Crocodiles and birds in real life actually get along really well. One of Skeledirge's animations has the bird cleaning Skeledirge's teeth which is something real birds do for crocodiles. The bird gets free food and the crocodile gets a free dentist appointment. Edit: To be specific, the bird in question is the Egyptian plover. Edit 2 Electric Boogaloo: Even if the bird and crocodile thing is supposedly a "myth", it can still be used as inspiration. For example, Lurantis' concept is based on a orchid mantis. Orchid mantis' use their appearance to camoflauge as a plant, but with Lurantis, it's a plant that camoflauges as a mantis.
21:29 Yes this is accurate, people in Asia (especially in China and Taiwan) see swallow nests (or the hardened saliva used to build the nests) as a medical ingredient and use it for food, usually sweet soups. They are very rare so the prices are usually very high, when cooked they are very gelatinous and have a gooey texture. What's interesting is that, since swallow nests are so expensive, people often times substitute them with white tree ears, which is what Toedscool is based off of.
I can imagine in the pokemon world since they are electric type, "ahh not enough sleep, welp gonna boil me some wattrel nest for that five hr energy" lol
My theory about why the dex entries for Shellos and Gastrodon seem to contradict each other is, that warmer water forces east Shellos to evolve to protect itself, whereas west Shellos rarely evolves naturally due to it feeling more comfortable in the warmer oceans.
I was thinking that too, west shellos is evolving less and less while east shellos are evolving more and more which causes less west gastrodon and more east gastrodon
Wouldn't it be crazy if, in a future game, we got a new evolution/form for West Shellos, because it no longer needs to evolve into West Gastrodon? And vice versa, a new evolution/form for East Gastrodon, because all of the East Shellos evolved due to the climate?
There was also that bit in the west gastrodon entry about "shallow" water. Maybe east gastrodon prefer deeper water? So while climate change drive rising sea temperature favor west shellos, climate change driven sea level rise favors east gastrodon?
That's what I thought too. The number of shellos born from the two forms would be around the same, it's just that in the past west shellos were forced to evolve more often while in the present it's the east she'll os that are forced to evolve.
18:28 The mention of blue pigments being tremendously expensive in the past, is probably a reference to how, during the Renaissance, the color called “true blue” was five times more expensive than gold, which is because its color was derived from lapis lazuli.
For gastradon I think I have a good explanation: The pink ones are being more numerus and dont need to work as much, leading to less evolution. The blue ones are struggling so they are evolving as soon as possible to survive longer.
It could also be the case that the pink ones often die before being able to become Gastrodons, whereas the blue ones hatch and grow up in areas that are hidden from humans then come out of hiding once they become Gastrodons.
@@matthewwatson5029 this could be the case because the gastrodons are said to appear near shallow waters and it could be because of the global warming as it is possible tue eastern ones live in deep water as the water along the surface is always a lot warmer then the deeper water so it could be that the water levels have risen since we see very little shallow water in the ocean, more then likely the western are going up in water in the warm upper water while when it evolves it is to big to feed from the shallow waters anymore as the shallow water has decreased
Mike, theres a dish made with the swiftlets nest, thats a bird that makes their nest with their saliva which solidify ... So that might be wattrels deal
Fun fact: When it was mentioned that dondozo and tatsugiri hunts bird poke, it explains why there are a lot of feathers in casseroya lake (the location where you can only find dondozo and tatsugiri). The spoils of the hunt scattered all around the lake.
6:50 I love the line after he talks about this cute gremlin. My inner corviknight lover, “THIS CREATURE IS AN ENEMY OF TEAM SKY!!!!! Go forth Mega Charizard Y and Mega Rayquaza, strike it down!!!!!”
I love the idea that some Primeape evolve to Annihilape just to LITERALLY spite Death itself. That's honestly iconic. Also Sawsbuck's fall dex entry completely aligns with a deer's rut season. It happens between the middle of October to early December which again aligns perfectly with their winter form dex entry being much calmer and easier to tame vs the fall form. I'm soooooo loving that Pokemon is continuing to bring in real world aspects to these Pokemon because essentially, they ARE animals. Just with cool powers.
@Haddy that's cause fall comes from German and autumn is from French. The UK has more French influences than German so makes sense you'd take on more FANCY words like Autumn while we take on fall
My theory for the Shellos/Gastrodon entries is that due to the ocean temperatures rising, East Sea Shellos are evolving faster and more frequently to be slightly heartier and survive the different temperatures while the West Sea is having less incentive to evolve- probably due to its habitat zones increasing in size. Also those paradox entries sure are *the* dex entries of all time
In reference to Wattrels entry about eating its nest, birds nest soup is a real delicacy made from swiftlet bird nests. This bird doesn’t make nests from twigs but instead will use it’s own spit that will harden and create a nests. People in Southeast Asia and China will take these nests and create a broth from it, as they sort of dissolve in water.
Yep, it can be pretty expensive sometimes cuz its believed to have some great health effects (I think, I personally don't like bird nest soup so idk if thats actually true)
It took me a while to realize this video is a year old, as I distinctly remembered him reading an ASPITPIAY entry for why Talonflame's dex entry was so specific. Because it lifts Tinkaton's hammer, which weighs 220 lbs. Also, Sawsbuck's Pokédex entry just stated that Sawsbuck Leaf Tea is considered a black tea.
I know this comment is a couple of months old, but anyway. It's also that specific weight because it's like 200g off of exactly 100 kilos, which is the unit the original version as well as any other localisations would use.
Weirdly, Kingambit being a reckless attacker in combat rather than a tactical genius actually fits with its namesake. The King’s Gambit in chess is known for being a wild double edged sword of an opening; very aggressive and confrontational, but also leaving weaknesses on your side.
Kingambit's personality is just a horribly disappointing downgrade from the cruel but cunning Bisharp though. Now it's just a tactically incompetent brute.
Fun fact, the aggressive autumn form of sawsbuck references real world behavior of deer. Fall is mating season for them (also known as the rut), and it’s when males will fight one another for the right to breed, thus explaining the game devs reasons for making the autumn form more aggressive and prone to fighting
@@masterjoseph25 that's the reason it's NOT predator and prey. The deerling is more likely to be a threat to Lycanrock, so that's why they're natural enemies instead.
Looking at Maschiff's Pokedex entry, I wonder if Sada/Turo got Arven a Maschiff specifically because they knew they'd be away from him for long periods of time, so the Maschiff would be able to make Arven laugh, even if he was sad.
Actually yes. The nests of swiftlets(which are real birds despite the name lol) are treated as a delicacy and some even say they have healing properties
I think the reason for Shellos' and gastrodon's confusing Pokédex entries is because the west one is less in danger so it is stopping evolving all together while the type that is in more danger is evolving more to save the species
I was thinking that the west one has a lot more competition so fewer are able to evolve as resources become spread thin while the east ones have more than enough to thrive. At least for now.
Honestly it could be both. Because it's no longer in danger of going extinct it no longer fights to stay alive and thus doesn't need to evolve fast HOWEVER because so many are in an area they fight amongst themselves where the weakest perish to allow the strongest to survive. Basically they're stuck between needing to stay strong enough to fight each other but not need to get much stronger to require an evolution.
I indeed don't think it's a mistake. I think that, at the very least, the differences cause 1 species to evolve more (resulting in more Gastrodon), and the other to evolve less (resulting in more Shellos). Maybe gastrodon has a bigger tolerance for temperature shifts than Shellos, which would normally cause Shellos to evolve if their waters get too warm/cold (maybe it's a seasonal thing, where they would normally evolve in summer/winter, when the water temperature changes too much and make it unbearable for Shellos).
Wattrel's violet dex entry is a reference to bird's nest soup. It's a type of bird nest that's made of the bird's saliva that hardens up into tough threads that sticks together like super glue. People collects their nest and makes them into soup. People say that the bird's nest has some health benefits for your body. They're also very expensive.
I’ve had the opportunity to have birds nest soup. It was in a restaurant’s basement dining room in the middle of Philadelphia’s China town. One of about 20 courses, part of a dinner for my friend’s father’s funeral. Flavor was unexplainable, milky, umami, and yet somehow a little fishy; also a gelatinous porridge texture.
So skeledirge and the bird actually have a real connection to the world. The Egyptian plover is a bird that works in symbiosis with crocodiles to clean their teeth. The birds gets “invited” by the croc to clean its teeth.
Oh I thought it was because there are birds that hang out with crocs or alligator and the birds usually clean their teeth when the have their mouth open. They don't get eaten they work together as partners.
As a Sawsbuck enthusiast, I should mention that the Autumn form's aggression is based on the rutting season of white-tailed deer, native to New York/Unova.
So a fun bit with the paradox mons and the Dex (Spoilers), when you finish The Way Home storyline, Clavell says he's letting you off for breaking the rules, but you can't mention going into Area Zero. With that in mind, the fact they are all tabloid types of entries make perfect sense, because in-verse, that's basically all the information that exists on them beforehand, and giving accurate info means sharing you went to Area Zero.
@@CrystalGreymon The existence of the Desert Titan and the fact it happens to be the Donphan paradox means that it's possible for others to have leaked out as well, so. . . not exactly You are already lucky enough to be riding on the Paradox Cyclizar, so finding another isn't too much of a stretch
When the dex talked about deerling being a pest, I wasn’t surprised, considering I’ve watched many family members try to keep deer away after their plants and crops are chewed to bits. I actually like that they added that detail when compared to actual deer
I mean it’s still based on a true fact. In places where wolves were hunted to near-extinction since they were seen as a threat to farms, deer began overpopulating and becoming an _actual_ threat to farmland.
Also, the thing about using lycanroc to get rid of them is similar to how in Yellowstone National Park, after people had gotten rid of the wolves, they had to add them back because the deer population got too high
I imagine that the Gastrodon conundrum can be answered rather simply: East Shellos are now in a better situation to evolve, while west Shellos are now in a situation where it’s better not to evolve.
"for a kids game" schtick is getting pretty old don't you think? even Gamefreak seems over that by introducing more mature material in S/V with the professors being killed.
Wattrel’s nest being a delicacy is probably a reference to bird’s nest soup which are made from swift nests( They make their nest from their saliva) Scarabs represent rebirth so the “infant” being referred to may be its reborn form
Also, I personally love the idea of Houndstone having previously been a Houndoom, as Houndoom is a doberman type pokemon and I have a doberman and will be very sad when he passes away. So I like to think he could come back. Also the whole resident evil zombie dogs being dobermans too
For skeledirge, I think it’s meant to represent how in real life, the Egyptian plover bird and crocodiles have this sort of mutual bond where the crocodile lets the bird eat out of its mouth. Therefore the crocodile gets cleaned and the bird get free food
The fact that this video is an hour long, whereas they are typically around 30-40 minutes should say how amazing this dex is Also, I think Kaytee definitely loves Phanpy even more with this pure strength
When it comes to the Gastrodon's, look at it like this: Since the Pink Ones are becoming more numerous due to rising water temperatures, it becomes far more comfortable. This causes it not to struggle to survive, thus not requiring it to Evolve to survive. Flip this on its head for the blue. Due to the rising water temps, and its decreasing numbers, what remains must evolve to survive.
I was literally on my way to comment this. And yeah, it makes perfect sense. With a harsher environment comes harsher survival conditions, and vice versa.
My theory was that since the dex said That West Gastrodon hunt in shallow waters, They become more rare due to rising tide, with perhaps the opposite happening for the East Gastrodon
I think the main reason Capsakids teeth are what is added to things to make it spicy is they kinda resemble the seeds inside the hot pepper. The seeds tend to be spicier. I imagine it's also easier to ground and pulverize as a seasoning.
Something I haven’t seen anyone talk about with the tinkaton and corviknight is that you can really only find 1 Corviknight outside of Area Zero, and Tinkaton’s line in several areas in paldea. In Area Zero though, you can find Corviknight everywhere, but no Tinkaton at least to my knowledge you can’t find one. Almost like they’re in hiding within the Great Crater. I think it’s a very nice touch personally
I think the skeledirge line is based on the Nile Crocodile and an Egyptian plover bird. The Croc will open its mouth and the bird will pick at any leftover meat stuck between the teeth.
19:41 adding on to this, the reason it’s face looks peaceful in death is because all the rage left it’s body and manifested into annihilape. such a cool concept
Deerling being a pest is a reference to real world Deer problems. Our forests - especially the Eastern woodlands of the US such as around NYC - have healthy canopies but devastated understories because the deer eat all the seedlings of native trees. Deerling is native to Unova, based on NYC. We need to hunt Bambi, unfortunately.

