How does the Rockford Fosgate PMX-HD14 compare to the HDHU14+ and HDHU14SI from Soundstream Reserve?

- In this video we are going to do a comparison between the new Rockford Fosgate® PMX-HD14 and the Soundstream HDHU14SI and HDHU14+ for Harley Davidson® Motorcycles! We go over the features of each radio and show why we think the Rockford Fosgate® radio is not ready and so we will not be selling it at Volunteer Audio.

Here’s my thoughts. Rockford works directly with Harley. They cant make it seem like their radio blows away the Harley system and that it’s junk (even though it is). It seems like this might be for the guys with the original boom radios because it retains the Harley type EQ settings. I’ve bought a whole stage 6 off of Jay and just flashed the boom gts because I had already invested in a whim and Harley sena helmet before I knew anything lol. But flashing the boom gts gives you a better EQ curve than that Rockford radio.
Long story short, I’m a customer of Jays and he looks out for his customers. He took care of me and I bought from him and had it shipped to Canada. His sales crew is amazing and very nice to talk to. Trust this man. He’s the real deal.
Those are good points but they make most of the stock Harley audio, maybe this is just the quality of their brand. Thank you for watching and thank you for your business!

@@volunteeraudio I became a fan of the soundstream radio from you and nvs audio. Dumb thing that has me a bit confused is that the 13 down 7-in is $1,000 and the 14 plus is roughly 900 bucks round it all why is the 13 down more expensive is there more added on to it
@@volunteeraudio and I've been a Harley rider for a long time in Rockford has shown that there were horrible wrong time ago you had too much volume to the speakers they start clicking and the radio will go in and out so only thing anybody would be paying for naturally it's just the name

@@volunteeraudio gotcha yeah I'm in love with that soundstream 13 down. I wish you guys offered a package for gloss inner fairing single din and soundstream HDHU9813. Because I want to change out my inner fairing from factor with the mirror on the sides and mat black horrible look

They work together currently, you just can not view the custom gauges. I know they are still actively working on a solution to making those gauges work but there is no eta until the problem is solved
My HDHU14 Screen when blank on me...
I sent it back, under warranty... its been 34 days. still waiting on my brand new 6 month old unit to return. Any common problems surfaced with this unit? Great content!
Who did you send it to? Soundstream has a great warranty and would swap it immediately.

Does the rockford radio do what the factory radios do and change the audio when the bike is running? I bought the hdhu.14si from you and can't find where to leave a review at, I might be blind and overlooked it sorry.
I did not see a change while running, did you watch the part where I go over the eq?
@volunteeraudio yes very thorough coverage of the eq functions, thought I would ask about audio changes while the bike was running because I noticed my factory radio did it and was a reason I upgraded
Great tutorial. RF's EQ curve isn't much different from the O.E. Boom. Which customers want "party mode"? Seems useless among the majority. I have a RF stage 3 yet that head unit seems rushed. No EITMS display, no custom guages.. C'mon man😅😅.
It seems like they simply tried to make a replacement radio for the dealership to sell, but without motorcycle info displayed, no internal navigation and no android auto. Also at a dealership price point
Does the HDHU14+ retain all the functions of the thumb controls? Or is the Si necessary for that?
The 14+ does basic thumb controls, track forward and back, volume up and down, mute and source. Nothing else, HDHU14SI has advanced thumb controls that scroll through CarPlay and android auto screens
I have the HDHU14SI and rockford stage 5. I cant get good power to my subs with it.. Any ideas?

No, not just motorcycles, android / google are not taking new applications for licensing currently for any new radios, existing companies still have access to android auto
The Rep said they tried and was denied.. but he did say they were working on some updates for the unit. He didn't say when or what...but it will be more features to be added to the unit. We shall see

Yeah, the soundstream has Android Auto ---IF you can get it to work. Mine hasn't worked since day one out of the box. Do you have a video showing step by step how to set up your phone with the soundstream radio? I would greatly appreciate one, as I've searched elsewhere and got nowhere. Called and was told to turn the bluetooth off on my phone, they try connecting it... guess what anrdoid auto does? it turns on the bluetooth connection... Kinda ticked I spent the money for a radio I can't use with android auto that advertises it works, and then told something inaccurate in regards to support - plus "its finicky and unreliable, so you just have to keep trying" to quote your employee.
Android auto needs a short automotive grade cable, low quality or too long of cable is always why people have an issue on android auto. Get a 1ft usb -c cable that charges and syncs. We have several great cables in stock. The guy is the supplier for Soundstream for sure he will not say that Rockford Fosgate is better than soundstream. i had soundstreah hd14 , and the hd14si and the rockford and i prefer by far the rockford fosgate

Yeah it can tell you all that on the gauges but you can't do anything about any of the settings unless you have the Harley-Davidson equipment to get into your ECM so what's the point
It’s not a tuner it is a gauge display like Dakota digital but in radio, what’s an example of something you want to get into and change?
Gt5 is still a better radio than both gt5 has apple and andriod withba simple flash my 22 SG has all SOUNDZ SPEAKERS WITH SOUNDZ 1K WATT AMP . My system gets compliments wherever i go
We build great systems around the stock gts radio but they always sound better with the Soundstream radio. Both sound great but it is audibly better with a better source unit
Having the GTS I can say that I look forward to the EQ features and the track mode features.
