led zeppelin immigrant song Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song (Live 1972) (Official Video) ua-cam.com/video/RlNhD0oS5pk/v-deo.html (the immigrants in the song are Vikings, so it`s not like a modern day type of immigrant song) Think this was the main theme song in Marvels Thor movie, or Ironman, may be both.
Polo: I see you haven't reacted to the live performance of "Kashmir" from the 2007 Celebration Day concert held at London's O2 arena. Bonzo's son, Janson, fills in for the late drummer (R.I.P.). You won't be sorry. Enjoy!!!
Yep. He hits all the notes. Here he has clipped the vocal range, presumably to save his voice while touring. Understandable but doesn't give you the whole range of the song.
Led Zepplin was one of, if not THE, greatest bands of all times. Glad you're down this rabbit hole. I can't wait to see more RTJ reactions from you, too....
as a tool fan..Led Zeppelin is semi new to me and they truly are unbelievable...even for a self titled obsessed Tool fan Zeppelin and Pink Floyd are both neck an neck for me with Tool for different reasons...
Led Zeppelin were the epitome of hard rock in the 70's and still stand out as one of the greatest rock bands in history. Each member was elite at their craft. Something Motley Crue could only dream about.
The true definition of a good rock´n roll singer is if they can pull off singing "Ooohhhh yeeeah!" and make it sound meaningfull. Plant is an expert. :)
One of the few things to say against Led Zed, and I say it as a long time fan, some of their performances were 'loose' to the point of being 'bad'. When they were on fire they were a force of nature; but they were not always at their best. The 70's had that effect.
@Bonzo's Sticks I saw them do this skin meltingly well at Knebworth late 70s it was one of those amazing festival experiences. Didn't mean to gatekeep. I just wanted to share.
@@lynette. I did. It is sadly very true. In this case, it’s very clear Plant is struggling hugely while the album performance is legendary. Page flat and sloppy here while superb and in top form on the album. I saw them in ‘75 also, and were definitely not good that night. Sorry, but my favorite group was not always great.
John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page are both amazing musicians, composers, studio arrangement wizards. They came out of a golden age of British rock that also gave us Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Robin Trower, and many more...
I absolutely admire how much of emotional intelligence and maturity there is in your reactions. You deliver every emotion without ever raising your voice, that's another level of beautiful, especially with this hype race that UA-cam is.
They’re so good that even their songs that aren’t hits are greater than any song most bands have ever made. Literally their catalog is spotless only a couple of blemishes but mostly every song is at least listenable
How many hits did they have? I'd say that - honestly - it's hard to find a song in their catalog that wasn't "a hit". Sadly, they just weren't together for long when Bonzo died, and they broke up, but during that time, they were quite prolific. It's insane how hard it is to go wrong when listening to anything by Zeppelin. Honestly, 80%+ are iconic.
Usually the word "hits" refers to Top 40 Radio hits I suppose, but in Zep's case the word doesn't apply in the same way. If it refers to how many times they hit the mark, yep, I never heard a piece from them that missed the mark.
Best commercial versions of this song in order: 1. 1971 Album version. 2. 1973 Madison square garden The outro solo is the bee's knees 3. 1979 Knebworth festival. During this tour they had made a concerted effort to try and start digging themselves out of the slump they had found themselves. Jimmy's addiction to heroin, John B's famous alcoholism and over the top behavior, Robert plant had lost his very young son to an illness only a few years prior. John Paul Jones didn't have any major issues but he very much disliked having to deal with the excessive lifestyle of the other members. 4. 1975 Earls court. The band was near peak-clout in terms of world-wide recognition. But even though they were all masters of their craft they were still fairly young dudes ranging from 27-31 so naturally they had no instinct to put any kind of metaphorical guardrails, or limiters on how much excess they could enjoy. It was during this time that the band had really started paying the toll for debauchery and although they didn't know it at the time, the cost for it would ultimately be their longevity.
My all time, hands down, favorite band. Dazed and Confused, Since I been loving you, Babe I’m gonna leave you, gahhhh! Just a few of my favorites to hopefully see you react to!!!
oh yeah go studio for sure. Robert's voice was always fresh and preserved allowing for the full Led Zeppelin Experience. I seem to notice that only the early portion of tour dates could Robert belt it out the way he does in the Studio. Their relentless touring coupled with the intense strain of singing Robert's style took a quick toll on his performance. Great coverage again. Try "Out on the tiles" from the 3rd album, that one has such a hard lick with all the Led Zeppelin talent and frills on display. I really do think you would enjoy it.
I saw them live in 1977 and they were great, but to really appreciate them you should listen to the studio albums to take in the quality of the mixing and vocals and instruments. Way ahead of their time!
The mistake that most reactors make is watching Live performances to get acqauinted with the artist or group. It's more about the atmosphere , a lot of improvisation and imperfections . A track like Black Dog is best to first hear the studioversion to get the structure and complexity of the song.
To see them live was quite an experience! As an 18 year old girl in 1974, I saw them in concert, and let's just say that I felt like I had just had the biggest "O" up to that point in my life! The studio version is better musically, but live makes me sweat! Jimmy Page can outplay so many other guitarists, and Robert Plant's stage presence and voice is incredible!
When I was a kid my Mom loved LZ and was a literally hippy at their peak. We had a local radio station that would play LZ 3 hours every day and it was called “Led for the Head”. I grow up listening to a lot of their music and love it.
Polo, I think you need to know that Led Zeppelin was the first hard rock band that took the blues and cranked it to 11 (reference Spinal Tap movie). That was all Jimmy Page. His passion for the blues was insurmountable. He just wanted it faster and louder..
The guitarist here is in the band The Firm. Midnight Moonlight is my favourite. Try the session tracks first. My sister and I bought the album as soon as it came out. In vinyl.
