I got the HDHU14plus and I have nothing but good things to say about it. Great quality and I have never had any issues. I’m really considering upgrading to the HDHU14SI just for the extra perks. If any of you have any doubts about going this route, don’t. You will be extremely happy with this radio. (Mic drop)

Anybody on the fence, just buy this radio already. It is a dramatic improvement. Jay and his team are amazing, and their customer service is the best in business.
Well my brother has the new soundstream,had it for about 4 months, the screen went black, but u can still hear the music, needless to say it's being sent back...warranty issues 🙄🤷🏽♂️
When 20k plus radios are out riding in Harley’s there will always be a percentage that have a warranty issue, we are seeing less than 1 percent have needed a warranty replacement and Soundstream has been great to address any issues that have occurred. The issue you speak of is a rarity and if something like this happens it is covered by warranty

All idatalink modules I have used before had ability to change measurements to metric
I'm giving thought to replacing the GTS in my 22 SG with this unit.
If you have ever replaced a factory radio before and instantly noticed the sound quality difference and felt the build quality was better, that is exactly the same on changing your GTS to the Soundstream.
You have both radios, I like the Hdhu14+ better as well!
Not to mention you can sell that GTS and almost/possibly cover the cost of this radio. People are paying ridiculous prices for used GTS’s.

Thinking about getting the HDHU14si and the RR2; how does the RR2 function with the ThunderMax ECM? Do you still get the gauges on the radio screen?
So I guess swapping the radio is the way to go if you want to avoid the hassle of finding a dealer that flashes your stock radio. But I am disappointed that it does not have a bluetooth wireless option.
It has wireless Bluetooth for phone, it does not have headset connectivity

I very much appreciate your informative videos. Just installed my radio and so far, so good. Question: On the screen shot of both radios, the HDHU14+ shows a weather and temperature setting on the left side. How do I get that on my radio?? Thanks.
That was a display from apple carplay, when an iPhone is connected that can be displayed

You would have to purchase the new SI version to see vehicle information through the idatalink module, your current radio cannot use the idatalink module, it does not have internal hardware or software to accept it

What about the WHIM system, that was not clarified? I definately want WHIM on my system. One reason for 2018 CVO Road Glide. You mentioned about it, was hoping that you would give more info about it.
Whim is not retained when replacing the radio
Would be nice if the Maestro was waterproof or water resistant. Expensive replacement if moisture gets into it. Which it will.
Mount it high and leave wiring in a drip loop away from the module, the current scosche module is not water proof either and this method works great
Hello Jay I CVO a 2015 CVO. I was wondering if I bought the SI model radio and bought the Harley pressure monitor tire valves, would I now be able to monitor tire pressure with this radio or is that option only work for the newer bikes that came with that from factory?
You cannot add tpms to the radio, it only reads the stock signal through the ecm
will the future batwing release also include older HDs? I have a 2007 EG Standard (FLHTPI)
There is a solution coming out later this year for the 1998-2013 batwing fairing bikes

Well, many people improperly did the updates and bricked the radios, had to get new radios through warranty, it was a major pain that people would not properly follow the instructions, updates are free from authorized dealers or you can purchase a thumb drive from us with updates preinstalled properly
Great video, my stock system on my 2019 RGS just !@#$ the bed, so I'm looking for anything but the stock system. One question, I have the Rockford Fosgate speakers and amps installed on my 6 speaker system, can I use the newest system?
As long as it is not the HD Audio by Rockford either of these radios will work.

Jay - I rarely listen to FM. I have a thumb drive plugged into the USB. With either of these soundstream systems can I plug a USB thumb drive in to play the factory usb port to play music and use my phone for droid auto or would I require that wireless piece to make it do what I need? OR do I need to have the music on my phone so i can use droid auto and music if it is plugged in directly?
You will need to transfer your music to your phone to listen to it while using android auto with either model radio
Did you have to change the main wiring harness on the 2014 police bike? They did not come with a stock radio connector or any factory provision to add a radio on the stock wire harness

Hello Jay...awesome video!! I have the plus model and I'm trying to do the gain adjustment on the sub amp using a dd1....seems like I have to turn the gain almost to full before it distorts ...is this normal?..can I do anything to increase the output coming from the radio?
No need, use the available range, the signal is clean so as long as you do not run out of gain your good

So other than the increased hand control flexibility (double functions), separate SiriusXM module (as opposed to just using the Sirius app via Apple or Android) and the ability to create "gauges" for various functions (RPM, Tach, TPMS for some bikes, pressure indicators, 1/4 mile, grip %, etc.), the units are identical. Any experience with the "plus" model and compatibility concerns when using the aftermarket Biketronics 4180 amp and Hertz Mille Legend speakers?
We always recommend going high level into the amp instead of using rcas

Please forgive my audio ignorance, but I not sure what you are referring to with "rcas". Obviously I already have the amp noted and have been very pleased the improved performance and sound over the stock 6.5 GT head unit (2018 RGU).

