I completely forgot to share the sealing of the tile floor and the walls! You actually use the same exact product for both (just a good quality stone sealer) and roll it on with a roller. It adds an additional waterproof barrier and literally repels the water!

You and Justin are really getting quite good at tiling. When you are able to see things level and plumb, it is amazing what you can do with tile. Love the way you include the transitions to wall and around the edges. Many people who tile, just do not do this and I think it is because they are just doing the minimum required with the base tile and not thinking about the beauty added when incorporating cut pieces and trim pieces to their design. You two really are working well together doing these installs. The only thing that surprised me is that you did not do the plumbing yourselves. I still remember the first time I installed a toilet and it worked; it was just so empowering. You really should try it. Really loved the use of this cement treatment. Sure. Some would just retile every time, but doing the different bathrooms differently really ups the design elements of the entire home. And I see this house is truly turning into your home! You should all be so proud! 👏
I was surprised, too about the plumbing part. Maybe bcz he does so many other things. Plus, ive seen it done many times (got a very handy husband) that i feel i could do it myself if u had to. Of course, with an old house (and lots of plaster) i can understand nit wanting to chance water damage should there b a mistake. 😉
I probably would have used drywall to cover the side that was in the laundry room and the bottom half of the bathroom side. Then used the opening to add shelves for built in storage.
Your creativity and skill, not only in homemaking but also in videography is actually breathtaking at this point. I've been following for years, and your spanish home is a dream come true - but this video actually made me gasp. I felt so silly because I somehow got a little bit overwhelmed/emotional by the reveal of this, but it just comes down to your artistry - this is art, without a done. Well done, Drew, can't wait to see what more you have in store for us
I’m always amazed at your skills even when it is your first time at a particular task! But the look on your face when the scored drywall suddenly fell was the exact picture of the startled novice. I love your honest steps toward mastery!
Top marks again, Drew! Your attention to detail, and the way nothing is too much trouble to get the right look (like repainting the vanity), is just fantastic.
When I tell you I ran, I ran to the store to get that paint at Sherwin Williams! I am so glad, you changed the color of the vanity because that is exactly the color I needed to finish my living room! Thank you so so so much for this beautiful inspiration.
Didn’t know if you knew this. I didn’t til I worked at Lowes and contractors bought it. A small gel bag that you throw in the toilet and it absorbs all the toilet water left in the bottom. They would buy it by the case when they came in.
Yeah and I don’t know if he didn’t know this or just didn’t show it, but if you flush the toilet a couple of times after you turn off the water it drains out most of the water. Thought it was worth mentioning for those who weren’t aware and thought you had to bail out ALL of the water.
Your skill set has improved so much. You will soon be a master craftsman at tile work. I want you to attack the outdoor fountain tile work this summer. I am so proud of you and that Architectural Digest has recognized your creativity and talent. The bathroom looks wonderful. So many of us have ugly or original tile work. My original tile is from 1937. This technique is a game changer for a lot of us. Tearing out that tile is not an option because the tile is attached with mesh, rebar and cement to an exterior brick wall. It also encompasses the entire fenestra steel window frames. Thank you for providing me with a viable and doable option for renovation.
Drew, I'm a person who loves everything modern, but you've really changed my mind. OMG! That bathroom is stunning, and I love it. Thank you for sharing, I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of your transformation. 😊❤🎉
Outstanding, Drew. I’m so glad you repainted the vanity in the reddish color. It all came together in a gorgeous way. And as always, the reveal music 🎶 is ❤
Finally! I have been looking for this kind of product forever! I do not want tiles in my bathroom because it is a hassle to clean, so I wish to have nice flat walls everywhere. So glad it actually exist! And of course, beautiful makeover.
Absolutely gorgeous and so much work you put into it!!! But my eyes can’t stop obsessing on the point of the mirror jutting over the chair rail. Why am I like that??🙄
This is so ingenious. This is even cheaper than painting with tile paint primer and white paint. Thanks for the awesome idea. The outdated tile in our bathroom is in desperate need of a revamp. 🙏
Those walls & the floor are amazing. I don't get the mirror, MaCenna put one like that in her bathroom at the cottage. With all the beautiful mirrors to choose from. For some reason that shape & the dark wood trim reminds me of knights, possible the shape of there shield, yes I think that may be it! And when you see it you can't unsee it. I believe that shape is used on other things in the King & Queen days & all there movies. Maybe I wrong. I have been wrong many times. But that's all I can see when I look at the mirror! Everything else is fantastic! You knocked it outa the park once again. With design choices!
At first, I thought you were gonna build storage into the wall space which is such a fun opportunity when you remove a door. Your final design was of course beautiful as well
I'm not sure how I missed this release but I saw the bathroom in a more recent video and I said "What?!?" I have to see that bathroom makeover by Drew. I gotta say, WOW, just WOW. That is so amazing and tranformative. You have shared SO MUCH COOL STUFF in this video: The removal of the door, the reveal that you have never moved a toilet (ha ha), the beautiful wall treatment that ALSO goes on the ceiling and the FLOOR of the shower?!!, the flooring (So beautiful) and finally the awesome tip on how to age that Brassy Brass!. FANTASTIC! Love this!
This is stunning! We’re just about to embark on a similar project, although only 32sq ft, and this aesthetic is exactly what I’m hoping to achieve.. thank you thank you, thank you Drew, between you & macenna, you’re bringing my home to life!
I'm so happy you changed the vanity from the blue to the aurora brown. I had to quit watching when you were painting it and wasn't sure I was feeling the blue (although pretty). That new color is rich and gorgeous and just tied it together so perfectly!!! I love the bathroom!❤ you always do such an amazing job.