I have a theory about the Shellos and Gastrodon. Because there aren't a lot of Shellos in the East they have more need to get stronger to defend themselves from predators. Therefor much more of them are evolving into Gastrodon. Which decreases the number of Shellos even more as more of them are Gastrodon. Whereas the West have more Shellos in the group to protect each other. The West also have more competition amongst each other and most likely only a few decide to evolve. Maybe as a ranking system if it has any deep meaning to it.
46:58 For the Shellios theory, I believe that the Shellos are increasing and decreasing based on the temperature of the water, and in order to survive the east Shellos are evolving at a higher rate than the west Shellos in order to compensate
1:00:54 Hahah glad you took note of these, too. I nicknamed my Treasures as Mollusgrudge, Erminhate, Elkenfear, and Goldenvy thanks to these Dex entries.
Some deep chess references with Kingambit. The Kings Gambit, an opening chess move, is a high-risk strategy that if it pays off results in an aggressive win by the using player sacrificing pawns. It is a move not used as often as more long-term strategy styles are used today. Hence why Kingambit isn't known for his strategy and more for his aggressive fighting.
Retaliate fits into this too. It's usually a more more associated with other pokemon, I think, but it fits well with the reference to the strategy, at least in my opinion.
i wanne knowe if its a different pokemon it got a soul so its a different pokemon like slowbro and kangaskhan dont lump 2 diferent pokemon together name them

