A variable height desk is an overengineered and pointlessly expensive solution though @@TheCentre101 I take a completely different approach to a standing desk Mine is 2.75m long. 0.75m deep and has maybe 50-60kg of stuff on it [3 large monitors, audio and dj gear]. The key thing is that it's fixed height and I have a high chair instead. Far simpler, more versatile and massively cheaper than raising a desk up and down. Built it myself from Ikea adjustable legs/desktops and 2x20mm thick MDF. Not that you can even get such a rising desk this big. It used to be even bigger with an extra section that made it L-shaped, but decided I didn't need 4.5m of desktop.

This guide has been absolutely incredible, no understatement. Parts that I questioned at first got me agreeing with them like the single cord being a big deal and the wobble chair. I feel like I've wasted so much for not having the foot exercise part, so I'll focus on getting something similar as my first improvement to my setup. Thank you again for the guide!

Love the set up! The biggest game-changer for me has been getting a standing desk. Whenever I have an energy dip, I stand for at least half an hour. This instantly increases my energy levels again. It apparently also has tons of health benefits. Can recommend it to everyone!
If you’re going to use a use an ergonomic keyboard, I’d recommend going all the way and using a split keyboard, it’s so much nicer to have your hands on the same axis as your shoulders, and it allows you to place something in the middle and adjust the position of only one of the halves. Plus most of them have an option to adjust the angle, unlike the one you’re currently using.

00:40 the ability to look down will come in handy in an online class or a work meeting where you might do a quick drawing or calculation on paper and want everyone to see it as a first draft. Or if you play trading card games via remote and the judges need to see all your cards at all times. It's a great addition!
To me, nothing beats a custom desk board built by your local carpenter in the wood and finish of your choice, and a good set of stand-up desk feet. It is super easy to setup, much nicer looking and cheaper while reflecting your personality more than this kind of finished product.

The power cable that goes through the table stand is awesome. This is the only part in my setup that looks unmanaged. Also impressed by the BenQ Halo light, more so with the temperature dialer and back lighting. The light at the back of the screen to light the wall is so so important. When I drive a car during the day that has a black dashboard, it strains my eyes because of the stark transition.

I’m with you on the Belkin wireless stand. I resisted for so long, got one for my desk and liked it so much I got another one for my nightstand. They sell certified refurbished models if you can get them, which definitely takes away some sting of their price

I've had a ring light since last year. I thought I would really like it but its been straining my eyes whenever I use it. Thanks for the idea of adding it behind my monitor to help my eyes instead of hurt them. It works great!

As someone who has been using Opera as my primary browser since I first discovered that it was an option, the tab island is something that I am in love with but I didn't know about the little plus on the islands until you mentioned it. I actually paused the video just to check it out.
the only problem with opera is that its known to have previously stolen user data without their permission using their vpn and most features are in edge/chrome

One of my favorite additions is a hammock for your feet under the desk, it's really taken a lot of strain off my lower back and hips! That with an ergo chair like an Aeron and it's first class sitting!
I have the Nulaxy laptop stand and BenQ light - you're exactly spot on, they are excellent products. I even bought a 2nd BenQ light for my adjacent monitor.
I've bought "Letiz Wobble Stool" and for the first time ever I feel happy about my "sitting" position as I've quite expensive "balancing" chair, but as I'm a man, it's low for me, so knees was crying and I've end up on some cheap crappy chair. Now I can stand, sit, or semi-stand-sit with this stool. It's nice and robust. In short: I really thank you for this tip as it makes me very happy (as all-the-time sitting developer...).

For looking down the webcam, you can show your mouse and keyboard while playing games specially competitive to show off your capabilities and the keyboard and mouse adjustment while playing. Most of the people are interested in it.
I have very recently got myself a standing desk, but one thing I noticed is that it is very hard to hide the wires. I like to move my laptop front and back, so got an arm, and having it means I had to add extra wire so it doesn't get rigid. Not sure what can be done there though, but still, my setup is looking good enough that I'm able to concentrate my work.
I'm SOLD... I really feel like there's hope. My desk currently looks like that broll video of that messy desk and it turns my stomach. I was like "where the heck are bro's wires?" lol. Love it and thank you so much. I will be doing a little research and purchasing from your links.
