My smart action is that instead telling myself I'm gonna do something until a certain time, I stop when I feel my brain needs a break and cycle around that instead of always looking at the time.
I just picked one of these up. Just started using it. but I'm very happy with it right away. The thing is a beast, solid and heavier than it looks. It feels comfortable typing on it, and it looks great aesthetically. There's so much functionality that it'll take a while to play around with and get set up like I want it. If you can afford it (at 200 bucks, it a little pricey), I definitely recommend it.
@@omartaka206 It's still my favorite. I have a Das Keyboard that I used for a couple of years and I still have it, but I prefer the Logitech combo. I charge it up once a week and it's good to go. I can switch between my desktop and laptop with the touch of a button. I do like the click of mechanical keyboards, but this one just has such a great feel when typing.
As a university student my custom smart action would be to open my morning setup with Safari, Visual Studio Code, and Notion for my daily tasks and assignments.
I bought one to be sleek when I finish my program and become a financial advisor. I bought this combo for use in the office for a nice looking nice feeling sleek set. But the corporations rules don’t allow me to download the app, so I get none of the customization. The Logitech support staff on the phone confirmed that. But also they messed up my order and I ended up with 2 sets. So I’m gunna use that for home. One in black and one in graphite for the office. All for $180 on tax free weekend. What a way to start off my career. They really messed up and had me on the phone for 3 hours. I think it was their way of saying sorry. Thanks Logitech and FedEx for your incompetence. You’ve upgraded my home office and my office. At least this way I get to use the customizable features at home.
data science student!! my custom smart action opens up notion (since everything i need is here, from daily habits to schedules), visual studio code, spotify and codecademy (helps me to learn if it just pops up straight away on my screen, got this habit from the book Atomic Habits) 🤞🏼
Easily the best review on these keyboards on UA-cam! Been watching a handful of them and this definitely sealed the deal for me. You've earned yourself a sub!
This video was what I was looking for! Okay now I'm really looking forward to owning one of these. My custom action would be to open Zotero and Notion side by side because as a PhD student I'm constantly taking notes on the literature I read, and this would feel so productive 😅
Did you get it? If yes, how is it? I sent mine back because I prefer mechanical keyboards and the scissor switches don´t really last long enough to justify this price. For school I bough myself a cheap $15 Amazon keyboard which I can connect via bluetooth to my Tablet and the switches feel exactly the same, it´s quiet and a very good keyboard for typing in class.
I wanted to like this keyboard a lot. Unfortunately, I experienced annoying lags. Every 10 minutes or so it got stuck and then repeated the last pressed key mullllltiiiiipleeee tiiiimeees. It got especially annoying when the repeated key turned out to be backspace because it deleted lots of text. I tried everything imaginable - Bolt and Bluetooth connection, disabling my router's 2.4GHz, disabling all Bluetooth devices nearby. Did not help. Even my old Logitech MK260 wireless did not have such issues. Really sad, considering the price of MX Keys.
Great review, and now I'm definitely coveting this combo (and I've been wanting to get a wireless combo to clean up my desk space a bit)! I'd use it at home, so my "morning routine" would actually be my evening routine of opening Chrome, WOW, Curseforge, and Discord, and getting ready to relax for a few hours while running through the Dragon Isles :)
Great video ! I didn’t know how many possibilities you had on Logitech Options to configure. For information, the 3 new buttons you speak about the new Logitech MX Keys S, are already present on the Logitech MX Keys mini (I have one for work and I love it) 😊
I’ve had the earlier Logitech Mx Keys keyboard with the MX 3S Logitech mouse together and they are great. I did however notice that my wrists get achy after longer working sessions and hope the dedicated wrist cushion will alleviate wrist pain. My best keyboard experience was with a crazy expensive 3D half round split keyboard where both hands don’t need to remain unnaturally close.
I just got this keyboard because it feels much more solid and responsive than any other wireless keyboard I came across so far. Typing is really fine as said in the video and you can easily connect up to three different devices with different OS. However, the big bid drawback of this keyboard is the so called intelligent backlight which I dont find very intelligend. I am working most of my time in the evening when its already getting dark. So I definitively need backlight. Its also cool that the intelligent backlight adapts to different light conditions. But what is utmost uncool that it turns out immediately after only a view seconds of inactivity, even if you rest your fingers on the keys. It just turns out which is very annoying because you first need to touch or press a key again to turn it on again. And so far I didnt find out a way to overrule this behavior. So intelligence is good but is this regard its annoying. I often take a think break before following on writing. Then when I want continue writing the keyboard is completely dark. I have to orientate in the dark to find the right key for continuing writing. Hey, Mr. keyboard designer pls. implement an option so that that intelligent backlight shines forever until I switches the turn-off key. And just another thing not to forget to mention the receiver plug-in is USB 3.0. My Mac only has USB-C ports so that an adapter is needed = extra costs. Thanks!!
