Use a compression test pipe on a compressed air line ( stop valve dropping)and you can weld a bit of metal to use as a lever bar to sort out the collets ( u can also do valves stem seals like this without taking the cylinder head off

I could watch you guys all day, so interesting and I'm also envious of your setup and knowledge of course. Love Chris' comment on the cam belt "Bald as my head". If it weren't for the time it takes you to produce these videos, as obviously it is extra work after your normal working day I could watch them 24/7, so thank you as always for taking the time to share. I see you've got the cold weather gear on now as it's chilly and wet in the UK, (I live in Portugal, it's still wet and cooler here now but not quite as bad). Naturally, can't wait for follow up video. 👍👍👍

No need to take head off for collets, had one in workshop few months ago where one half of the collet had disappeared, had generic over head valve compressor tool from sealey I think, designed to be used with an adapter to airline to pressurise cylinder through spark plug or glow plug hole to keep valves up whilst taking springs off to replace stem seals, I just turned engine over so the piston was at Tdc on that cylinder and whipped the spring off and refitted with new collets. Also BGA do a camshaft kit complete with full set of rockers and lifters

Thanks for another great video. Oh well I guess lucks got to run out at some point for fixing them cheap and fairly easy, you did well with the others. If I'd of bought them like you do, I'd of had all of the ones like this or worse L.O.L. At the end of the day though you'll get it right and get out ok hopefully. The other thing is a bit of variety like this is good for Chris so he's not just pulling crash damage and sanding filler all the time. I know from my work fixing sometimes it's nice to have a different type of job in that's not repetitive on certain machines customers have a lot of. Take care guys.

Hi Chris / Rob can you not just remove the glow plug on the cylinder with the valve problem, fill cylinder with engine oil, replace the glow plug.. then get rob to Barr the engine over till it Hydrolocks the cylinder..Hold the crank shaft in hydrolock with constant pressure on ratchet, that way you can tap the collets back into position.. Remove Glow plug and suck oil from cylinder using 1 of them Vacume pumps with the long thin hoses ment to suck from the dipstick hole .. Would save taking the head off .. Just a Thought .. Andy Mac

very common for these 1.6 hdi to strip teeth off the belt between 70k - 80k as you know, i sell loads of kits because of this issue, We put new timing kits on our delivery fleet at 70k just to avoid it. Brill video as always guys.

I quite like this one - not a car I'd own myself but with that clean underside (apart from oil leak) and posh interior I think it's worth doing up providing the engine hasn't been an engine for too long, the MOT advisories (and those balljoint bolts!) don't cost too much and you can easily fix the door dent.
