Appreciate all your content on the 7.5, it has been my vehicle gun for a while due to all the reasons you’ve mentioned in this video and previous ones.
I’d like to see a comprehensive video of why people should own a 7.5. I love the long forum exhaustive breakdowns. I’m considering a 7.5. I’m less concerned with terminal ballistics because I run the Maxim defense Tumble upon impact rounds made specifically for short barreled rifles/pistols which (according to them) are designed to still have that tumble effect all the down to 500 fps!
Short AR pistols are a great option for close in self-defense, I cannot understand why most people dump on them, they may not be useful for 500yard shots, but as an armed civilian, the odds of being in a legal self-defense situation at that range is astronomical. I have tried several "shorty AR pistols with 7.5", 8.5", and 10.5" uppers and settled on 8.5" as my preferred configuration. My primary self-defense AR pistol is an 8.5" 5.56 with a reflex and backup iron sights, its stored with a 20-round mag and is extremely fast handling. For cheap practice use a CMMG 22LR adapter. Recently I started playing a 300 Blackout in the same configuration and have had a a 7.5" 7.62x39 setup as well for ammo diversity option for some time now.
Putting holes where holes don't belong is what these short guns are really good at. I can bust level IIIA body armor with a 7.5" rifle. You can't do that with a PDW or PCC.
I get this concept. I come from the automotive industry. It's the same concept as unsprung weight is on a vehicle. Meaning the weight of the wheel tire brake rotor hub and spindle assembly determine the throw inertia of the assembly away from the road surface. So the spring mechanism can more easily and faster push a lighter assembly back to the road surface. That's why light components are so important in racing applications and why you'll see things like drilled brake rotors and other weight saving techniques in motor sports. A good analogy is the heavier a hammer is the more time and effort it takes to control it and bring it from the end of the backswing to the item being restruck.
7.5's are AWESOME!!!! HUGE kick (recoil) and large fireball! Its so small its like a toy, and SO maneuverable. NO knocking walls when clearing rooms. I built a 7.5 SBR back in 95. I was a pistol kit that I put a stock on. Back then (apparently) it was SO unheard of because the forums blew up as to how I made it work.. It just did. this has been my TOY, my go-to and my project, upgrading every 3-5 years. It went from standard 90's AR to, with a carry handle to a flat top, new stock, and now a QD barrel, with Binary trigger.

@@justusbryant7366 it doesn't have anything to do with civ or mil. the fact is that under 10.5" 5.56 really looses alot of energy, where as .300 blk is optimized for short barrels. thats the logical reason.
@mtnbound2764 You dummy. It has enough energy to take someone down. They arent going to just sit there and take them or bounce off. You just repeat some stuff you heard. I bet everything that it does better than your 9mm!
@@A_Son_Of_Yahuah He may very well make a solid upper, but don’t sell yourself short. You could also build a good upper, as long as you do a little homework, and absolutely do not buy junk parts. Buy proven components as much as possible.

Wow, good job!!! that is one clever video bringing physics in without scaring people off. Another related one is people comparing weight specs on rifles. People don’t get that it matters how far off your body you have weight matters. Hence for example it is utter nonsense for practical purposes in shooting (carrying around - different thing) to compare the nominal weight of a standard pattern to a bullpup
I agree with you to a certain point on the bullpup thing. Eventually weight on a sling is still weight and bullpups are unfortunately on the heavy side.
@@Tier1Citizen yep, hence the ref to carrying. But sometimes not even that is the case. The MCX-Spear 16‘ 308 is half a pound heavier than my 308 MDRX. That would be a good side by side for comparison on the physics.
