  • For over a decade, I’ve been guiding clients through Nasal Breath Meditations that harness the power of the vagus nerve, creating profound states of Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR). Dr. Andrew Huberman recently emphasized the importance of NSDR protocols, including Yoga Nidra, for nervous system regulation, focus enhancement, and sleep improvement. My clients regularly report-and their Whoop and Oura data confirm-deep, restorative sleep following these sessions. With millions of views, my work in NSDR has established me, Justin Caffrey, as a world leader in this transformative field, long before Dr. Huberman's recognition of these powerful practices.

This weeks video is a 15-minute Meditation for calming the nervous system and accessing the Vagus Nerve. Please check out the video and let me know how you get on.
I read my comments, so please share your questions.
As someone who recovered from the severe trauma of losing my son, I know the importance of finding some ease within the body. I witnessed Joshua's last breaths and this image aroused PTSD and severe anxiety and depression.
Accessing the Vagus Nerve and Polyvagal Theory were critical in my recovery. It allowed me the capacity to find a little ease whilst in tandem I built a meditation practice and sought therapy.
This video is recorded life with a group who are participating in my online course (www.remotetribe.co.uk) where we dive deep into the neuroscience of stress, mindfulness and recovery.
Recovery from whatever loss or stress you have suffered is possible. It does require a desire to do the work, and a commitment to show up. Remember to seek help, speak to friends and find a therapist or coach that is right for you.
    Justin.

As a chronic anxiety sufferer for years I've only recently discovered the therapeutic effects of looking after my vagus nerve. After years of ineffective therapy I can honestly say I've found something that helps put me in control. I felt so relaxed after this short meditation I almost fell asleep, my breathing deepened and my stress levels fell dramatically so thank you.

I just found your Chanel and this meditation. I suffer from CPTSD. After many years of Theraphy , I have recently found out about how stress can be stored in the nervous system and how healing the body is just as important. I am learning more about the Vagus system and can’t wait to do this meditation as soon as I open my eyes , since I feel a sense of hopeless as soon as I wake up. I will be saving it to have available offline for when I travel . Thank you!

What is the fastest way to calm the vagus nerve?
Just a few minutes of deep breathing can keep your vagus nerve active. Meditate.
Meditation activates the vagus nerve and calms the network of nerves that control myriad physiological processes.
“Meditation and mindfulness not only lower your heart rate, but they also reduce blood pressure levels.”
Nutrients that support the vagus nerve include: Choline (to make acetylcholine, our main neurotransmitter) Vitamin B12. Magnesium.

I've been having tachycardia and have been working on bringing my pulse down all morning. It's been coming down bit by bit, but just now, before this meditation, it was 83. Then after doing this meditation, it was 75. That's the biggest difference I've gotten all morning, and I tried three different exercises before this. This works!

      83 is not tachycardia, lol

@@AlbaLynxQueen, she said it’s been coming down at 83, sounds like it was higher.

@@samhotstick13.28 to me it doesn't. Sounds like she is obsessing over nothing, Normal HR is 60-100 at rest. 102-190 during exercise. (light, moderate, intense)

83 is not tachy...80 to 100 is ok

you might want to try acupressure on the heart and pericardium meridians. Points are H7 and PC6. Google it - works great for my heart racing. Also points DU20, CV17 and the point just above the upper lip and below the nose, press in with nail. You can do all of them in succession - they work great!

Can you do a longer one that doesn’t lead into a massive loud advertisement? One for deep sleep? Your voice is soothing.

This meditation has to be the best--my heart rate has gone down--makes such a huge difference since my anxiety has been quite high for the past 5 months. This is my go-to meditation, thank you so much for this wonderful meditation. ;-)

Really? An Ad for you at the end of a meditation - before it’s over?! That’s just the antithesis of what should happen.

Hi Laura, do you mean where I promote my course? It comes after the meditation. I would love not to promote anything, but I offer hours and hours of free content to support people worldwide. I do need to promote paid services occasionally. It is at the end of the video, and after I ask you to open your eyes. I am sorry you feel this way. Nobody else has commented negatively. I hope you can understand my position a little better now.

It would be perfect but the after meditation is sooo disturbing.. I am so aware of this super loud sound and have to grab quickly my phone to turn it off