Brother....I am FLABBERGASTED that you had never heard of Led Zeppelin until about 4 months ago. I went all the way back a year in your play list and nada....zip...zero Zep?!?! My recommendation to you is go find Led Zeppelin 1 and listen to the first song the ever did, Good Times Bad times, and go from there....Take a WHOLE WEEKEND if you need to, and listen to their whole catalogue....in order......and be prepared to hear the best band there ever was or ever will be in Rock and Roll.....These four guys freaked me out from thier very first song I heard....almost 55 years ago!!! I was fortunate enough to have heard it all when it first came out....and was even more fortunate enough to have gotten to see them 3 times live in Houston!!!! I got to see Zep 2 in 1969.....Houses of the Holy in 1973 (I was a center stage front 20 rows usher for this one!!!)....and Physical Graffitti in 1975........ It was life changing music to every teenager of the era. Please take my recommendation....and enjoy the trip.....I did 🤩
We, who own Zeppelin as our band, never ever gave up on them, solo or reunions. I've met Robert back stage twice and he is a doll, gentle, humble and gorgeous. Seen original Zep twice and Robbie solo 4 times. Just gets better. This is a band that each brought their own style to the castle that lucky night. Robbie loved country and old blues. Bonzo dug old rhythym on the porch stuff. JPJ was a lover of keyboard but bass was his go to in the beginning. Classical was in his blood. And Jimi, rock and roll. Rather than to change any of their styles, they decided to be who they were, mix it in a jar and see what happened. Right from Robbie's mouth. The night he took his best friend Bonzo over, they plugged in and just knew. Like goodbump knew. They never looked back. Keep searching.
I came of age in that time of great music. Saw a lotta great bands, surrounded by timeless classics, but then there was Led Zep. Look children...the gods!!!
Sooo many brilliant songs..everyone had their nipples out in the seventies…check out Gallows Pole, Communication Breakdown and Rock and Roll, to name just a few of their many great tracks.
how ironic , I'm sitting here in SoCal drinking coffee in my "man cave" and I'm watching the video, and looking up at a picture of jimmy page playing live, and it comes 2000 Calander hanging on the wall, and it's the month of August, and every now and then, I'll turn the page to another picture of a live performance, just to switch things up, with the G.O.A.T.S. ,the Calander is 12x24 opened up ,and in black & white...
Always go with the studio version for a first listen. The live shows will always be there and always a variation, but Jimmy Page was a gifted studio producer. Trust the album cuts!
I respect your honesty. Keep it up. Many hits, but there are also so many non-hits that are just as good. Their catalog is very diverse ranging from rock, blues, soft, acoustic, love songs. Four super talented musicians (as you will discover if you go down the rabbit hole) at the top of their craft. For a taste of a song that drips with blues sauce, check out the studio version of "Since I've Been Loving You" from the 1970 Led Zeppelin III album. Enjoy!!!
I would get my first impressions from the studio versions on all songs . May I recommend, though, listening to their 2007 reunion tour. In particular Kashmir. They were really ready for this
I have to agree with most - the album version was excellent! How many times did Led Zeppelin play on the jukebox in our cafeteria in high school?! Those were the days!
Polo, born and raised NYC . Saw Zep at MSG in 1976. It was the talk, of the biggest city in the world. Who had tickets to this concert and who didn’t . I’m not joking. From Harlem all the way up to Washington Heights, everyone looking for tickets ! 😂 peace! ✌🏼
Recommend their live performance of “Since I’ve been loving you” at Madison Square Garden. I swear one of the greatest live performances ever!! This song o definitely prefer their studio version but damn they made great music.
meh,i prefer their bbc sessions of since i've been loving you, plan'ts voice was still in it's prime before he fucked it up. When he sang it at msg,the voice was already damaged.
This is the song that got through my soul and took me from kid music to rock n roll. When i heard " Hey hey mamma said the way you move gonna make you sweat gonna make you groove " on the radio ....i never looked back. Then Schools Out by Alice Cooper. ..Those 2 songs changed everything. Achilles Last Stand by Zep is a must. Now a great reaction would be reacting to the concert video "The Song Remains The Same" . Its almost 2 hours ...do it on 2 or 4 parts. .
I wish you could come to my house, and spend a day listening to Led Zeppelin. I have almost all of it on vinyl. Play it through a restored 1970’s 125 watt system.
This song will always remind me of the first time I got to drive without adult supervision. My stepdad let me drive his brand new 1979 Mazda RX-7 down the coast highway from Pacifica, to Santa Barbara, while he slept in the passenger seat. 5 speed, manual transmission, and a sunroof! I was in Heaven! He was so tired that he slept through the whole album.
Hey I absolutely love led zeppelin but I'd recommend album versions first always, their live stuff can be very hit or miss based on how many subatances they were all taking before playing. When its good it's very good but when it's not...
I think I remember a story somewhere that talks about Bonham trying to work out the timing on this song... it must have been tough as hell to play live.
Nobody can touch this band ever. This isn't the best rendition of Black Dog but it's still smokin hot. Check out Whole Lotta Love and Good Times Bad Times. These guys couldn't make a bad song if they tried.
Led Zeppelin is my "everything" when it comes to music, from the first time I heard "Stairway To Heaven" (I was 13, I am now 62). I had the honor of seeing them twice here in NYC. They are "complex, beautiful, blues oriented, and down and dirty. I dare you to watch the video "Since I've Been Loving You", btw Jimmy Page (the guitarist) is considered one of the best guitarists in music. Had John "Bonzo" Bonham (the drummer) lived, he would have been considered the same. Motley Crue and bands like them are really not good IMO. The only band from that period (before grunge) is Guns 'N Roses are worth listening to. The GOAT guitarist (R.I.P) is Stevie Ray Vaughan (same era '80s).
LED Zep what more to say everything seems so Epic about them Great reaction Achilles Last stand From the album presence is one of my favorites thanks a lot
I had a crush on Jimmy Paige. Oh hell - I had a crush on the whole band. Best rock ever. When my boys were young & going through my album collection- they got so excited to see I had Zeppelin albums.
There was a real live black dog which was running around the property where they were recording out in the countryside. I think you can see that pooch on the album cover.
Heart did a live version of this too. With LZ's permission. Check out Heart's version of Stairway to Heaven, at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors, when LZ was one of the honorees.