Great video. Is it possible to attach DIFFERENT smart actions to a given key when certain programs are open/in focus? (In other videos I have seen that, for example, different shortcuts can be associated with the same key depending on the program in focus. It would be very nice to be able to do the same for smart actions.)
My custom smart action would also be starting the pomodoro timer, and opening vscode and iterm. Time to work! I love my previous Logitech mx keys but would love this combo
Probably like what you made in your video. Make a smart action to open up Lightroom/photoshop with another opening Apple Music to play certain music for editing time.
My custom smart action would be opening multiple browser windows according to the work type I want to do (I'm differentiating between college (research, etc.), consulting job, freelancing work and private browsing stuff). Unfortunately I'm living in Germany 😂
If we configure this keyboard actions on one laptop then same configuration can work on other device? Or we again need to add actions on the buttons for second laptop
If I can make multiple smart actions I would like to have one for opening my work related apps and another to open new virtual desktop and open my personal project related apps.
After giving it some thought, I came up with three great ideas that I think would make good use of the Smart Action button on the Logitech MX Master 3s mouse in different environments. For software development, I thought of a function called 'Magic Code Generator' that would automatically generate predefined code snippets with just a press of the button. In software engineering, I thought of configuring it for 'Instant Version Control' that would instantly capture and attach code snapshots to your version control system. And for video editing, I came up with assigning the button to apply 'Custom Transitions,' allowing you to easily add unique and creative transitions between video clips. These ideas are sure to help you optimize your work and bring a touch of innovation to your daily tasks. hope to win the combo as I truly need it! It would be incredibly beneficial for me!! 🤞🏻
Wonder how this compares to the Dell Premier KB900? This is subjective and different for other but the keys on the logitech Ergo K680 sounded a bit quieter when I tested the display model at my local Staples store.
The short answer is no, with the logo app though, an installation on each device, you can "flow" by holding the cursor on one edge of the screen and it will switch devices. I result to switching the keyboard and mouse individually between devices
Sadly, the MX Keys S in UK is not the same as the US version. Like the MX Keys that came before it here in the UK we have a left shift key that's less than half the width of the US version. I wore mine out because I kept hitting it at an angle with my nail, and getting keycap replacements over here is really hard. Wouldn't have that problem with the key layout reviewed. Shame because apart from that it's a nice keyboard. I would tell everyone in the UK to give this one a miss.
Please don't lies to your self: 1) The F1-12 keys it's must have for programmers, but Logitech think it's secondary for users and by default switched to multimedia keys not Functional (*yep it's can be changed) but stay problem what F keys to near at digital/symbols blok it's not looks like ideal for programmers =) 2) Programmers work 8-10*5 hours and Lithium battery it's not good solution - for all commercial solution Logitech make on replaceable battery type AA or somethink 3) The MX Keys S does not have internal memory and can't work with some setting what your apply features without Logitech Options+, but it must have for programmers.
MX Keys S - it's good keyborad with soft and around siliens ckick, but too expensive with midle functionality and midle usability and not COOL and especially for programmers!
The branded UA-cam we want we need. So yeah MKBHD is too big like he’s just on his trajectory but like there’s still this thing if the world is a screen like yeah whatever influencer checked the boxes but where is the push for people of color in programming. Like yeah there’s individual effort but like at what point are we going to say we just need investment for things for African Americans in technology. I’m not an expert but dr Dorothy roberts and dr.jasmine brown are great and wrote really great books. Like I really don’t know what to do because there’s weird binary conversations that consumes us and like people just need to do stuff in web3.
My custom smart action would be one that opens chrome with stack overflow with chat GPT with terminal and IntelliJ. My daily driver 😂. Love your videos there awesome. Been following u since I saw ur first day in the life as a software engineer. @ralph_o.0

