You watched on GameTrailers? Man that brings me back. I can’t believe it’s been almost 18 years.
Screwattack?
Old af right?
@@justintoxicated5237 Wish I could remember, but it might have been. Either way this is super nostalgic
1:46 Nerd: "Konami...!"
My 2024 brain: "F*ck Konami!"
19:42 That cheesy face expression with the way he was walking backwards got me 😂
Reminds me of Michael Jackson moonwalker
I love that you still make AVGN! I was here since the beginning and now your character itself is nostalgic.
AVGN is glorious. Especially this episode - I feel powerful nostalgia watching him play Goonies 2
The soundtrack for The Goonies 2 has a special place in my heart
It was honestly
The best part of the game.. the graphics were decent too but the actual gameplay was messy
@@brianmeen2158 I definitely will not disagree! I never could get very far as a kid and eventually gave up😅
14:21 "and the stick shift was on the ceiling" You mean like in a cyber truck?
I was thinking that too, isn't the touch panel for the shift between Park reverse neutral and drive, on the roof of the cybertruck?
I don't know if he knew that. It could be a reference, it could be a sheer coincidence.
The "punch the meditating man five times" thing made me chuckle because there are various Zen Buddhist koan stories about disciples getting punched or outright beaten throughout their training haha.
Our local Pizza Hut had a Goonies II arcade. We LOVED it!!! It’s one of the very few NES titles I have actually beaten.
Did you finish battletoads ?
19:10 this is gold 😂😂😂 that "moonwalk" 😂😂😂
I love that as the budget goes up James' staging and sets stay the same or get cheaper looking to match that cable access feel. Its so perfect
Konami: "No, the well known Silent Hill 2 hole quote IS a Goonies 2 reference."
Me: "No. No! That's not true. That's impossible!"
Konami: "Search your feelings, you know it to be true!"
Me: "No! Noooo!"
I totally loved this game when I was a kid and loved the music. The dungeon rooms have music like in Zelda.
Yo-Yo's were the craze in the 90's. I remember everyone I knew (myself included) owned like 5 different yo-yo's lol. We'd take turns showing off the moves we learned. I think I still have mine somewhere in a box.
we all had those automatic yo-yos with the ball bearings in them
I remember the yo-yo craze of the 90’s, it was great! Duncan was the King and will always be the King. I was a pro back in the day! Around the world, walk the dog, the butterfly, etc.
@@whaduzitmatr or the ones with motion activated blue and red blinking lights that flashed when you yo-yo, those were pretty dope until the batteries died or you smashed them into the floor and they broke. 😭😭😥
bruh, yo'yo's have been popular af for the past 100 years. The only reason people think there was a craze in the 90's is because they weren't alive when there was a craze in the 80's, or the 70's, or the 60's, or the 50's when Duncan Toys blew tf up because of all the different yo'yo's they made. The "craze" has existed since the 50's.
BRO. Goonies 1 game is so nostalgic to me bc it was in one of those "120 gameboy games in one"- bootleg gameboy advance cartridge. I played the bootleg collection so much bf I even knew it was a bootleg
Thank you James for staying with us after all of these years!
Point and click games are so rough from back in the day 😢
“Up down a ladder 🪜 “ 😅
WHAT DO YOU DO?
24:16 Nothing exciting at the end? It's cute and funny. 😭
Uooooghhh 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
@@AdaraHepburn938 Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well.
This game needs correction

20 years soon is going to be crazy! I wasn't able to be part of the journey for that long but I'm impressed that this is still one of the oldest yet most popular web series in the current generation! GGs when it comes!
25:14 I will never see that scene the same again lol
What made this game easier to beat when I was young, was to make it past the bridge with your boomerang (those weird flying things would eat it if they hit you). The boomerang was the best weapon.
What made it real easy to beat was the Game Genie.
Thank you Mike Matei for playing though all of these on stream
17:40 In Monty Python and the Holy Grail game on the NES, you need to count to 5 before throwing the Holly Hand Grenade to defeat the Bunny Rabbit boss near the cave.
I remember being a kid and thinking that Goonies II was the sequel to the movie, not realizing that there was another Goonies game. Also, I believe the mermaid was a cut subplot from the film.
I love the joke of: "Remember, this is Goonies 2."
I love the callback to “if there was a pork chop in this wall, I would totally eat it!”.
I like that continueti joke that Santa was still lying on the floor since last episode. He got beaten so bad that he couldn't get up :D
I cannot stress how right he is about the rooms. They were maddening as a kid and made no f'ing sense!
