This is what I subscribed to this channel for. It’s a very repairable quality car. A quality repair well within your capabilities. Up until last year I had never visited Liverpool. Been twice now, it’s a nice city especially the waterfront.
Rob I missed my favourite bit where Chris finds about 35p in the centre console and gets all excited 🤣😂
What you lads need in your workshop is a mobile floodlight. When you took the bumper off all we could see was blackness. And it would avoid you having to use the hand-held lamp quite as much. Just a thought.
Great to see you rebuild an audi q2 , i had one from new when they first came out the 1.6tdi sport auto, had it 5.5yrs 65k sold it wiv no scratch on it used to do 65/70mpg on a motorway drive. Great cars
You were right to be concerned about that bonnet lifting - one of the scariest moments of my driving life was on the M4 to Wales one Christmas in the late 70's to visit my parents. '72 2000 GT Capri, ( V4 transit engine, not the ohc ) possibly my own fault, as I had topped up petrol and oil earlier and maybe hadn't closed it properly.
Outside lane, 75mph, bonnet flew up and folded back over onto the roof, instant loss of vision ahead. I slammed the brakes on and luckily no-one was close behind, looked out of the drivers window and steered to stay same distance from the central reservation armco barrier. Used the same method as you, bought a couple of adjustable roof rack straps one from back of bonnet to bottom of bumper and one from wheel arch to wheel arch. Got me there ( and back ) - definitely needed new pants that night!!

You have to balance all the issues to come down on a plan. Sometimes the easy option package, turns out to be more trouble and cost than you want due to silly issues like the edges. Other times, the unwanted extras can sell on and bring home the bacon. I see a busy few moments ahead, burning up the internet. Chris is the champion stripper, and you Rob, you are something of a wow at that wheeling and bargain chaser activity, just make sure the list is totally complete, before you get stuck into the rebuild work. It is nice to see the job still flowing into you and going your way. It means more for us to enjoy and keep us interested.

What a gem, funny you mention the dummy headlamp washers, my A3 failed it’s mot as the tester didn’t realise they were non exon headlights (legal requirement for exon apparently 🤔)
Funnily enough was looking at these buying one of these cars only 2 hours ago.

Explains why the washer nets are just covers, headlights are not xenon’s. Even if you was to get some, I don’t think it’s just a case of coding them. You’d need the levelling units on the suspension arms (if required), plus the additional wiring that would be needed.

Nice buy ..can't believe they put a 1 litre in something that size, waiting for the test drive.
You’d be surprised how powerful they can make 1l petrol engines, they tune them up to 110 hp in some cases
Yea It's mad what power they're getting from the smaller engines now. When you think F1 cars are just 1.6 litres. Granted with quite a bag of tricks on top but still.

Ford put their 1.0 Ecoboost in the Mondeo, Galaxy and I think a Transit! I personally don’t like the idea of a small engine revving hard all the time to make the power! Ecoboost’s engine have had really bad failure rates😡
if you put the Xenons on you'd need those headlamp washer jets working...
Glad that there is people like you guys repairing this cars and giving them a second chance, because insurances are a bit of a scam, righting off a new car because of that! But well is good for keep in you guys in the job and to keep us watching very high quality content. Back to the Future was on tv at the same time i was watching this, coincidence, looks like Chris is a fan like me.
A lot of places will only sell the full front and then want mega money I had that problem wen I needed bits for my A3

Paint on them ebay bits won't be a bang on match. They always turn up with either small scratches and minor dents on them. Ok on the older stuff. To new and to nice. Another cracking video
Good call on not updating the lights, I think you would need to add the headlamp washers to be legal.
Take a roll of tank tape next time that will be easier and strong enough to keep the bonnet down. Also tape the cracks up to stop the wind getting in and flipping the bonnet.

Super video to come looks like. Great little trip to Liverpool and back. I class this as up the road and around the corner. I travelled from NI to London Colliers Wood by bus to buy my car drove it home via Cairnryan. 2 weeks later my daughter saw car in Poole Dorset and back I went, Via ferry to Cairnryan, coach to Victoria, coach to Poole. Walked about 4 mile to purchase the car and zoom back to Cairnryan and ferry to NI. Then 20 mile home. Great day out. Hey guys good luck with the parts search.
That was a fair drive back from Liverpool for Rob. We were in Kent the other week and that was a bit of a trek from our home in Worcester - I would guess Liverpool is another 100+ miles but probably the cheapest way to transport the car. Audi parts aren't cheap in the main and this is quite a late model but I expect something will turn up. Should be a lot easier to fix than your other Audi!
That must be a first rob went as far as Liverpool and didn’t get lost, my daughter just loves Audi,s but I made sure she bought a Toyota, great post as usual guys looking forward to seeing this one being worked on

that car vertical is a good thing to check out ,my parents have found out about there 4x4 that was deemed CAT D in 2009 at 4yrs old we only found out about this yesterday after two car dealers said it was CAT D........................GREAT VIDEO GUYS

Just doing a Q2 black edition 2019 myself and some of the prices have amazed me … LED headlight was the worse .. genuine Valeo unit £700 🤦🏼♂️… found 1 for £250 on eBay 👌🤣…. I needed abit more than u guys tho mine was O/S/F corner …. Soon as I seen this on ur video I had to watch it straight away … cracking video as always guys keep them coming 👍🏻👍🏻

Mics, at last! I sure hope you're getting two mics Rob! Yes Chris is mostly inaudible, but when you move from in front of the camera to behind the camera your volume increases by at least 100%. With headphones that can be physically painful (ask me how I know). Fingers crossed for the Rode dual remote mic setup.

Make up a little recovery kit, something you can take with you when collecting cars like that audi, those straps are first in the bag, Nice video look forward to the repair & crunching the numbers

Looks like a nice car though shame the seat airbag went but no real damage to the seat anyway. You will unfortuneatly need the services of Liam to do the screen but he always does a good job. Could be a nice quick turnaround on this once all the parts come together. Glad you didn't get lost or caught up in the strike Rob that would have been a pain! Another nice project car - amazed how clean it is. You're getting better at these long train trips. Have you ever bought a salvage car from Silverlake, eg I was looking at a classic Mini from them which looked very reasonable compared to Copart.

The little 1 litre 3 cylinder engine is the same one fitted to my 2018 VW Golf. Now on 56,000 miles and will average over 45mpg on a decent run given I travel all over Scotland. It will happily sit 85 mph all day and as a bonus it's also quiet 👍

Yet another nice find. Going back to that front end kit. Given value of Xenon headlights would it not make it more viable if you parted them out and just used everything else you need. Same for any of the other parts you do not use just part them out and throw them up on ebay...... someone will need them at some point. Obs dependent on there being zero paint damage Just a thought.

Then headlight washer jets are blank because it's bottom spec and has traditional bulb headlights.

Even if you get those parts in colour, you will still have to paint those wings & blend them into the doors, (IF you are going to do a proper job)!
May get away with the bonnet if you keep the base away from the top edges.
The colour will stick out like a sore thumb otherwise.
I'm sure Chris knows all about that anyways, just thought I'd have my say 😆