Love it!
wow that action to trigger chat gpt with a highlighted text was amazing! I have this mouse, now wondering to buy the mx keys!
great video man!
My smart action would go along the lines of opening up google calendars, a google sheet, and workday. Game changer!
The custom smart action would come in clutch for my daily work task and with this combo, it's basically all I need to run my business.
Thumbs up for good choice of opening music. haha ;) But yeah, would've still loved them separate inside the box.

I love this smart action feature! What a combo
Damn he really attacked me when he said most of us talk in emojis😂😂
The emoji button ...literally is the thing that sold me
For me it’s very important the silence while I’m coding, and also I use keys like insert, so it’s perfect
Smart action would open my music and start playing my get ready for the day playlist!!! Music is life!!!
Easily the best review on these keyboards on UA-cam! Been watching a handful of them and this definitely sealed the deal for me. You've earned yourself a sub!
I love the watch! The best thing in the video ;)
I love this smart action feature

As someone who always needs a ton of tabs and applications open for my work, my smart action would definitely just be to open all of them up
you just sold me this kit, well done
I love this smart action feature! What a combo

Smart action features are great 🔥 gysai
Nice video! Greetings from Brazil!

wonder if there is a mouse , the same as that but for left hand
I’ve had the earlier Logitech Mx Keys keyboard with the MX 3S Logitech mouse together and they are great. I did however notice that my wrists get achy after longer working sessions and hope the dedicated wrist cushion will alleviate wrist pain.
My best keyboard experience was with a crazy expensive 3D half round split keyboard where both hands don’t need to remain unnaturally close.
Hi! Just wanna ask if the cushion helped with your ache? I am also planning on buying it, too, with the keyboard.

My custom smart action would probably be opening up a couple terminals along with opening a browser and an editor

I can see myself using this smart action a lot
I’d use the smart action to open multiple browsers and tabs. Elegant solution for simple tasks.
On the right corner at 6:02 what app is that that says friends activity
The wrist rest is so thin it does not add value, you might want to purchase KB and mouse separately so you get two Bolt receivers.
Probably like what you made in your video. Make a smart action to open up Lightroom/photoshop with another opening Apple Music to play certain music for editing time.

Emoji key is useless... Press Windows button and period...
Do the lights flash by themselves like the old one?
I know that this a stupid question, but does haveing a separate keyboard improve coding efficentacy?
Not a stupid question and I def think so
What are the real differences except remaping the keyboard icons ?
What does custom smart action mean
Anyone got a link to that mousepad??, the one in the link isnt it
Wonder how this compares to the Dell Premier KB900?
This is subjective and different for other but the keys on the logitech Ergo K680 sounded a bit quieter when I tested the display model at my local Staples store.
The emoji got me
lol
any programmer who used this keyboard knows this is an painful keyboard. its 60 gf actuation would make your fingers sour in no time
Is it not ideal for programmers?
it depend on how much do you code per day. if you are a heavy coder, I'd say stay away@@colin6711
Does Logitech allow for the keyboard and mouse to switch machines by just using the keyboard, or do you have to toggle the keyboard and the mouse?
I was wandering the same... Did you find the answer?
The short answer is no, with the logo app though, an installation on each device, you can "flow" by holding the cursor on one edge of the screen and it will switch devices. I result to switching the keyboard and mouse individually between devices
My action would be launching teams / email and the excel as an engineer