Skeledirge's bird is based on the symbiotic relationship between Nile Crocodiles and Plover birds! The plover birds will pick and eat bits of meat and plaque off of the crocodiles teeth, getting a meal and also cleaning the croc's teeth in the process. I think Skeledirge actually has an animation of the little bird doing this exact thing!
Yes it does have that animation, whenever it happens in the wild, it is a test of trust between the two, as the bird puts it’s life into the crocodile’s hands (or jaw). The crocodile does not bite, and instead patiently waits for the bird to finish what it is doing, a truly beautiful interaction in the wild
I bet Scarlet and Violet take place in separate timelines, one where global temperatures are rising, and the other where global temperatures are cooling. THAT'S why Shellos and Gastrodon have conflicting dex entries.
Actually, Michael, the Deerling-Lycanroc thing is reflective of Japanese culture. Farmers in Japan worshiped wolves because they hunted the herbivores (such as deer and wild boar) who would eat their crops, and they would even leave food at their dens as an offering for their protection. Also, I think Deerling and Lycanroc are listed as "rivals" because Deerling has a type advantage over Lycanroc.
And another thing of note here is that autumn sawsbuck is aggressive because for deer the autumn is their mating season (called the rut) and male deer fight each other for mates
Cetoddle's entry implies a very funny evolution of the species where it started in the water like all life, left to become mammals, decided to go back to become whales, and then decided to leave again
Cetoddle is like a dog/cat: "Open door I want to go outside" *opens door* *hey go outside then come back in instantly* *closes door* "Open door I want to go outside" FUUUU
Well considering Jigglypuff uses mysterious wavelengths of sound. What if unknown to us/people in the Pokemon Universe it like Clefairy originally came from outer space? The Real life Universe itself is said to be 14 billion years old, so perhaps an advanced Alien Race sent Screamtails to aid in exploring other regions of the Universe along with some other Ancient Pokemon, they landed on the Pokemon Universe Earth long ago leaving a small colony of them behind which evolved into Modern Jigglypuff? 56:00
Quick note on the Kingambit entry, Kingambit is actually a reference to a chess move known as The King's Gambit, a highly aggressive opening that focuses on doing as much damage as possible early game.
@@madethistocomment727 It's a delicacy made from the solidified saliva of swiftlets, but are one of the most expensive animal products due to their rarity, with 1kg being worth $6600/1 pound being worth $3000. It is very good for the skin, high in protein and has a rich flavour.
Crocalor's sombrero is made of marigold shaped flames that acts as a nest for the egg. It started as a petal on fuecoco and became a marigold head dress people wear in day of the dead. It is said that marigold guides the soul in the afterlife and its orange color is like a burning fire that lights up the paths of the souls. So When fuecoco evolves into crocalor, the flame hair attracts the soul of a phoenix that is most commonly associated with death and rebirth because that's the cycle of a life of a phoenix. The chick on skeledirge is based on egyptian plover and their relationship with nile crocodiles. It's a symbiotic relationship between the two, the crocodile gets its teeth clean and the bird gets to eat and the crocodile wouldn't eat the birds. Also the bird becomes a mic and shoots out as a phoenix when skeledirge uses torch song.
Plus the fact that crocodiles and other related species have been seen coexisting with birds with them cleaning their teeth in exchange for the food they get for doing so. And a singer with clean teeth is good for the stage
21:38 yes they do in some parts of the world it is considered a delicacy. However it isnt the twigs kind. There is a swallow who uses its saliva or puke to produce its nest. People eat that. So yeah im geussing thats what the nest is made of
I have a theory about Gastrodons: As the West Shellos' life conditions are getting better, their need of evolution to survive is decreasing at the same time. In the other hand, the situation is opposite for the East ones which makes them more likely to evolve for surviving and being able to live in those conditions.
Kingambit's strategy of just throwing its army at its opponents makes sense when you look at its ability, which makes it stronger when more fainted pokemon are around

