I was 16 in 72 and lucky to see them play together in Miami Fl in 72 BB King played on a white grand piano and Leon played on a black one. Incredible! I loved Leon's music and was so happy when Elton John stepped up to help him in 2010. He should be known by anyone who appreciates the blues and rock and roll he's a legend
There is a very moving clip/interview with Leon Russell and Joe Walsh (Also on this Recording) in the BB King documentary “Life of Riley” where Leon explains how he picked up on BB’s Speech pattern which was musical in it’s own way despite different keys… And how he put this to use when they collaborated… He said how moved BB was (to tears) for Leon’s accompaniment… And in the clip you can see Leon is quite affected even years later… Sadly both are now legends for the ages but they will be remembered. it is well worth seeing and even owning this fantastic B.B. King documentary.

we saw Leon in Luckenbach a few months before he passed. He had the same story to tell. It was wonderful to hear him tell it again.
