@ So far its been performing brilliantly in low light, especially with my GM lenses. The autofocus is insanely fast (major jump from the A6500). You might be right if you are a photografer but for videos there are a lot of advantages to apsc. And since you hardly ever shoot wide open videos the lose in depth of field is not a big problem.

I bought a 6700 last month to replace my aging a6400 (I switched to Canon Full-Frame a couple years ago, but slowly migrating back to Sony for various reasons) as my daily walk-around photo camera and for video creation. I have only a couple of minor gripes with my a6700, a) When continuous shooting, if I rotate the camera it doesn't register the orientation as vertical. So, they need to be rotated in post. Just wish the camera would update the orientation on its own. I may do this when a walking subject gets closer or further away to me. b) The usb-c port is horizontal rather than vertical. Sometimes I like to tether using a right-angled cable (to stop the cable sticking out and putting pressure on the port), so its actually quite a big deal for me. This means I basically have to stick with my full-frame for tethered shooting. c) Lack of second card slot, which personally I don't really mind but the redundancy would be nice to have. I don't care when tethered, as I have the photos on the computer and the camera but see "b" :D Otherwise, if those weren't there, I think it would be my favorite camera I own.
I've the ZV-e10ii, same sensor, it's decent, but as a B Cam I do not find myself reaching for it. But as a second angle its great to have a second camera that can shoot with near A quality
I own A6000, A6500 & A6600 because APS-C gives me the size/weight compromise I need. But, I now need blackout free shooting which none of these, nor the A6700, provide. So I'm currently using the RX100VII whilst I wait for a Sony solution to come along. But that doesn't appear likely, so I have to contemplate A1/A1 ii with APS-C lenses. Or switch to OM-1 ii or R7 ii.

Now I think im going to sell my zv-e1 because of how much I pick up 6700 more for everything i need (plus APSC = Cheap quality lenses too lol)
I had an A7Rv and bought the a6700 - I immediately asked myself why? My A7Rv in crop mode is basically an a6700, so I returned. It really wasn’t that much smaller when you put on a big lens and a baseplate or cage. Even though I absolutely loved it, it just seemed redundant to me (I really don’t do video). With the FF and APS-C mode options, one lense basically becomes two. 30mm works as a 50something, and 85mm as 125-130. this was going to be my go to sports camera but the very thing that turned me down was the 1/4000 mechanical maximum shutter speed. That was a deal breaker because it pretty much meant i wouldn't be able to actually freeze action, i would have to stop down the lenses (consequently losing light and subject separation) and the worst of all, that I would have to buy filters for all my lenses. Also regarding the screens: the a7rv screen still tilts to a side, making it quite uncomfortable. If you have been in photography for more than 6 years you would have heard of the screen of the sony a99/a77/a99ii/a77ii, it's basically a full HD 60hz rate screen that can sit on top and flip over to take the cleanest selfies, while you're looking at the lens.
Full frame lenses are (usually) higher quality than APS-C lenses. They are also heavier and much more expensive. A7Cii body is smaller but it is only 40% of the overall package when FF lenses are so heavy and big. It does not really help much unless you pair it with very small lenses.
I was tempted to get the A6700 but I've always preferred Lumix and I ended up getting a stupid Black Friday deal on the S9 so yeah. A6700 will be bought at some point I'm sure.
This is my dream camera to have. I am currently using a ZVE-10 for almost 2 years. I think a6700 will be a great upgrade for me. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience using it 😄
Love this camera so much but just got the a7c ii to test. A6700 is good but working in good and hospitality with this during daylight savings has been my worst nightmare with low light. Still may keep both a6700 and a7cii if it didn’t impress
@@cjm8160 so they arent bad in low light just not as good as their FF equivalents but ideally if you really need low light performance you can get a faster lens or crank up the iso a bit and use a denoiser but i prefer using a manual lens with a really fast aperture and it works pretty well

Fantastic video! If Lumix did APSC cameras I'd definitely grab one but oh well, I'm stuck with the S5IIX hahhaha BTW congrats again on the move to the new state! I really can't wait to see how the new studio will be shaped!