46:58 I don’t know if anyone has offered this as a reason yet, so I will try to be brief. I believe that the sum of West Shellos & Gastrodons are the same as the sum of East Shellos & Gastrodons. However, far more East Shellos evolving into Gastrodon would explain the numbers diffence. More East Shellos evolving equals less East Shellos & more East Gastrodon. & Less West Shellos evolving equals more West Shellos & less West Gastrodon. Maybe there is something about the water temperatures effecting how they both evolve.
@7:57 I loved Clodsire's Violet dex entry: It lives at the bottom of ponds and swamps. It will carry Wooper on its back and ferry them across water from one shore to the other. Imagining the evolution just carrying the smaller Woopers across water is super cute to me. Edit: typo
Fun fact, blue pigments we’re rarer in historic times due to lapis lazuli being incredibly hard to find. So the fact that florges violet entry calls attention to that in the Pokémon world is pretty cool.
At what point in the past is this? Because I remember hearing that blue used to be a girl's color because blue fabric was extremely cheap and misogyny stuff. I could've fully made that up I don't remember where or when I heard that tbh
You’re referring to gendered baby clothes, which started in the 19th century around the same time artificial pigments were being created. Blue being considered a rare paint pigment has been a thing since the pyramids were built and probably even earlier.
Something I appreciate about the fact that Tinkaton hunts Corviknight is that a normal Tinkaton's hammer matches Corviknight, and Tinkaton's shiny is just the hammer changing to be the color of shiny Corviknight. Pretty much confirms that Tinkaton doesn't just hunt Corviknight for sport, but also for its armor.

