Hi Danie! A tip to help alleviate smell of chemicals during projects like these is to place a medium-sized bowl of white vinegar in the room overnight. It’s truly magical.
Or use a container with a layer of baking soda in it. The larger the area, the larger the container. It needs to have low sides, so it's a shallow container. For this situation, I'd use a "pop flat". You know, the shallow box that a case of soda cans come in. Stores with pop machines would have them. Then evenly spread the baking soda in it, but do not pack it down! For this situation I'd use 2 of the standard size boxes. Buy it at Dollar Tree and it'll only be $1 (US) a box. We use it in our frig to eliminate odors, why not in the bathroom ⁉️ Using the same technique, use charcoal in place of baking soda. Charcoal removes odors AND absorbs moisture❗
@@DIYDanie How does your redesign hold up to retaining heat? Know someone who did something similarly, but their dramatically larger than normal shower space made the warmth dissipate too quickly. I’m curious about yours since it’s more of an average size shower/tub size?
When you cut the hole in the hall wall, I started laughing. Every project at our home has similar circumstances. Instead of domino effect, my husband calls it scope creep: the scope of the project creeps outward and the budget upward! I loved the results, and they gave me some much needed inspiration for our front bath. Thanks!
Project projection (usually in every direction, LOL)! A couple of decades ago a project to replace carpet with new carpet ended up with new hardwood floors, a kitchen remodel, new roof, new stairwell treads & spindles, and a new front door. Go figure!
@@dlsdyer9071 Holy cow! That's a lot of scope creep. ::blinks:: Really astonishing. In our case, we replaced a single A/C unit that had been embedded through our living room wall with HVAC. The HVAC was great, but when they removed the A/C unit they discovered that our living room, feature rock wall was a fake. We found two windows, a fireplace, and an extra 18 inches of space behind the wall! Now we have built-ins and a gorgeous fireplace!

Living in France, I can attest that these half door things are very popular. I still have no idea how to take a shower without getting water EVERYWHERE! Yours looks so cute though...
Haha, I was wondering about that! Thanks for the heads up. Maybe there's a way to add a discrete liner for the other half, or just super caulk the flooring? It's so cute, could be worth the trouble.
Same. My in laws have that here in Argentina, and every time I take a shower at theirs I make puddles of water all over the floor. This looks gorgeous anyways.
Exactly. It's beautiful but there's no way to keep the water in. Would make me crazy having to clean up the mess. I wish it could be a bigger sliding door or something with the same style.
@@Arionlappy actually... you could probably do a sliding door version of this! Either doing the trick on both doors or just on the outer one for the same style with no mess.
Ummm... do you find that the window wall does enough to keep the water in? It looks beautiful but I worry about water spraying out of the shower onto the floor.
I really appreciate you doing stuff that is budget-friendly. Some UA-camrs are 'gifted' furnishings, etc which co$t huge amounts most of us can't afford. Hi from Australia xx
Looks great! Love the glass shower wall, sleek and modern! The rain shower head being straight down is a great way to keep water from making a big mess on the floor, 😉 smart. As always a fantastic upgrade!
Oh my goodness. I love the shower door idea. I have just spent 20 minutes in the guest bath measuring it out to see if it would work in there. Thanks!! You are amazing.
Wow, this looks GREAT.😍 I'd love to see one of these half walls in a sliding door version. Something that is thin but still durable and also discreet enough that when opened it still looks like a half wall. Basically two panes of glass that line up so well that it looks like one. This way the one pane can slide over making a full wall when showering because I know myself.😂
Love how you transformed the glass shower door, I just wish you had painted the silver fixtures on the tub drain hole and the one below your new fixture just to make it match your new hardware other than that really love how it turned out.
my antie has a shower where there’s no door and no glass and the concrete and the floor is made in a way where the water can only go to the drain if it splashes and it’s really easy if you do get water on the floor you would have to squeegee it into the drain
I love the painted tiles! It was obviously a lot of work, but it ended up looking so nice and it's so much less wasteful than ripping everything out and re-tiling.
I’ve actually been looking for a way to bring more light into my dark and dingy bathroom, I got a hotel shower curtain with a window top to try and help but this is more my style. I’d probably try to fog the bottom lol just to make it more private

I thought the same
I’ve heard it does not
Maybe it's okay in this case since it looks like the water comes straight down with the new hardware instead of at an angle like typical hardware?
We just stayed at a hotel with a similar layout and water went everywhere and it was so cold in the shower because there was so much air flow.
My parents have a shower like this. With me is ok, with my dad water goes EVERYWHERE
Not me watching this in the shower 😅 I don’t have a waterproof case tho so I guess you could say I love life on the edge