"Motly Crew can't touch this band!" No truer words have ever been spoken.
True of motley crue vs a lot of bands though
TRUTH
I know everybody is saying it, but the studio version is far superior to this. Go and listen to it right now.
He won’t. He’s probably already checked out…
Yes....a thousand times yes lol
I agree
Yep. He hits all the notes. Here he has clipped the vocal range, presumably to save his voice while touring. Understandable but doesn't give you the whole range of the song.
Jimmy is not on his A-game in this performance.

I'd say the greatest
i tell me grand kids- Beatles are the biggest BUT Led Zeppellin are the best@@DianeLake-sw3ym
The tightness, and bombastic clarity of the studio version is FORMIDABLE
which is to say this version is loose, sloppy, and a bit ... idiosyncratic, let's say. Not bad, but just not, as you say, 'tight'
Agreed. It totally changed how we saw rock music. 🤘
Very well said. I’m super disappointed he didn’t listen to the studio version.
No band can touch this band! Led Zeppelin was and is the GOAT! Your journey into their catalog has just begun, it’s endless and a huge rabbit hole.
One of the times that the studio version is more and better.
Led Zeppelin were the epitome of hard rock in the 70's and still stand out as one of the greatest rock bands in history. Each member was elite at their craft. Something Motley Crue could only dream about.
Truth
Not one of the greatest, THE greatest!!!
Not only Motley Crue cannot touch the Mighty Led Zeppelin, not many bands ever can touch them.
They are rock n roll royalty!
Plants' vocals are 🔥. Just the way he carries himself on stage. That open shirt and blonde hair. Unbelievable. I love Robert Plant.
And tight pants. Don't forget the tight pants.
The true definition of a good rock´n roll singer is if they can pull off singing "Ooohhhh yeeeah!" and make it sound meaningfull. Plant is an expert. :)
Yes but the cadence compared to the studio version is awful.
The album version is so much better.

