitting in the hospital with my son over and over again when I finally sat down and opened up the program it felt like second nature and I didn't feel lost so thanks for sharing your content.
i bet you do a great Casey Kasem impression lol love your videos they are helpling me so much I really want to create my album. i have scratch tracks, gtrs/vox , and need to program drums
"Bangs head against the wall" Memo To Self: When you get tired and stuck, dragging pieces back and forth Mike-Go back and watch these damn videos. The Track function!!! Yes x 1000% I now have a "Boneyard" and a "Final Resting Place". See..I sit and write out the song first-chorus, verse..whatever. I then build the song around the drum parts and then play along with the drummer. Sliding left, right, cutting, pasting...I lose parts or get freaking frustrated. having a "scratch pad" so to speak is brilliant. Didn't even see that until I came back and re-watched the video. Ok-another piece to improve the workflow! It's time to head over to your site. Can't put off making a contribution any longer! Thank You so much!
Tutorial very cool (of course). Great to see you lay out the Shootie School story though.... a hard road but very well formed and a solid foundation. Thanks as ever.
thanks for the video! i'm just getting into EZDrummer, having had about 4 months of drum lessons and now trying some things in the digital world. One question I have about all the articulations EZDrummer provides. It's nice that it provides such natural sounds, but with all the High Hat articulations I'm not clear how to sensibly use those when making a groove on the grid. I get that with an ekit connected if all those are mapped up by an expert, the result can be terrific. But to manually program all the articulations? Is that what they're meant for? I haven't found grooves so far in the standard library which use a lot of the articulations in the same groove, they seem to just pick one so far. Thanks again!
If you're programming I'd let the midi from Toontrack influence you. I use a lot of these articulations but typically not many in the same beat. As you're drum lessons progress, you'll also get a better idea as to what your hihat foot is doing. I wouldn't over think it. Getting a better hihat feel after you choose what articulation you want i think comes from Velocity on the Grid Editor.
Groove monkee and shootie school are ..awesome... but can I spell. That is the question. I could use some more bass packs for sure Great walk through on your recommended work flow.. I didn't know about the multiple song tracks in easy drummer 3 thanks
