    Crikey Rob & Chris, that blown engine was seriously destroyed! After Chris took off the sump and we all saw it looked almost half full of smashed engine parts, I thought to myself “Ford should rename the 1.0 sump pan “parts collection box” 😂🤣🤔

    Re audio, I think you're missing a trick here. You could buy a dual channel wireless receiver from Røde which supports 2 clip-on microphones with a 70m range. With a system like this you could both be miked up and we would not keep losing half the conversation. Plus, you could set up the camera on the tripod when you are both working on a car but still record perfect audio from both of you without having to be within the IPhone's very limited internal microphone range. Cheers.

    MOT in the summer is the best decision any home mechanic will make even if that means bringing it forward just once by 6 months. Nothing worse than trying to do your MOT repairs out on the street on a cold and wet winters day.

    You don't have to unhook the coils, to crank and build oil pressure. If you hold the accelerator pedal to the floor and crank, this is call clearing mode. Which turns off the injectors, to clear a flooded engine. Which will achieve the same thing with out unhooking anything.

    Made me laugh when you said without pausing to Chris 'that's when you almost headbutted the steering wheel' and without a change in tone straight back to the con rod investigation. Great video and showing the sump with a multiple engine parts is a sight to behold. Carry on with the great work Rob and Chris.

    That wet belt is an Italian design. There is a great video about it being replaced and substituted by a mechanic that works on a taxi fleet, he shows and details the full procedure. Good job guys. 👍🏼

    • @matthewc.419
      @matthewc.419 2 роки тому

      Iv never heard of a " wet belt " till a few videos ago
      I think its a werid stupid design me

    • @sbrader97
      @sbrader97 2 роки тому

      @@matthewc.419 ford claim it was to reduce friction and the belt originally has a 150k mile change interval. Its so stupid it costs near enough a grand to get the belt replaced on these ecoboost and needs specialist tools for this specific engine. The updated engine in the latest mk8 fiesta since 2020/mk4 focus has timing chain now remains to be seen how that holds up. The service intervals are too high and people might be getting the wrong oil put in same weight but not the one that meets the ford specifications for this engine so that might be wearing the belts faster too. Anything to save some miniscule amount of co2 and mpg at the cost of reliability smh

    Hi guys. I'm just catching up with your channel. Love what you do and your honesty and fair prices. I used to be on the tools and then moved on to teaching MV at a college. Just remembered one cheap tool that we used that would be handy for you guys. We used a mechanics stethoscope to locate noisy water pumps and the like. You can hear individual valve clatter, individual alternator bearing noise and even the coolant passing through the hoses! Lol. They are really cheap, get the type with the changeable probes. Saves any disassembly and is accurate. Hope this is useful. Cheers guys 👍🏼

    Well done Chris and rob for finishing up that car, Chris even found some change! I like the wheels as they are, as you say they're not going to be done again. The car sounds sweet now and has a years new ticket so all good. I am with you on the question of mileage, it is illegal to 'clock it anyway but the car has done much more than the engine so that is the true mileage with wear and tear. You might expect a race engine to destroy itself like that but a three cylinder block, that is crazy. I think maybe they should change the service intervals. Thanks again Rob and Chris for such an indepth video hope you both have a great weekend. 👍 👍

    Rob - just to correct you, the "recommendation" from Ford is to change that wet belt at 150k/10 years old. Oil changes are recommended at 12,500 intervals on our 2013 model with the 1.0 125 engine. Ours is currently showing 136,000 and running fine, but fast approaching the point where we need to decide if we just carry on driving until it goes BOOM, or spend a lot!