Donphan is based on a tire, so the dex entry about it being vulnerable to rain and not doing well with that isn’t just it’s weakness because it’s a ground type, but also a reference to how tires can lose traction and not perform well in rain.
1:21 The lore behind the bird of skeledurge is that crocodiles are found with birds on them while also letting birds create nests on them at moments, crocodiles are very docile creatures to birds while also letting them clean they’re teeth
Blue Florges "rare paint" is a reference to natural blue pigments in real life. In the past, blue was one of the hardest kinds of paint to make from natural sources. It mostly came from lapiz lazuli, but eventually people discovered how to make it from some species of plants as well.
I love the idea of Cetitan's ancestors being like "hey let's go on land" and then later "hey let's go back in the water I liked it" and then like "heyyyyyy so I changed my mind again can we go back on land"
With the Capsakid entry, I think it specifically said teeth, because the seeds of the bell peppers are what are actually spicy. And it would just make sense that the teeth represent the seeds, as opposed to something outside its body.
Something else I really like about the Tinkatink line is that you can see the hammers used by each previous evolution in the next one's version of the hammer. It's such a nice detail!
Can we just appreciate all the amazing editing and graphics for this HOUR LONG VIDEO? The editor put the same amount of love into this as a shorter video! Good job!
for for Wattrell, in my country some people do eat the nest, it is called "Sarang Burung Walet/Walit" literally means Walet Bird Nest. Oftenly used as medicine and this is wiki entry: Edible bird's nests are bird nests created by edible-nest swiftlets, Indian swiftlets, and other swiftlets using solidified saliva, which are harvested for human consumption. They are particularly prized in Chinese culture due to their rarity, high protein content and rich flavor
26:30 New head-canon to make this even begin to sort of make sense: The base stat is logarithmic to general "psychic ability". No, I will not be thinking deeper about this or its probably terrifying consequences.
Also I think Rabsca and Rellor are basically reincarnating constantly. Rabsca's bug part is it's elderly shell, with the Ball being it's new self incubating. The two of them are a mix of Dung Beetles using dung balls to feed their kids, and other scarab species' connection to the afterlife in some cultures. At least that's what I am guessing.
21:33 Although Wattrel is based on the bird species petrel, I am highly convinced that it is also partly based on the swiftlet, judging by the shape of its tail. And judging by this dex entry also, it is highly probable that it is also based on the edible-nest swiftlet. Their nests are mostly made by their saliva and other materials, but yes the nests are actually edible. They are well known to being used in medicinal tea, but people also just eat them as regular dishes. I tasted them once and they're pretty good.
The fact about the Autumn and Winter Sawbuck make sense when you think about real world deers. Their mating season is around autumn so it would explain why they are more agitated and calmer in the winter, after mating season
And the flowers sapping their nutrients referencing how deers can get calcium deficiency or straight-out Osteosporosis when their antlers start to grow :D
Regarding Cryogonal not being ghost type yet having a spooky dex entry, maybe the current species evolved from a previous species that had the ghost type. Overtime, that spirit either managed to die out and freeze over, or the current Cryogonal is just the manifestation of pure negativity, overwhelming the ghost type. Edit: “pure negativity” still sounds ghostly, maybe even dark, but forming pure ice would suggest the spirit just stopped existing.
I love the name kingambit. And how its dex entry relates to its name, the King's Gambit in chess, which is a very risky and aggressive opening in chess. I love it
i think the Donphan entry makes sense, Phanpy is young and its skin isnt as hard and tough as Donphan, so they dont mind the water but for Donphan it probably makes its skin soft and squishy, leaving it vulnerable to cuts and bruising while it fights off predators and such
I’ve come to realize something. Mega Salamence is said to end the life of its own trainer. And Roaring moon seems to be a prehistoric mega Salamence. So that means the reason the mega Salamence will attack its trainer is because it’s reverting to a near prehistoric form.
So roaring moon evolved into salamence over time, then when salamence is exposed to mass amounts of mega energy it transforms into a form similar to roaring moon. Could this mean that other megas are "past forms" or their original pokemon?
@@Airlo-rk8wj If i remember correctly, Mega Aerodactyl is said to be Aerodactyl's true form before it went extinct and became a fossil! So to some degree, the answer is yes!
4:20 Real birds do grab and carry heavy prey. Eagles drop turtles and tortoises onto rocks to break the shells. I think a turtle pokemon would fit better as prey to this creature. Especially since the bird is only 50lbs itself, eating 4x it's weight sounds excessive... But a turtle has a lot of shell and bone and not so much meat, Maybe a Blastoise dropped onto boulders to make a bloody mess for babies to rip apart.
The Shellos and Gastrodon entries make sense if you just assume it is describing the shift in population as one form enters a population boom or mating season while the other form is reaching the point where their population has mostly started to evolve, this just implies that in the wild these pokemon tend to take a few years to a few decades to evolve without a human trainer to promote them to grow strong faster.

