I have a question, in some of my other crafts that I make, I have to be careful not to use anything “licensed” to avoid copywriter issues if I plan on selling them. Is this applicable with fabric? Also, I have a suggestion. When I am working with fabric, I cut a piece that will be a little larger than the size I need. , I lay it on a piece of parchment paper and I cover it with glue. (In this case the glitter glue). I give it a few hrs to dry. (It probably won’t take that long) It will make the fabric stiff and you can trim it down to the exact size you need to cover your cup. I then just cover the cup with glue and place the fabric on. Then reapply the glitter glue on the fabric. This eliminates the cutting off the bottom and top. It will also eliminate the pattern from being stretched out of shape. I just thought I’d share that little hack with you.
I so hope this stuff is in stock the next time I order! I have started using a rotary cutter I stole from my sewing supplies and dedicated it to fabric tumblers. I put my cup in a cup rest and then I can get the right amount of pressure and less snags and loose threads for that seam cut. I use the edging tool for top and bottom
I made 2 beautiful cups back when I was using epoxy. I had this beautiful fabric my husband bought me oh EBay. Now was an underwater scene with dolphins. I fussy cut out the dolphins and fish. I painted the cup a beautiful dark blue. I let the paint dry overnight. I placed my dolphins and fish old with mod lodge. I also some napkins with fish on them. I fussy cut then out as well and put them on with MP also. After everything was dry, I proceeded to add my epoxy. Once I was finished, it had this 3D look to it and it was beautiful! I made a Walking Dead cup basically the same way but it looked like I had blood al, over the cup. (I’m a huge WD fan). I said I had 2 cups but I actually had 3 cups. The 3 cup was a Gambling cup where I have used an image from the internet and used that as a waters, slide and added my favorite sayings that are frequently used around the craps table with vinyl. ( I’m also a huge fan of playing craps when we go to Vegas). They all three looked amazing and I wish I still had photos of them I am going to be trying to remake them using Crystalac. I was so mad when I left my Vegas cup at the craps table one morning. I can’t wait to remake all 3 of these using Crystalac products.
Can you use any glitter glue?? Also can you put glitter in the glitter glue? Jw found some at Micheals and I’m ready to make a fabric tumbler.. thank in advance
I just can’t believe you made a tumbler with fabric!!! I’m new to this and watching your videos I’m going to go broke lol thank you for all the tutorials ands for making them short and efficient!! What size fabric did you use for your cup?
Alison does it have to be cotton fabric? I sew also and have lots of fabric but not all of it is cotton. But I have lots of cute prints I could make tumblers for kids with!!
Try Power Tac from Bearly arts glue company; it's a substitute for E6000. It has superb strength and little odor. I can't use mod podge or E6000 because of the odor.
@@AlisonCrafts it's not for gluing, but used for heavy duty adhering. I used it to attach glass knobs to the bottom of a resin tray, used as the feet for the tray. I mentioned it because it has super strength like the E6000 in the tube, not the spray. Power tac has little odor, unlike the E6000 in the tube. I didn't realize until now that there is an E6000 spray.
I’m still lost on cutting the seam part! Aghhhh!!! Are you cutting where it over laps somewhere in between or where the seam is first glued? (I hope I make sense. Lol)
anywhere in the region that the overlap! I wish i was better at the process so it was easier to film LOL so they should overlap by about an inch or so. anywhere in that region, you can cut. So you are cutting through two pieces of fabric!
Great tutorial! The only thing I’m lost on is how to clean up the edge of the drinking rim part. If you take the BT all the way up as seen in your video... does the rim need to be sanded before final layer of BT or do you sand every 3 layers?? Or do you sand rim at all??
I sanded the cup before i base coated it. you can sand the edges if you need to in order to get them smooth, mine didn't need it. As a general rule, you sand every 3 layers as needed. If it's smooth, you do not need to sand.
Would the glitter glue work for the tack it method since it dries tacky? I cannot get the tack it method to work with the BT. Now I’m off to order the glitter glue! Thanks for bringing this product to my attention. You rock! I’ve learned so much from you! 🙂
Hi Alison I just recently found out I’m pregnant is brute tone still safe to use I assume it is I been using it inside and no gloves so I’m thinking it is but just want to make sure and I know your so good at responding quickly 🤗 thanks
Thanks for the tutorial. May I just be a little negative Nancy? The cup edging tool on amazon is a knock off from China I believe. The Real inventor for it is called wicked shimmer supplies. They are also a small biz and super nice. They have the patent pending I believe. Sorry that was already it
You can use mod podge but it needs to dry several days. And i would put a different sealer on top of the mod podge because it can react funny with the BriteTone.
Hi Allison I a bit confused I’m trying to apply adhesive vinyl to my fabric cup, I’m just not sure when I can apply it to the cup? Should I sand after three coats of BT then applying the vinyl or apply the vinyl then sand? Or when do I apply the vinyl? Thank you in advance
I have unfinished cups I started when I was using epoxy which I can't anymore. I have two fabric and zipper cups all mod podge sealed but no epoxy on them. They have sat for about a year now so can I start to finish them by applying BT layer by layer or are they doomed unless I use epoxy?

