Thank you for your page!!! I am 23 and Laotian. I live on my own and has since I was 17 and I love referring to your videos when I cook traditional foods thank for UA-cam
Nana, I am a hmong wife and daughter/sister-in-law of a lao family. Not only do i dont know how to cook lao food but im also not much of a good cook. I gave this recipe a try and it was a hit! Everybody loved it. First time everybody gave positive feedback to my cooking. I will continue to watch your videos and try them out for my husband and in-laws. Thank you so much for your videos! :D you're a life saver...well, something like that :D Please do post more lao food videos. Others might want to try it to try something different but for people like me in my situation will rely a lot on videos like this! Again thank you Nana!
Thank you, Nana for this recipe...well actually all your recipes, lol. I made this tonight and it was sooooo good!! I've actually made quite a few of your recipes since I found your channel six months ago. It takes a lot of courage to go public and have people criticize you so I thank you for continuing to help the rest of us who love you!!
I just made this dish using one pack of noodles; I'm so glad I went ahead and only used 1/2 cup of sugar as opposed to the full cup. Can't imagine how sweet it would've been! I should've halved the rest of the ingredients too...ended up just throwing away the rest of the sauce. It turned out really delicious though!! Thank you so much for the recipe!
aww, you could have saved the sauce for later. This was enough for 2 pounds of noodles. I just looked at the instructions in the description and it said 1 pkg of noodles. It was supposed to be 2 pkgs. Thanks for letting me know your result.
Thank you very much for making your videos!! For sharing!! You are such a good hearted person! Thank you also for the warm welcome to your home. I feel blessed to be welcome and to get to learn to cook some of these recipes. It touches my heart. Without your videos I would never once even in my life get to experience Lao culture. I grew up in the US so unless I have the money and means to take a trip to Laos I won't get to experience any Lao. Thank you again!!
You don't know how much I appreciate your videos. I've always wanted to learn to cook Lao Food for my own family since I never got to learn from my own mom was I was younger. =) Thank you!!! Please post more!
Subscribed! I've been wondering how to make this since I was a little girl but never knew what it was called and no one ever knew what I was taking about. You just made me one happy pregnant wife!! Having the hubby go shopping tomorrow for ingredients!
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I am Laos and moved away from home. I wanted some of this and couldnt remember how to make it. You are a life saver!! Khop chai lai lai Euy Nana! =)
I love all your cooking tutorial. I am your number one fan. I tried one of your recipe and it turned out really good. I can not wait to use your other video to guide me on my next cooking adventure. Thank you for keeping the Lao cooking tradition alive.☆♥★♡ ;)
I made this dish after seeing it on your channel! My family thought it was a little too sweet for them, but I thought it was delicious! Great job and keep those videos coming!
Bouathong Thepsombath It should not be too sweet, but some people like it sweeter. You can use more noodles or less sugar depending on how you like it. Thanks for watching.
I've been thinking about this dish because I always have an extra bag of pho noodles after making pho, I was going to ask my mom for her recipe. I'm definitely making this today!!! Thanks!!
I tried this recipe today and it tasted amazing but my noodles ended up being too hard. Does that mean I need to cook it longer? I did add some water thinking it would help but it didn't.
Yummy.... I've watched this video like 10 times... I'm going to try to make it. I love all of your videos... please continue posting more. Can you do a pad Thai video also. I've seen so many and tried cooking them but they just don't taste right. All of the things that I've cooked from your recipes have always turned out fantastic. ... thanks
Nha gin, jung loey! I love your recipes, Nhong Nana. Though i was in Isan, Thailand (Udonthani), I learned to absolutely LOVE Lao food. Thank you for this recipe. It looks soooooo good! Kop jai lai. Juh gun mai. Michael
Thank you so much for sharing your recipe! I love your videos because you cook from your heart ❤️... Side note: but I'm very concerned with the plastic spoon you're using that it may melt and it's health hazardous...
Al Eng thank you for your kind words and concerns. These are actually melamine spoons, not regular plastic spoons. They are rated for over 280 degrees F. This video was shot over 5 years ago and I think I still have this spoon. I like to use this kind of spoon because it doesn’t scratch my nonstick pots and pans. The scratches on this pan were from other people using metal spoons on it.
I know you said use half the sauce for 1 pkg but if I use 2 pkg of noodles will I need to also double up on sugar/oil/shallots/garlic? Or just cook as normal and put 2 packages in and the entire sauce mixture?
it looks really yummy. but me i would add little more noodles so it wont be too soggy like too wet or too much of liquid. thats just my thought but i like looking at your recipes.
Mos Vaj you are right it should not be soggy. When I made the video five years ago I didn’t give enough time to let everything cool down. When the sauce and noodles cool down it won’t look soggy.
Sophany Thong You can use the kikkoman soy sauce, but it will make it taste very different. Thin soy sauce is not very hard to find at the Asian market.
I’m going to try this recipe! Of course you need msg 😊 if no msg then no Lao food lol. Like Any other Asian food, msg makes it better. Thanks for sharing.
bngo4, I was heading out the house when the video was being uploaded. I hope to have the written recipe in the description soon so you can try it out for the 4th of July holiday, right? (that's if you live in USA). :)
naly3782 I think you meant Cooking with Nana: Tum Mua (Spicy `Everything` Salad) in this video I used khaopoon noodles but you can use any noodles you like.
You made enough sauce for 2 packs of pho.. the oil needs to be hot first than add the sugar. You have to cook on medium heat so the noodles wont burn. you forgot lemon or vinegar to balance the sweetness. And its too wet to eat right away. Your suppose to let it cool down and then separate the noodles. Instead of msg.. sub it for chicken bouillon for those who dont like msg. I dont know what region this kua mee originated from, maybe from ban nog? Lol. This tutorial is all wrong
Mijn naam Wow, how rude. Keep your stupid comment to yourself. You're just jealous she makes good food and you can't. So you came on here to watch and learn.