21:33 one of the inspirations for Wattrel is swiftlet bird, that is found in Philippines(and in other part of southeast Asia), once part of Spanish colonial empire. Swiftlet make their nests using solidified saliva and and very difficult to obtain since they build their nests on steep coastal cliffs which lead to high prices. These saliva nests are used to create bird nest soup which is part of Chinese cuisine and is considered to have many healthy properties and is a delicacy. It's cool to see them adding pokemon based on animals from the region that were once under the rule of region on which current generation is based.
Wattrel's dex entry is actually inspired by the Swiftlet bird. These birds make there nests by using their saliva as glue since they usually build their nests on the side of cave walls. People eat them by most commonly turning the nest into a sweet soup called bird's nest soup, others cook it with rice to make it into birds nest congee or bird's nest boiled rice. They do this by separating the saliva from the twigs and cleaning off the reamaining feathers.

@@nicholasazarya3437 yes, it’s written in the dex entry
How do you know that
@@jordanwoodward7351 I live there(Taiwan) Einstien, I ate it before too.
Same idea here..!
Ultramarine, not only is is made from a rare stone, it is also very labor intensive to isolate the pigmant from the pulverised stone
It’s also one of the reasons why Mary (Jesus’ mother in Christian belief) is painted in blue robes.
For gastradon I think I have a good explanation:
The pink ones are being more numerus and dont need to work as much, leading to less evolution.
The blue ones are struggling so they are evolving as soon as possible to survive longer.
That’s exactly what I was thinking!
Maybe the pink Gastrodon species are getting more eggs, but dying quickly after that, and the blue ones just evolving faster

Yeah i search for this comment hehe
I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING
29:56 All I could think about is aqua breed Tauros using its front hooves to grab its horns and click them back like it’s cocking a gun.
Wattrel's violet dex entry is a reference to bird's nest soup. It's a type of bird nest that's made of the bird's saliva that hardens up into tough threads that sticks together like super glue.