If you ever saw it live back then you wouldn't say that.
@@lynette. No need to gatekeep. He's right, some songs just sound much better on the album, and this is one of them.

Agree! Also the Beatles, the Who, Pink Floyd, Queen, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, the Stones ...
Let's not forget who started it all, The Beatles!
More zepp!
Thank you for the rare inclusion of Robin Trower, the best British blues guitars I've heard in my life. You cannot change my mind. Peace!
You are correct.. Motley Crew were in kindergarten, while LED ZEP finished at the TOP OF THEIR COLLEGE CLASS 🎓🔝👌😁✌️✌️✌️
I absolutely admire how much of emotional intelligence and maturity there is in your reactions. You deliver every emotion without ever raising your voice, that's another level of beautiful, especially with this hype race that UA-cam is.
The Led Zep rabbit hole is endless and epic
I cannot agree more!
I graduated high school in 1975 and I was one of so many that experienced hearing Led Zeppelin stairway to heaven as a lifechanging moment
They’re so good that even their songs that aren’t hits are greater than any song most bands have ever made. Literally their catalog is spotless only a couple of blemishes but mostly every song is at least listenable
Black Dog is definitely a hit.
« Motley Crue can’t touch this band » is the understatement of all time.
i love people discovering led zeppelin in 2023 lol!!!!!!!!!!
JUST THE MOST AWESOME ROCK EVER MADE!
''How many hits do these guys have...''
''Yes.''
None. They never released a single.
@@andrewsiswick784 Yet they are the only band along with Tool that have a catalogue of like 90%+ amazing songs.

Yes

The song was named for a Black Dog that hung around the recording studio.
If you loved this live version, you are really gunna the studio version, a thousand times better!!!
Jimmy Page truly is a guitar God. His blues licks and swagger are unmatchable.
No question Jimmy Page is a guitar God but for blues licks he would have to bow down to Stevie Ray Vaughan.
@@themainman7147 yes definitely Stevie Ray Vaughan is one of the blues legends for sure

Love a good rant on vocals and he definitely delivers 🎉
Whole Lotta Love.. but more importantly, Dazed and Confused!!!!
My first thought - you gotta listen to the album. The whole thing, on repeat. Takes me back to my school days. A LONG time ago. 😊
So enjoying your reviews of LZ. They were the absolute masters
🤣🤣This is real shit. No tuner on his board. No board😂😂😂 SEND IT!!!!! cant stop the song 😂😂😂
Nobody can touch this band ever. This isn't the best rendition of Black Dog but it's still smokin hot. Check out Whole Lotta Love and Good Times Bad Times. These guys couldn't make a bad song if they tried.
This was the song that got me into music. I NEVER cared for music when I was a little kid until a childhood friend introduced me.
Yes to all.
As much as I like Zeppelin, I generally prefer the studio versions.
LED Zep what more to say everything seems so Epic about them
Great reaction
Achilles Last stand
From the album presence is one of my favorites thanks a lot
You have to watch the Kennedy Centre Honors Zeppelin. Many amazing singers singing their songs. You HAVE to see it.
Iconic performance from '73 it doesn't happen like this anymore
Love your reaction ❤❤❤
The name Black Dog came from literally a black dog that wandered into their studio while they were recording.
This era of music was THEEEE BEST‼️
I had a crush on Jimmy Paige. Oh hell - I had a crush on the whole band. Best rock ever. When my boys were young & going through my album collection- they got so excited to see I had Zeppelin albums.
as a guitarist that "that was cold" just is the best compliment you can give, youre tryjng to slay motherfos when tou play for people
There was a real live black dog which was running around the property where they were recording out in the countryside. I think you can see that pooch on the album cover.
I spin the vinyl 45 of this often at gigs here in the U.K. always goes down well
You might check out "Gallow's Pole". I think it really showcases their versatilities.
I remember bumping this tape on my big boom box in the late 70's at high school
Heart did a live version of this too. With LZ's permission. Check out Heart's version of Stairway to Heaven, at the 2012 Kennedy Center Honors, when LZ was one of the honorees.
