Beautiful, I was fortunate to see Leon in several venues in the Cleveland Ohio area, his 2 outstanding standards "Song For You" and "This Masquerade" will be remember for decades to come, but Leon playing gospel/hymns/worship music even closer to my heart Praise be to our Lord!! thank you Leon for all the music you gave us!! Bruce Thanks Gina for posting!!
Leon always composed from his heart. His love for others is evident in his words. Your brother must have been much loved by our Leon. Bless both you and your brother for being worthy of our admiration.
Absolutely love this tribute from Leon to his friend Sherman. Breaks my heart when he says 💔 "Goodbye Sherman", can't get through this without tears. I just think about their wonderful reunion in Heaven, and that we'll all be reunited soon.
Leon knew God's grace very early. Roll Away the Stone was one of his 1St hits. Yes, we're all sinners and our Redeemer loves authenticity more than perfection!
YES , JUST LIKE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US / THANK GOD ALL MIGHTY FOR HIS ONLY SON AND HIS HOLY SPIRIT / YOU MEAN, MAY GOD BLESS HIM / ONLY THE GREATER GIVES THE BLESSING / AMEN
I was privaledgded with the opportunity to see this Musical Genius here in Central Virginia at the Lockin Farm near Lovingston in the Spring ( I believe April) the year we lost him. When he did this his band was on break, he played straight through the whole show, there wasn't a dry eye in the small audience gathered for this special event. At the time, I had no idea how lucky I was to be there.
I was lucky to have seen him about twelve years he was on that new bus . His beautiful voice still was the greatest it never changed . I was simply ecstatic cause. I stood by the bus. And I got 2 3:033:03 autograph pictures from him ! I loved him from the very beginning ❤️ . He was a very old soul ! I was able to get that vibe instantly ! He has and will always be my most favorite artist and lived with a pure soul ! With his passing over to his new spiritual journey a lot of his followers were and forever be broken hearted ❤BOOGIE ON WHERE THERE IS NO SPACE AND TIME 😢 😊
Gina~ Thank you SO much for sharing your video with the world. As a transplanted Tulsa girl to the dregs of NM, I treasure these moments that bring back so many good times of growing up in Tulsa. I worked at Peaches Records all those years ago & had some interaction with Sherman from time to time, mostly thru The Oaks. Sherman is surely is watching over you and what a Guardian Angel he must be!
Revisiting & celebrating this wonderful man who would leave us just 3 yrs later. Thx again for this loving tribute to Sherman & now to Leon. ♫ ♪ ♫🎩🎹♫ ♪ ♫
Thanks so much for this Gina! We lost Sherman too too soon. His memorial here in Independence was a tearful experience of both joy and grief. I wish Leon could have been here in person but, I didn't know at the time how frail he actually was. This is the first time I have found a recording of his tribute to Sherman. Thanks for sharing your personal moment with us!
RIP Mr. Russell you will be missed a true legend

Gina - are you really the sister of Leon Russell?
Is this the Sherman that was "reading Shakespeare" ?
No. That was Sherman Jones, the Mad Dogs tour manager. This was sung in honor of Sherman Halsey (1957-2013).