It’s a great camera, I have the A7rv and the 6700 - which I found with a kit lens for the price of the camera alone. The 6700 is a great compact walk around, and paired with the 70-350 a great combination. It definitely benefits from faster lenses, but with modern software noise isn’t as much of an issue. It functions like a mini-A7rv, with some features better, and some not as good. the body is similar to the a7cii and a7cr. I believe the sensor is essentially a cropped version of the RV sensor, with the benefits of the “AI” chip. I enjoyed your video, for the most part - but the banger joke + office clip was cringe.
I have the same combo but recently upgraded from the sony 70-350 to the Tamron 50-400 and the image quality is a lot better. Downside - it’s larger and heavier but for wildlife the best choice combined with this camera.
Is it DX? I’ll have to check it out I have the Sony 100-400, but stopped carrying it with my full frame on my daily walks with my dog, in favor of the lighter kit. Tamron is making wonderful lenses, I have two of their shorter zooms.
@@karn3094 the Tamron is fullframe but works a charme on the APS-C sensor. The corner sharpness and general quality of the pictures is quite a good bit better than the Sony 70-350 I have on the 6700
The view finder is great… now only if my vision could take advantage of it 😅. S9 for the win since my other 4 work cameras view finders have seemingly getting less and less usage.
The 6700 will be my next Black Friday buy, but in 2025.... I just "downgraded" to the Samsung NX500. Something about using retrotech that still impresses me. That said, the 6700 gives me everything I would want plus more, plus modern UI features.
Your view finder should not be black. I'm not sure why yours is, but that's a malfunction. You should either get that fixed, or get your camera replaced. I don't have an a6700, but I've played with enough of them at Best Buy. I do have an a6600 though.
I shot professionally on Fuji bodies for 5 years. Not one client was able to tell the difference between my XT-3's and a full frame camera lol. The only time you will need something like a 50+ megapixel sensor is if you are shooting high end commercial work. Professional video might be a different story, as I'm not a videographer. But on the photo side, people just waaaay overrate sensor size.
The A7Cii definitely is the hybrid win in my book too. I keep looking though to see what else is best to pair with it. Difficult decision! Maybe ZV-E1. Maybe one of these crop sensor cameras... Tough choice.
I just realized I wasn’t subscribed to you even though you were the first channel that opened up the world of all things cameras, video/photo related to me and it made me feel so guilty lol I’m def subscribed now 😅
agreed. People keep saying the same old that "full frame lenses are expensive". Well, Sony G IS expensive. Besides since ff lenses have larger subject separation, placing a 50mm 1.4 on aps-c will give you 75mm focal length so it is almost as an 85mm 1.8 with 1.4 light aperture!
Not really....there are bunches of great APSC lenses these days and also at a lot cheaper price. Viltrox Pro series (27mm and 75mm are so damn great lenses), Sony 16-55, Tamron 17-70 or Sigma 18-50....the Sigma prime lenses and many more. Unless you own FF too then it makes sense to use FF lenses.
@@rsat9526 you obtain more benefits if you use full frame lenses on aps-c thinking about the crop. Sure they're more expensive but you can also go for reach if you buy a telephoto lens. The larger the sensor the less suitable for tele. Large sensors are usually there because of historical format and the larger they are the more they're inclined for portraits and landscapes
I had an a6400 and it did everything I wanted in a camera system when pair with some really good lenses. After looking at some of my images I had archived on an external drive, comparing it to my current EOS R10 and EOS RP, well, Canon is just ok. Sony pictures were great. I don't shoot video, so, I might look for another used a6400 in the near future. I owned the a7III also and loved it as well. Some of us get trade happy when the next best thing comes along, and, I admit it, when our city had a camera store it was easy to do, so, why not try them all. So, I have owned Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, Sony, and Fujifilm over the decades. I still own Canon and Fujifilm. My best Canon was the 5DMarkIV and Fujifilm it was the X-T3, when I looked back at the images I took. In my Sony images, I couldn't tell much difference between the images I captured between the a7III and a6400.