I think shiny Tinkaton's hammer is supposed to look like rusty metal?
Shiny Corviknight is a bit more on the white side I believe
@@lilim364 shiny tinkaton hammer matches a wood hammer not really rust
0:55 crocs open there mouths really wide and let birds hop inside and clean there teeth. They don’t normally chomp down on the birds, it actually gives it its leftovers after eating something like a fish.
Fun fact: One of Gumshoos’ Pokédex entries states that it was imported to alola from another region
When Scarlet and Violet was announced, I was hoping that Paldea would be this mysterious region that I didn’t know about
It still might be. Paldea's Gumshoos and Yungoos entries do not mention it as being from another region.
Honestly, the fact that annihalape gets SO angry that it dies, and then decides “NO! IM NOT DYING!” and comes back to life due to sheer stubbornness just makes me chuckle
Also the Yellow Squawkabilly entry connects with the Fletchling entry. It can be assumed the Yellow Plumage Squawkabilly drove the Fletchling out of town.
The second one is what I thought!
Call an ambulance but not for me
@Laboa i wonder
UNDERTALE and Doom.
Donphan is based on a tire, so the dex entry about it being vulnerable to rain and not doing well with that isn’t just it’s weakness because it’s a ground type, but also a reference to how tires can lose traction and not perform well in rain.
Congratulations you have lost your father

1:20 The Egyptian plover eats bugs off of crocodiles back.
1:21 The lore behind the bird of skeledurge is that crocodiles are found with birds on them while also letting birds create nests on them at moments, crocodiles are very docile creatures to birds while also letting them clean they’re teeth
Symbiotic relationships are very interesting.
@@adventurekitty101 yes they are
Not only do they let birds make nests close to their own, they'll also just protect any eggs near them from predators, be it their own or others.
Just like some real world crocs

Blue Florges "rare paint" is a reference to natural blue pigments in real life. In the past, blue was one of the hardest kinds of paint to make from natural sources. It mostly came from lapiz lazuli, but eventually people discovered how to make it from some species of plants as well.
I love the idea of Cetitan's ancestors being like "hey let's go on land" and then later "hey let's go back in the water I liked it" and then like "heyyyyyy so I changed my mind again can we go back on land"
Arceus: CAN YOU MAKE UP YOUR MIND ALREADY? I’M BUSY ENOUGH WITH OVERSEEING THE NIGHTMARE THAT IS THE PIKACLONE FAMILY
I think it's that way too. Sounds logical.
I think its related to Ra's daily rebirth, with Kehpri the dung beetle being the one that rolls the sun dung ball across the sky
@@rayturnatus2007 I knew it was Egyptian, I just wasn't sure on the specific myth. But I knew it was.
U do epic work, Keep it up
Regarding Cryogonal not being ghost type yet having a spooky dex entry, maybe the current species evolved from a previous species that had the ghost type.
I love it

i think the Donphan entry makes sense, Phanpy is young and its skin isnt as hard and tough as Donphan, so they dont mind the water but for Donphan it probably makes its skin soft and squishy, leaving it vulnerable to cuts and bruising while it fights off predators and such
Do you remember the phanphy in the third pokemon movie how it demolished onix? Good times
@@kidomaruking35 That was an illusionary Phanpy that was much stronger than a real one.

Yeah, rain makes it harder for tyres to keep traction. A Donphan in the rain would lose control too often and keep crashing into stuff.
@@Airlo-rk8wj that’s something I’ve been thinking.

9:43 So on my playthrough of Gen 9 I used both Quaquaval and Tsareena on my team. My headcanon now is that when given the opportunity the two will make as much of a scene as possible with their dancing.

I was waiting for someone to comment this! Thanks :)

@@Hi_Im_Zo idk its pretty common in china i think
@@Hi_Im_Zo where are you from ? 🤔
The nido bird and its soup.
@@terra.luina.07-naomiegamin44 The nido bird is actually just another species of the cave swiftlets. Their technically almost the same thing. And, like I said, there are actually multiple ways of eating birds nest. The soup is just the most common way.

1:03 the plover bird lands in open crocodile mouths and eats the meat and parasites and stuff in between their teeth so it could have something to do with that. Birds also use gators and crocs as body guards for their nests from opossums and raccoons and they drop eggs into the water for them
