- while driving down the road a light popped up, "CHECK FUEL FILL INLET" wasn't exactly sure what it was, but after a little digging, this is how to fix it.

My message cleared by itself.I cleaned it Thursday and Saturday morning when i started the truck it was gone.I was driving it normal distances not to far.I used injector cleaner on a rag that covered the funnel.Dont wrap the rag.Just cover the funnel.Also if you lost yours auto parts stores carry them.Covering the funnel helps to clean it good.Thats all i used.

My local O'Reilly's didn't have compressed air so I just tried the seafoam spray and it worked like a charm. I cleared my engine code and it never came back. 2010 Ford escape!

Straight to the point!! Been having this issue for months and every shops tells me I need a gas cap 🙄 and just to check in the ford dealer the issue they charge $150. I hope this works

Worked for me! Light came on, was there for a few days. Eventually the check engine light came on. I performed this fix using carb cleaner (all I had) one day, did it the next day as a "just in case". Cleared check engine light, started truck, and light gone. Have run truck for 1 week, over 600 miles with no recurring issues.
Great video. This WORKED! I used WD-40 and the plastic filler tube that can be found near the spare tire. A five minute fix! I used an OBD-II reader to clear the code. The check engine light hadn’t come on but there was a fault code that showed up when I used the OBD-II reader. So far the message hasn’t come on again. 😊

I am so glad to have found this video it worked for me thank you thank you so much. And I also bought a gas cap with a key lock just to keep a debris out. After driving 8 miles the fuel inlet came off my dash board.

I disconnected the battery, used a piece of old but clean rubber garden hose (instead of the plastic gadget you show in the video, which I do not have), squirted some SeaFoam and moved the hose in and out etc, reconnected the battery an hour later, both errors gone (check engine, fuel fill). The cheapest OBD2 you show that I can find here in Canada is on ebay (I do not use amazon) direct from Hong Kong, free shipping. Likely that is where they are made. Thank you and Cheers!

So glad I found this video. I own a 2013 Ford Mustang and received a fuel intake error code and after a couple days of driving down the freeway my engine light came on. Received the PO 457 code and did what this video suggested. Hopefully after this tutorial, inspecting , and clearing out the code it all works out. And ive passed my smog check barely 2 weeks ago! So…. 🎉🎉🎉

It worked for me as well! Didn’t have to disconnect the battery. After cleaning it drove 10 miles or so and hit “reset” and the message went away, but the light was still on. After restarting my car it was all gone. I used brake cleaner instead because all the old heads at the auto parts store said that’s what they would use lol. “Get the flammable kind, and don’t get it in your paint.” Is what they said, lol.

@@TopShotta805 .... No , mine required a part replacement .... vacuum thing , can't remember what it was , was a long time ago .... I had a mechanic diagnose it , replace the part , wasn't expensive , was like $125 total or something like that ..... on top of the engine towards the back , small part , but hard to get to ..... I can change parts , it's the diagnosing I have troubles with , so I just let the mechanics do it ..... plus I live in an apt and we only have one vehicle , so it's hard for me to work on my truck , get parts , all that jazz ..... I'm sort of forced to "go to the mechanic and get er done"

2011 Ford escape, already did the seafoam a couple days ago for regular maintenance right about the same time the light came on after getting my oil changed. Then just a few minutes ago I saw it say check fuel inlet googled what it was clicked on your video now and I'll get home I'll unhook the battery and hopefully the lights will turn off, thank you.

I'm going to try this need for passing state inspection for texas. Light has been on for a few months.
Just wanted to say this was a great demonstration, (I personally used WD-40) I managed to clear my “Check fuel fill inlet” light and somehow it also cleared my P2096 code which I was glad about since that meant I didn’t need to replace my o2 sensor which they told me might be the problem. -2010 F-150 XLT 4.6 v8
We think alike man, I don’t have any Seafoam tho I have used it over the years in my gas. I do have WD-40 so will try, it could be my “capless” gas opening is not sealing completely on my 2011 Lincoln.

Thank you so much for a short but highly informative video I'm gonna go try to see if I can do a few of those steps as I don't have the seafoam ispray cleaner. Since I don't have either of those is there anything else I can use with the pump that that you showed that are found to safely loosen dirt and buildup. I located it right where you said. Always was wondering, if people siphon my gasoline if they were to try and dislodge the sensors as I happen to live in a neighborhood that was nice but has turned corrupt with people breaking out windows to steal stuff and siphoning gas out of vehicles all up and down my block. Do you think my alarm system would sound if someone was stealing my gas. I had over 200 miles of fuel I had put in it a few days ago and tonight it's registering 53 miles and that's when the message appeared to check the fuel fill

I tried this with fuel injector cleaner and my engine light came back within 48 hours. I’m going to try it with sea foam and see. Thanks! That little light of mine has been shining for 6 months.

Its pretty common for this to be your purge valve solenoid as well. If this doesn't work odds are its the valve. Its usually a really cheap part and a super easy fix.

Second, how do you like the kicker subs in the doors? Are they the Shelby kit or just some 8" kickers mounted in there? Did you do a aftermarket amp for them or was the factory amp enough?

Thanks for posting. I've had this issue for a while on my 2010 f-150. I've cleaned/lubricated fuel gate (as shown in your video), but am unfortunate enough to still get the p0457 code after the computer tests again. So it looks like there is a sensor/solenoid in the filler neck itself that can go bad, which means the entire neck assembly has to be replaced. Just offering this as an "also possible" with that OBDll code and "check fuel inlet" message.
Mine has been off for over a year now, but other people have said it doesn’t go away. Some people say it works for them
Seafoam is good stuff. I ran their fuel cleaner in my Corvettes about once every couple months. Yeah I need a scanner.
I agree. This stuff is awesome. Plus it helped me here clean around that cap, so I’m happy lol big rising issue for ford, and a lot of people are getting their entire fuel necks replaced!
I bought a mustang gt 2011 it had the filler light on I was going order the filler tube but now I'm try this also found a special cap for it that cost 30 it even comes with a key

I ask because a week or so ago my fuel inlet notification popped on just for a moment. I had an odb scan several times but NO fault codes popped up even though the check engine light came on and came back on after being cleared...Just wondering if the faulty fuel inlet could cause that acceleration hesitation during high speeds without any fault codes popping up on an odb scan...

A 15mm deep well socket makes a good substitute if you can't find your funnel.

Hi! is this also related to code 4055? I have a ford fusion 2012, had this kind of code,I cleaned the capless thing with wd40, I did not reset the dash/electronics, I still drove with the check engine light ON for few days but I was surprised today that the check engine light came OFF when I started my car. My question is " Did the check engine light come off because I cleaned the capless fuel? or is there a chance that it will be back again?
