This is the loosest tight groove I've heard in ages. It just locks together from start to finish & who better to serve it up than JJ Cale & Leon Russell. Two of the hottest audio cooks in music. No wonder that every muso of worth & talent, including Eric Clapton wanted to jam with them. Just check out the musos they connected with. Enough to make the dead arise & boogie. ❤
The Tulsa trio of JJ, Leon and Carl Radle on bass making some good vibes as they always did. All part of the fantastic Tulsa sound. Clapton would come into town along with George Harrison during Church Studio to jam with them and even hit some Tulsa music hotspots, at times sitting in with the band. Great times in Tulsa during the '70's.
I lived near Tulsa for 9 years & they have more GR8 bands playing in bars than most cities have visit! Oklahoma is a GR8 place for music lovers! Also saw Leon at the Kinetic Playground in Chitcago when he was with Joe Cocker & the Grease Band, early 70s..
Leon is *Hot* here, he always was and these 2 made Magic in Music. Love both these Souls. God please grant them eternal Positive Energies. Thank you for the Music Makers. ❤
I'm so in love with Leon I wish I met him several years ago I love his music and his eyes wow!!!! Need I say more even with long white hair he had the voice and moves
Just gotta love both of these guys! Can’t help but hear that great JJ Cale rhythm guitar all the way through! The vocals are a bit sketchy but no fakery here just old analog performance 🤷🏼♀️
This is a really hard song to play and too call this pure perfection is an understatement. Hard to be the original and just insane Freddie King and this doesn't even come close to that but this pure musical genius level quality no doubt and the passion to boot.
This is such a groovy song and if ya like this one I would encourage yall to check out Rez Band " Where Roses Grow " Live and also Amazing Grace by Dan Vasc rock version 😊 Hey Jesus loves and digs yall ✌️
Wonder if anybody remembers who wrote this song? It wasn't Freddy King - although he did a great performance of it. It was Don Nix, a songwriter from Memphis, and it is one of his biggest compositions.
Turn JJ's mike up a wee bit! I know he sings in a low key manner, but he's completely drowned out here. I love his voice too much to not be able to hear it! Still great to watch anyway. Thanks ❤
What’s the guy in the rainbow bowling jacket left of Leon’s role in the band, is hey playing a clav or a Hammond b3 or is he like a dj/mixologist that’s cue’ng up lo-fi auxiliary sonic loops for white noise/depth? Also who’s on bass is it Carl Radle?? Thanks y’all livin on Tulsa time in the blue ridge
I can't be the only person who finds this amazingly talented piano man gorgeous xxx
Been in love with this gorgeous master of time & space since '69.
Yes !! I like the way you stated "gorgeous master of time & space".....absobloodylutely!!!! :)@@sharonjarnagan8045
I’m still in love with this gorgeous and amazing man!! So Talented!! Why does he have to be gone from us so soon??
Amazingly beautiful
He was sooo gorgeous...that hair and eyes
What an excellent duo!. Leon and JJ were two great musicians and songwriters and are sadly gone and missed…

I know thousands of artists have played this song but I love Leon’s screech !! Cannot be replicated
You are 100% right. When he looks at the camera during his solo I lose it every time
The most excellent one is on Freddie King's CD.... Of course produced by Shelter records.

Two of Oklahoma's finest.
Love Leon's scrawling voice!

Just gotta love both of these guys! Can’t help but hear that great JJ Cale rhythm guitar all the way through! The vocals are a bit sketchy but no fakery here just old analog performance 🤷🏼♀️
@peaceinpeaceout1. Thanks for posting. Two legends.

Don nix wrote this. Check out him n his band playing it live. Nothing finer
Hard is an individual thing. Maybe for you but some do it really well

Doesn't show JJ's guitar work, but u can get the message...,if you listen up nice jam from two Tulsa Okies!
There are several others that did this little tune..Jeff Becks is my fav💃💃💃🤪🤷♀️
The best ever. Even in 2023!
This is such a groovy song and if ya like this one I would encourage yall to check out Rez Band " Where Roses Grow " Live and also Amazing Grace by Dan Vasc rock version 😊 Hey Jesus loves and digs yall ✌️
On Freddy Kings version of this song, you can hear Leon playing. Is simple but brilliant.
I learn something new everyday. Cheers
Love them both.
Leon's a God. ❤
History Lesson. JJ and Leon playing Don Nix’s song. Freddie King version and Joe Bonamassa’s version at the Greek.
Brilliant but I still love JJ’s album version even more

Don Nix recorded a lot of great country style gospel music too
Don wrote this song after he fell out of a story window! He fell asleep sitting near it (open). He tells the details in his book.
Leon had some purdy eyes....
Oh yeah!!!
And great hair
Something beyond fun...
Turn JJ's mike up a wee bit! I know he sings in a low key manner, but he's completely drowned out here. I love his voice too much to not be able to hear it! Still great to watch anyway. Thanks ❤
The Tulsa Sound 😊
God this was the best
my favorite version!!
No way I could have had any more better than that rock 4:07 😊
OKIE/SOO/PREAM!
Miss you guys
Value ...
Tulsa was like Chicago for white boys in the 70's. And them white boys knew how to jam, yo!
Great groove. Pity about the missing vocals in the mix....
Too cool..;)
Freddie King does a version with Leon that's a killer....
Well hell...let me go down

Yep that's Carl and Larry on electric piano, Leon is on the B3

😍🕺🏻🎸🥁🎹😍
There's a staircase in the newly renovated Church Studio and at the top of the bottom door of the staircase it says the chorus to this song .
Too bad you can't hear the piano. Larry Bell on organ!
@NatureBoy1957 Jeff Beck!!
Does not get close to Freddie King's, but really nice.
Peter sellers wonderfull name user black ir ebony girl
cant hear leon!? too much drums and bass drum and not enough piano!
Not the best two to sing together but otherwise as good as it gets.
Don Nix wrote this for Elvis. But he didntwsnt to do it?????💃💃🤪🤷♀️
Love Leon and JJ but they shoulda left this song off the set list. Only Freddie King on this one baby.
shut up fool
@@therealchrislamont could not be said any better!
Way more laid back than FK could listen to this for years.
What the!🦻👂
I have this on my "Going Down" playlist. And Freddie King's, & Joe Bonamassa's... the list grows.
I've never heard jj cale play lead guitar that well but seriously doubt that's him .
Watch the footage of 10 Easy Lessons from this session, they focus on his hands and it glorious.
REALLY !