The fx30 is better and you have the peace of mind that your camera wont overheat but go ahead get the a6700 and when it overheats dont say i didnt warn you. I love shooting 4k 120 fps S+Q when im solo filming myself for track and field reps(block starts) however try this with the a6700 and it will overheat fairly quickly.
Fx30 is the best camera you can get for that price range if the crop factor is a concern just get a wide angle lens like the e11 f1.8 its pretty much 17mm ff equivalent, the only other real benefit to those FF is better low light(getting really fast aperture lenses can help to negate this on an aps-c i use a 7artisans t1.05 if i am doing anything in lowlight just have to prepared to learn manual focusing its very easy with a little practice) and wider in tight spaces otherwise the images are very very similar. Only real reason to stick with the A6700 is if you are primarily into photography(need the EVF) and or need burst photography otherwise i think the FX30 is better and never have to worry about overheating. Why do you think the camera is cheaper and smaller? it will overheat... not worth it, going to drive you insane!!!!
@@jaredazriel If you plan on doing 120p then better get FX30....for many videographers, they do not shoot 120p for that long. I only bought a couple of APS-C lenses but I have a bunch of FF lenses and I use them on the A6700 quite a lot, especially the long ones.
You’re right man! These smaller Sony cameras are fire! I got the A7Cii for its form factor and boy is it a pleasure to use.
A7Cii body is smaller but it is only 40% of the overall package when FF lenses are so heavy and big. It does not really help much unless you pair it with very small lenses.
Is this camera good for mostly photography?
I was tempted to get the A6700 but I've always preferred Lumix and I ended up getting a stupid Black Friday deal on the S9 so yeah. A6700 will be bought at some point I'm sure.
Didn't the 6700 come out over a year ago? 🧐
Can you please explain this further? Does the a6700 struggle with autofocus in low light?
@@cjm8160 so they arent bad in low light just not as good as their FF equivalents but ideally if you really need low light performance you can get a faster lens or crank up the iso a bit and use a denoiser but i prefer using a manual lens with a really fast aperture and it works pretty well
@@cjm8160 I dont have the same issue with good lenses and right setting of the exposure triangle.
@@cjm8160At low light i noticed the autofocus is slower and less precise. Also there’s much more noise compared to a a7iv.
I had the a6500. Loved it and rocked with it for 7 years. Now on the s5ii but still keep a6500 still really good. A6700 seems great choice honestly. I am a bigger dude so the bigger body of the s5ii worked for me a lot but you can’t go wrong.
Would you choose this over a ZV-E1?
I picked up my A6700 last week and the blackout of the view finder is irritating. 😢
I definitely appreciate you saying to ditch full frame and consider asp-c for "value" purposes. Because some youtubers try to to convince us that crop sensor is BETTER than full frame in every aspect of quality, form, and function. BTW, i do love this camera but just can't dig the rangefinder evf.
6700 plus the Sigma 18-50 F2.8 is a dream travel setup. Skip the Tamron 17-70.
Why ? Cos of the Weight ?
@@courageoyibo6716 the form factor is so just so small and light
@@lamb8648 alright I thought it was because of the stability of lens (VC) clashing with the IBIS of the a6700
@@courageoyibo6716 tamron 17-70 at 2.8 is a hot mess compared to sigma, you need to step it to at least f4 and then it's just a big meeh as you can use sony 18-105 f4
@@igorvuk4454 Im glad I was not the only one. I had to keep it at F5.6 to get good images out of it. If I open it up to 2.8 between 60-70MM, the images were unusable. Tried multiple copies on many bodies including an A6600 and a new A6700. Just no contrast at those ranges without stopping down.
This was review was insanely good and informative ... Thank you so much! 👍
Good camera but in a world where the Lumix s5 , Canon r7 and R8 exist it's not that easy to choose
Fantastic video! If Lumix did APSC cameras I'd definitely grab one but oh well, I'm stuck with the S5IIX hahhaha
BTW congrats again on the move to the new state!