I love doing fabric tumblers and can’t wait to try with glitter glue. I use tshirt/stretchy fabrics on curved tumblers with great success!
I haven't tried stretchy fabric! Maybe one of my next cups LOL!
Try the red heat n bond an heat gun no sealer needed

Good question about licensing. I hope to see an answer too
That looks so much easier and faster than mod podge! Thanks for always sharing.
so much better!!

Would this same technique work for paper, like cardstock as well? Or would there be a better method?

🤩 so easy. Do you have a link for the edger? I didn't see it on your Amazon store link

There are no toxic fumes or hazardous ingredients but this is really a question for your doctor! Congratulations!
Can you do this method on tumblers that are already sealed? Like cups/tumblers you buy from Walmart or target?
if they have the powder coating on them they need to be stripped down first.

I always inform people of this as well.
Hi!! 2 questions..
1. Can i use a sublimation tumbler?
2. Can I use polyester instead of cotton??
Thank you!!
You can use a sublimation tumbler, just sand it first. I've never done polyester but i don't see why not
Try the red heat n bond seen a lady use it and no sealer was needed she put the red head n bond on fabric covered tumbler used heat gun and bam
Hey Alison! How long do you gas off with spray paint using the GG for these fabrics?
48 hours :)
Do you find that the GG sort-of raises the "grain" of the fabric? Will this sand down or be smoothed out by the glitter glue?
I haven't found that, no, but you should get a smooth surface after a few coats of brite tone!
Question. When you cut the seam, do you let it dry 2 hours first or cut it when it’s still wet?
I cut it when it's wet!
I love this but can we use mod podge if that's what we have? Does mod podge work with crystalac?
You can use mod podge but it needs to dry several days. And i would put a different sealer on top of the mod podge because it can react funny with the BriteTone.

Apply your vinyl when your fabric is completely covered and smooth! You don't have to sand before you apply vinyl but some people do!
Thank you so much 😊
Can I use this glitter glue to decoupage napkins as well? Its rather more difficult to work with than fabric.
I've never used napkins before but I don't see why not! I'm sure that is a skill in and of itself being able to decoupage napkins!
I have started using brite tone and my fabric tumbler is not glossy and shiny. Do you have any advice for me?
How many coats do you have? did you use glitter glue? Are you using the GLOSS brite tonE?
@@AlisonCrafts I used mod podge and my brite tone is gloss. I have 6 coats so far.
Did you let the spray paint has off for 24-48 hours before adding the glitter glue ?
yes! 48 hours minimum, i waited 48.
I have unfinished cups I started when I was using epoxy which I can't anymore. I have two fabric and zipper cups all mod podge sealed but no epoxy on them. They have sat for about a year now so can I start to finish them by applying BT layer by layer or are they doomed unless I use epoxy?
you can finish them up with bt!

Do you need to gas off your spray paint still before the glue?
Yes, spray paint needs to dry 48 hours
I’m new on this . I’m doing my first tumbler . Do you know why is getting chewy ?
chewy??
I don't have glitter glue yet can I use mod podge instead if so how long should I let it sit and how many coats do I need to do?
I would use E6000 over mod podge you'd need like 4 coats vs 6-8 of modpodge. Id let the modpodge dry a week before putting anything on it
@@AlisonCrafts i cant find the E6000 anywhere here
do you think black gloss would work as a base coat ?
yep! you'll need a few coats!
@@AlisonCrafts thank you
So what reason would someone choose fabric over a printed design on paper or printable vinyl?
Honestly, just a different method. The fabric could have a pattern you can't get elsewhere! Or maybe you don't have a printer!
Is brite tone a sealer? No epoxy used?
Yep, it's a non-toxic top coat :) I'm 100% epoxy free over here!

Before you add the GG onto the fabric for the first layer, do you let the fabric adhere to the GG on the cup for 2hrs!
What size is the square??
just measure around your cup and make it a little bigger than your cup!
I'm allergic to epoxy is your brand better
CrystaLac company products have been in use for over 40 years and have had zero reported allergic reations so I'd say yes
Mod podge does not take days....wow. sell your stuff without putting the next person's item down.