Too sauce must be very salty 🧂 I cooked 🍳 mine very dry oil 🛢 garlic and noodles 🍜 stir fry until soft then put sauce lightly
Thanks Euy Nana for sharing with us. You make cooking Laos food look so easy.
u have MAGIC HANDS! whatever u made 'look delicious! the demo. r easy 2 follow' thanks chef. i yuv u! ' my tummy says 'i want some hyhy!'
I made this for dinner with less sugar than what you did. The family loved it. I served it on a bed of romaine lettuce with long slivers of cucumbers.
It depends on the noodle you used. If you used dry noodles, you have to soak them in water until soft (about 30 min.)
I've been thinking about this dish because I always have an extra bag of pho noodles after making pho, I was going to ask my mom for her recipe. I'm definitely making this today!!! Thanks!!
ritaho85 did you make it and how did it turn out? I'm sure it turned out great. ;)
Love lao food....and I love ur video. Great step by step cooking!

Kathy Souimaniphanh, yes please try it out and share your results, hopefully with photos.
I tried this recipe today and it tasted amazing but my noodles ended up being too hard. Does that mean I need to cook it longer? I did add some water thinking it would help but it didn't.

TheKiamm I will squeeze in some pad Thai if I have time, but right now I'm trying to concentrate on Lao food, which is harder to find.
This will be my next experiment soon. Wish me luck Nana and I will let you know how it goes. Hugs!

Anne Vang, you're welcome! I hope you try it soon.

Cook as normal and put in the 2 packages of noodles.
Made this too... very yummy. .
love you and your cooking Nana =)
I loved this tutorial! Is there somehow I can use a different noodle, will it still be the same?
+Quynh Le, you can use any noodle that is similar in texture to the pho noodles. If the noodle breaks apart easily, it won't work.
it looks really yummy. but me i would add little more noodles so it wont be too soggy like too wet or too much of liquid. thats just my thought but i like looking at your recipes.

How lao people really do this noodle recipe? Based on the sauces you used, almost all of them are similarly used in thailand.
Michael Ash, glad you enjoyed it. Just trying to do my part to help bring Lao food from the shadows. ;)
What if I don't have thin soy sauce? Can I replace it with kikkoman brand soy sauce?
Sophany Thong You can use the kikkoman soy sauce, but it will make it taste very different. Thin soy sauce is not very hard to find at the Asian market.
Damn nana I'm Mao haaang lolz got me wathn n cooking at DA same time.. Mexxi gurrl ,😍😍😘luv ya cooking

Really good recipe! :)
I would love to visit and learn how to cook with you
Do you know how to make a dish similar to papaya except you use pho noodles and meatballs? My friend said its call sexy papaya?
naly3782 I think you meant Cooking with Nana: Tum Mua (Spicy `Everything` Salad) in this video I used khaopoon noodles but you can use any noodles you like.
Yummy kua mee
Anyone ever try this without sugar? I've been searching for a recipe that doesn't have sugar
This style of noodles is meant to have some sweetness.