I was in-between the a6700 or the R7 and I went with the R7
More aps-c G lenses like the 15/1.4 and I’d be tempted to move on from Fuji.
The 6700 will be my next Black Friday buy, but in 2025.... I just "downgraded" to the Samsung NX500. Something about using retrotech that still impresses me. That said, the 6700 gives me everything I would want plus more, plus modern UI features.
I don't have the kind of money to buy a6700, so I am opting for a6600 at 700$.
I own a Nikon D3100 and jumped to A6700 with two prime 1.4 lens
Ya too bad it overheats when recording 4K for any length of time. I chose the A7Cii instead….
BUT IS IT THE DADCAM? ❤
Its going to be very hard to get me off of my XT5 With dual sim and 40mp sensor
I'd like to get one of those but I have too many e-mount lenses.
I'd definitely consider this camera if I didn't have my A7Cii already. Kickass crop cam!
The A7Cii definitely is the hybrid win in my book too. I keep looking though to see what else is best to pair with it. Difficult decision! Maybe ZV-E1. Maybe one of these crop sensor cameras... Tough choice.
Ayy jack killed it on your logo!
just picked up the body only. Paid $900 from bestbuy open box. very happy. just need t o figure out what lens i should pair with it.
Just get them all. You know you want to! 😹
Came for baby Levi, stayed for daddy Zach
My camera collectioin is as follows a6700>a6000>T7, Cybershot.
Once I can build up and have a budget for a camera like that. Until then its off to thrift stores I go.
I just realized I wasn’t subscribed to you even though you were the first channel that opened up the world of all things cameras, video/photo related to me and it made me feel so guilty lol I’m def subscribed now 😅
Great content ) thanks!
I have both APSC and full frame.
This video is cash 🔥your grades are lookin so nice
i like when you talk about PP
Full frame lenses are they key to making the a6700 a beast
@@rsat9526 sigma 18-50 2.8 is an absolute beast
@ no, I had those sigma primes, yeah they’re good, but the FF sigma primes are significantly better
We all be trying to shoot those 12 hour sessions..
"affordable", $1500 is definitely an enthusiast stretch!
Поддержу, камера шикарная, видео снимает супер! S-Log3 творит чудеса! И я могу опять использовать наплечный риг!
Single card slot is a deal breaker for me. Sony is doing it on purpose to force pro on the full frame line
waiting for the new studio
Love the a6700! definitely an underrated camera for the money!
MY BABY 🔥🔥🔥🔥🎥🎥😭😭
Spend the extra 200-300 and get a ZV-E1. Full Frame on a Budget. Practically the same features as this with FX3 sensor.
6700 is a beast for sure.
u said "only $1400" ??
The a6700 overheats at about 50 minutes of shooting 4k30 slog3.
That is the only thing that I can complain about. Amazing camera otherwise!!
Yep. I was wondering if they had fixed this. Even with latest firmware, I still sometimes only make it 15-20 minutes. Bummer
@JamesEstes927 there are 3rd party fans that can fix this problem
I heard affordable, i laughed, then started crying bc it not really affordable where i live (2 grand)
a7cii not that much bigger
Feels paid
Zv e 10 mark ii is even better
UA-camrs are not filmmakers😊
I have 0 overheat issue with 24p and 60p and I live in Thailand (it's damn hot) but I don't do long form video much only short ones. The longest I have done is 2-hour session of live music band (4K24p) with short pauses between each song....no overheat issue.
same price as a7c
Ditch full frame? Not on your life.
NO thank you. For the same money I'll buy a panasonic s5ii
Nothing, nothing compares to quality of full size sensor. I've been down this path before. Go sell your snake oil somewhere else. How much did Sony pay you?
Affordable??🤡🤡🤡
"and AI features" stopped watching there
Ugly cameras. Would never replace my Z fc with one of these.
Eh
