I reviewed the video on the Police Bike to gain knowledge on the install for my Volunteer Auto system. Without any previous knowledge I was able to accomplish my install just the way your videos showed. I have already recommended you to a friend and I look forward to upgrading my bike as much as I can afford. Thanks to your videos I am able to upgrade my bike with confidence.
Thank you so much!
Just did this install on a friend's 2019 FLHTP.
This video was constantly used for step by step guidance during the install process.👍🏻
Thank you for watching!
I completed my install, today. Everything that came from Volunteer Audio worked like a charm. The radio was preprogrammed, the thumb control module harnessed in, the speakers fit perfectly as did the covers. The only challenge was to remove the bolts holding the tray to the speaker pods as they were loctide (!!!) in by the person that disassembled the police technology. Had to use a heat wire to loosen them bolts. Also, that same person did not put all bolts in that you remove using the swivel tool. 2 were missing. As for the swivel tool, I can confirm that a swivel 3/8 and a long extension worked just fine. Other than that the whole install was a breeze. Thanks a lot to Jay and the team for this awesome package, job well done. Do you guys plan on setting up a mailing list or something like that to keep in touch with all of us when updates are released? I go riding now and the first song I listen to on my new Soundsystem is ZZTop sharp dressed man. Could it be any other song? 🤣
Thank you so much! I’m glad it went smooth! Keep watching our UA-cam and if any necessary updates come out we will go over them in video
Great video Jay. If you remember I did my police bike back in June and had that horn issue.🤣Thanks again for all that help and the pics!😅 God Bless!!✌️😇👍
Love your installation. Thanks a lot ❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
Great video! I used it to figure out a couple of the things I wouldn't have known about with the thumb control connections. Plus this being my first radio install on a bike over 13 I'm glad you mentioned the swivel for the speaker pods. Great service as well. Ill be figuring out the amp next!
Thank you for watching! Be sure to call us when you purchase your amp, our setup is completely plug n play and the hard parts (setting gains and filters) we do before it ships
Looking forward to the horn wiring. I don’t have an issue with mine being on all the time. Mine just isnt working at all. I can jump across and make it work but wasn’t sure on how to do it. 👍
Great video. I want to change my system 2018 tri glide ultra, total factory system. Looking forward to the thumb control video so i can hear the audio of your system w/o the amp. God Bless you!
We always recommend an amplifier to get the most out of your speakers and a huge overall volume increase
I'm a proud owner of a 2020 FLHTP with RDRS since last Saturday. This video is awesome, thanks so much. As soon as have the dough, i put my order in. One question: to remove the speaker pods, you used what size wobble tool? the rest is really looking very easy so far. up next thumb controls video :) also, i like to add an amp and better speakers right away. i know me, down the road i want it so why not doing it right away. The hertz speaker, are they suitable to handle an amp? Thanks again for posting. Ride safe 🤙
I have a 21 flhtp this is on my Christmas list.
Will the thumb control module and Bluetooth receiver come preassembled into the radio wiring harness? I don't recall you showing how to install those and where to place them. Cannot wait for my radio package to show up at my door step 😊
Yes it will be plugged into the main harness already, just plug it into the new radio
Question Jay. If you were to install a setup with six speakers and subs and don't want to put an amp in the bags. Would you use one amp or 2 and which one?
Hard to have 6 speakers and 2 subs ran off 1 amp, which amps would depend on power requirements, I am more likely to build the system where 1 amp will run it and use higher quality components than more quantity
Question, if I just wanted to upgrade my speakers on my 2018 Limited would the stock radio be able to produce good sound with new hertz speakers?
You won’t get much increase without adding an amplifier
Putting together a 6 speaker system. Debating on on 4 hertz 6.5 and 6x9in lids or 4 kappa perfect 6.5 and kappa perfect 6x9 in lids. Also is hertz sp4.900 enough or 2 sounddigital800.4 amp?
Sp4.900 is stronger than 2 sound digital 800.4 and much better quality in every way, if your doing 6 speakers you have to go hertz because infinity is 3ohm and you cannot run 2 on the same channel without protecting the amp, the infinity will not work on sound digital amps at all
Hog tunes great paper weights
Just saw the 13 version is set for pre-order. Do you have any idea how much different this install would be on a 2013 FLHTP? I'm not really interested in adding hand controls.
I have not done that install yet to be able to tell you, if not using thumb controls it should be very simple
Thanks for the quick response, just finished my pre-order!
DO I HAVE TO ADD THE HANDLEBAR CONTROLS. IVE ALREADY REPLACED THE BARS AND DONT WANT TO GO THROUGH ALL THAT AGAIN ON MY 2014 ELECTRAGLIDE
I just spoke with you about this over the phone, not required but the police buttons may operate the radio and other police functions at the same time
I’ve got a 2017 Police and it has ABS as a standard feature. As far as I can tell after a bunch of searching is that Harley does sell pre-2020 handlebar controls but only for models that don’t have ABS. Is the only option to try and find them on the used market? Is it possible to just use the controls for a non-ABS bike?
Here’s the part:
Part Number: 71500248C
Fits '14-'20 Touring models (without Traction Control) with a Boom!™ Box audio system (for RDRS see P/N 71500561) and '14-'18 FLHTCUTG models. Stock on '14-'19 CVO Touring models.
Here’s the other part they reference:
Part Number: 71500561
Fits '20 Touring models with Traction Control and '19-'20 FLHTCUTG. Does not fit with Chrome Switch Cap Kits.
To me it looks like the 2017-19 police bikes are kinda screwed because we can’t get the proper handlebar switch gear.
There are controls available, we stock several options, give us a call at 1-844-30AUDIO
Could the horn connection be the reason on the horn on my 2015 Electra Glide Police doesn’t work? I press the horn button but get nothing.
Maybe so
I have a 2020 Police. When Iremoved the fairing I noticed that there was a control model mounted on top of the radio. It controls the lights and sirens I believe. Without the module plugged into the harness, my bike will not start. This is the exact location where the amp is to be installed. Uh oh!! I see that this police bike in the video did not have this module. Probably an older Police model. Where do you mount the amp on the 2020 and newer Police bikes?
All 2020 models have a security box that was similiar to onstar, Harley discontinued the service and this is only on 2020 bikes. If you unplug it your bike will not start and your dealer can flash your bike to no longer need it. It has nothing to do with lights and sirens, simply place the box on top of your new amp or somewhere else, just keep it plugged in
@@volunteeraudio Thanks!
i have a 2011 HD police will this stuf work on it?
No
@@volunteeraudio thanks, I picked up a 2011 electra glide police.
And am looking for options
How about a 2012 police HD Electra glide?
I have not done a 2012 police, most likely it does not have any wiring for radio in the fairing
i hate engineers
They try to make life harder
