I have the same easy fill gas cap on my F150. There's two metal tabs on the inside of the tube before the cap. You can't open the cap unless both clips are compressed. Fuel dispensers are the right size to compress the clips before pushing the cap. Your truck should have a custom funnel under the back seat. It's the right size to compress the safety tabs in the event you need to poor gas from a can. Good luck!
I've also gotten lucky with 5 gallon gas cans the nozzle sometimes is just the right size. Find a funnel or gas novel that fits and keep it in the truck. It's saved me a few times. Thanks for the help troubleshooting my error code bud
@@Kostas2315: I have purchased a replacement funnel to open this stupid thing. But the little bottle I showed in the video has a good bit of wiggle room. It's no bigger tip to tip than the funnel I wanted to use or the finger I wanted to force. Maybe it's just wide enough at just the right spot to push those little tits in, but I'll be damned if I can see it happening. I can open that valve no problem, my issues is that I don't want that valve at all. Simple gas caps have been working fine for eons. If it ain't broke...Don't fix it. Ok, I just bought a Ford f150 has the exact same cap. When I filled it up the first time and added in stuff for high mileage vehicles. It all came pouring out underneath the truck! It held the $70 worth of gas but if it goes over...at all, or anything added it comes pouring out! This has never happened to any car I have had. Any idea what's going on?? And No, I did not use any kind of funnel
Diameter of the funnel is the difference. It’s made to fit the funnel that comes with the vehicle. Also same diameter as a gas nozzle. Look at the little trip trigger on the side
My friend my experiences if you got a vacuum leak is going to feel like you got a misfire on the right side of the engine against the firewall this is funky hose but it's a dealer part maybe you can straight cuz that's what I'm having to do right now but I haven't you can also straight hose any return heater hose it doesn't matter about that plastic reducer they having the hose because that I had to do and it works perfect
I'm not sure I fully understand what your talking about here, but yes a vacuum leak can cause a misfire. I don't have any misfires detected currently and all my fuel trims look normal. When you have a vacuum leak you'll often see evidence of it in the St/Lt fuel trim readings. Just a little hi PSI air pressure and some rapid actuation of this fuel inlet valve has solved the issue I was having. Cheers 🍻
Yup, and that still doesn't explain why or how a small bottle goes right in no problem but a funnel or my finger does not. This trick shown in the video has fixed the system, but it still bugs me. Cheers 🍻
@@Finite-Tuning the metal triggers on the side of the hole need pressure against them to open the door, the funnel isn't wide enough to touch the tabs to allow the flap to open. Anything wide enough to push the two metal taps (ie the lucas bottle) will trigger the release of the door. Once you get it it will make you feel dumb, definitely made me feel dumb.

I can't understand what it is that some of you can't understand! Literally the only possible way to see this valve any better is on a work bench, and I may do exactly that just to shut people up. It's a shit design and that was the point I was trying to make and failing to understand myself! Who what when where why and how did somebody think that this shit was a good idea? Yes, this was the simple fix for my chronic problem. When I get fuel now (usually once per year), I make sure to rapidly actuate the inlet valve using the gas station pump nozzle, just to make sure the inlet valve is happily seated. And that was it, that's all I do and the code has not returned since. Cheers 🍻

No gas mileage issues that I recall, just a check engine light. If your MPG is low, I'd plug in to check your O2 sensor oscillations and fuel trim to get an idea of what might be happening. According to my onboard MPG calculator, I'm holding about 17 MPG and I run 89 octane fuel with Lucas fuel injector cleaner in every tank...... This stuff here: amzn.to/49QV1bO
Draw yourself a circle now put a rectangle in the East and West positions. The 2 rectangles need to be depressed (toward the East and west) before you can open the valve. Once you figure it out you’ll slap yourself in the face!

The weird thing is that this all happened to my 2014 Cadillac XTS! This is going on the 3rd day without any check engine light or pending codes. You saved me a crap load of money! Frustration and getting pissed off only causes you to do something stupid like ramming a funnel into the flap and breaking the damn thing! The snout of the funnel is not as big around as the snout on your bottle that does open the flap and is not depressing the pins on each side that unlocks the flap to allow it to open! I too am a hot head and have learned in my thirty + years of under the hood working on cars, That it only makes people like neighbors who happen to hear you having a meltdown judge you and consider you a nut case! I worked in a transmission shop in my early twenties and got mad and threw a tool across the shop. The owner came out of the office and told me that if he ever seen me act so unprofessional in his establishment again that he would fire me on the spot! And he then asked me if I would be good with a mechanic that I walked around the corner and caught him beating the crap out of my car? He said just walk away and take a couple of minutes to use your head and figure out what your doing wrong and come back and act like a professional not a frickin madman! I still go off the deep end verbally sometimes and then feel like a dumbass and hope nobody herd me cussing at what I am working on, But I never get anything to work right when I'm pissed off. These days you can just go get on the internet and look up what you're working on and get the answers you need to fix it and I'm not to proud to say that with all the automotive knowledge I have that I look things up all the time! Especially if someone asks me and I can't give them an answer right off the top of my head, I tell them, Let's take a few minutes and go find out enstead of looking like an idiot and destroying something.

You can also rinse valve with a little gas after filling up while actuating flapper with pump nozzle, works for me.