The MRR does all the same functions, there is no functionality gain using the mrr2 and you still have to remove your fairing to make changes to the mrr2
It’s unfortunate that the new one doesn’t work if you’re running the Thundermax ECM tuner. The radio doesn’t recognize the swapped ECM and therefore won’t communicate with the bike.
It works, everything does except the custom gauges, motorcycle info still displays and advance thumb controls work. Both data and thunder max are working on complete compatibility

I have a 2018 Road Glide with the GT raido and I've been looking at different radios for Android auto capability. I just can't justify 2k through Harley for the GTS. And I've also looked at the Sony but the problem with Sony setup is the thumb controls don't work the same as the factory radio... Meaning you cannot navagate the radio with the right thumb control.
I want to be able to navigate the radio with the thumb control and not have to always rely on the touch screen, because on the Road Glide the screen is a lot further away and I don't like doing it while riding.
Does this radio or the new SI model allow you to navagate the screen it with the right thumb control like you can with the factory radio?
The right thumb control does navigate through apple CarPlay and android auto, it does not navigate the radios setting menus

I haven't installed mine yet, waiting for it to get over 50 degrees outside, but I have a question about the navigation system. Does the SI come with a built in nav system and or can you or will you be able to download an app, Waze, to the radio directly?
It uses your phone for navigation, phone must be connected, this way it is always up to date and uses the embedded gps chip in your phone for gps position, it works even without cell service

If it is connected to the stock radio then yes this is still plug n play

no complaints about mine so far other than not compatible with any version of Ipod,flash drive works but im thinking any music you have will need to be MP3 and not M4A,as i have over 4,500 songs on flash drive and it only shows 999
These are restrictions from apple, you cannot have certified CarPlay and iPod control at the same time, apple wants your music on your phone, flash drives also must be properly setup for the radio, most radios have limits on number of songs in a folder, separating your music into folders will allow more music to be displayed, 999 is the maximum number of songs per folder

HI Jay i have the HDHU14+ i seen to be having issue with my android auto its goes on and off when i am using my android phone and even when i using a thumb drive it will cut off and come back on later android auto just stop working in reserve hudu radio any advice
You have a low quality or defective cable, you need an automotive grade usb c cable, you could have a bad usb cable from Harley side
should i change the pod speakers on my street glide (14) if but the plus? not interested in putting speakers in my bags.
Better speakers will for sure have a lot better clarity than the stock speakers

The interface is manufactured by a different company, soundstream makes the radio, then Idatalink or scosche build the interface, therefore they are bought separate but designed to work together
Anybody else having troubles with this radio operating with Boom 2 audio? I have installed it and I have no sound at all. I'm guessing it is still not turning the boom audio amps on.

I got a 2022 road glide st with the new boom! GTS radio, is it worth swapping for this one HDHU 14si, I’m not a huge fan of the GTS honestly.

We will stock the radio but not recommend for Harley use, it is not ipx rated and does not compare in Harley use
@@volunteeraudio set aside the application and ipx rating and what makes it a better radio? I'm not worried about the ipx rating as I don't wash my bike with a hose and rarely do I get caught in the rain.
I had the Sony XAV-AX7000 in the bike and took it out for the Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX and absolutely loved the Pioneer over the Sony. Then Precision Power released the HDHU.14 so I sold the Pioneer to buy the Precision Power and hated it so I sold it and got stuck having to reinstall the Sony.

This radio does not connect to headsets or wired intercom or cb
'14 SGS with factory boom. Do I need a amplifier or is this kit the whole deal? Thinking my amp is shot, have no sound and just rather upgrade.
This is just the radio, if you have a stock amplifier it would need to be removed or replaced if it has failed

We have went over this in other videos, sound digital amps are common ground and when connected to this radio via rca short the differential rca outputs and cause noise. It is a low quality amp issue and the dsr1 does not help any. You must run high level in to keep the noise to a minimum. We suggest better amplifiers

@Volunteer Audio will do. My 22 Roadglide is my first Harley. I came from a Yamaha Eluder. It had it's share of shortcomings too. Would really like to have Bluetooth coms with my passenger. I really don't listen to audio through the speakers. We wear full face helmets with headsets inside.

Is the Maestro Rr necessary?
With the Si model it is necessary, it communicates with the ecm in your Harley and allows the radio to turn on, retains thumb controls, and creates the gauge info on screen

Jay thanks I will be seeing you you will be installing that in my CVO. I know nothing about technology. I think I need to upgrade my speakers I’ll probably keep the same amp I want to keep the cost down some. I hate to call you all the time but I’ll give you some money upfront if you need it. May will be there. I can install radio myself I just don’t know about the technology. And I talk to you you suggested the radio you have that I have a CVO and I would like to monitor my engine oil pressure stuff like that I have a voltage on the gauges but I would like to know my oil pressure anything else .