Love the carpet that you showed while antiquing the brass!!! I want. Also love the antiqued brass. The finished bathroom is effing gorgeous. You are my new favorite. Nothing is overdone. Love your style. What an artist!
Just bought this from them over the phone for my home in Colorado. It's going on a wall next to a rectangular free standing tub to help reduce water damage via little ones splashing while bathing....colour chose ''natural white'' and can't wait to see the finished product! Yours looked great!!
1. No additional functional storage was added? (That hanging shelf unit is pretty but of limited function.) 2. Does the room have a venting fan for moisture?
This concretta product seems incredible. I knew there had to be something like it to cover tile that wasn't a plastic bath fitter in a shower. Would love a follow up in a couple months to see how it's holding up. Thank you for sharing your creativity, research, and, and hard work with us!
Looks really nice. I am however, worried about walls. It would be interesting if you could do an update in a year or so and see how that held up. Wondering if it will stain and hold up to the water.
Yet another make-over that blew me away, Drew. I love how you chose the perfect shade of red flowers to compliment the brown of the vanity unit. Your attention to detail is second to none. Congrats on making it into the Architectural Digest btw.
I think the cement look is great and fits your house well. I just think you missed an opportunity with sealing the door up. You definitely could have made that into a built-in storage unit for more storage since you were half way there when you removed the door! Otherwise it looks great!
It would have only been a few inches deep, unless the cabinet intruded out into the other room or hallway. Plus, it would be awkward having a door opening up into the bathroom. That being said, we never got to see that part of the finished room.
DREW-NEXT TIME turn a DOORWAY into MURPHY STORAGE CABINET!! Use the space instead of wasting it!! That way you can re-use the door and create hidden storage and it doesn’t encroach upon your limited space!!
@@jbtpa895 no all the bathrooms were unfortunately done over in a modern style that had zero to do with a house from the 1920’s. there is one bathroom in the house with pink tiles that is original.
OK if you look at your place, it’s monochromatic everything is brown and beige. Is this forever your style are you ever going to put color in somewhere?
Yes, it’s almost (but not quite) a Zorn palette which does not use blue. I’m sure Drew will get out of his comfort zone. Our tastes change as we mature. I don’t know how old you are but I remember the 1970s when everyone had similar paint colours on their walls. I think it has given me an aversion to browns and magnolias 😂 It’s an age thing. I suppose being an interior designer, means you would have to use whatever is in fashion and is readily available to buy from the large diy stores, and whatever the buyers are trying to punt to the consumer.
You are so beautifully talented.I would have liked to see the first colour you chose for the cabinet.I loved everything except the second colour choice!Sorry! But what a transformation!Well done!😊
Hmm, the only bad thing about removing the door from the hall is, if you have someone staying in the guest room, Marie has to go through their private space to use the bathroom.
Lovely makeover but it would have made more sense to extend the bathroom into the laundry room so that there is access to the whole house and not just through the guest room. Now when Marie wants to use the bathroom when you have guests staying in that room she is invading their privacy to use the bathroom.
@@m.m.6670 I'm old enough to remember that my grandma didn't have a bathroom. Was a loo in the backyard and a wash using a bowl in the kitchen sink. During the night, you used a bucket for a pee 😱🤣.
Using one medium for the walls and shower is such a brilliant trick for making the room seem larger. And I didn't think I would like there being a visible transition where the tile used to be, but it actually breaks up the spaces in a really subtle way.
I completely forgot to share the sealing of the tile floor and the walls! You actually use the same exact product for both (just a good quality stone sealer) and roll it on with a roller. It adds an additional waterproof barrier and literally repels the water!

Wow.... the brass aging and plaster product for the walls is a game changer.
My FIL uses diapers! LOL
@@Jessa8891OMG……so funny! My first interpretation to “uses diapers” was he wears them. I thought why is she telling everybody?
@@lindafrance9192 😂😂😂
Love the candle stick holder on top of the toilet.
Why am I like that??🙄
I can say I was bothered by that also (maybe not to the point of obsessing though…..lol).
This is so ingenious. This is even cheaper than painting with tile paint primer and white paint. Thanks for the awesome idea. The outdated tile in our bathroom is in desperate need of a revamp. 🙏
I love everything! The light fixture, the floor, the mirror, the hardware .... But the sink/vanity it so perfectly perfect! I love it!
I just can’t get over your ability to transform a space!
Absolutely beautiful. What talent. Rock the block bring him on.Tired of same designers designing these paces. Get on board people spread the word.
Your final design was of course beautiful as well
I never knew about the plaster! its genius and of course another beautiful project by Drew!!
This is a really nice makeover, you do some fine work and are really talented!
FANTASTIC! Love this!
Fantastic renovation, you are so talented!!
This is stunning! We’re just about to embark on a similar project, although only 32sq ft, and this aesthetic is exactly what I’m hoping to achieve.. thank you thank you, thank you Drew, between you & macenna, you’re bringing my home to life!
Impressive job. Love the product you use and this transition. Beautiful bathroom.
Another brilliant way to mask tile! Gorgeous and fits in so well with the house now.
Love the carpet that you showed while antiquing the brass!!! I want. Also love the antiqued brass. The finished bathroom is effing gorgeous. You are my new favorite. Nothing is overdone. Love your style. What an artist!
What an inspiration you are, Drew! This is the solution I needed for our bathroom to avoid redoing all the drywall 😍😍😍🌟
(That hanging shelf unit is pretty but of limited function.)
I’m so glad you change the vanity color. The brown looks more like your style especially for a Spanish home.
Did you have to do anything special to the concrete so that it sticks to the tile? How long should this last?? So Beautiful!
I love the cutting drywall barefoot and demoing in slides and Birkenstocks.. they’re so awesome and make this all look so effortless
So excited loved the transformation so much!
Love this. I think a brass flush handle would look great on the toilet.
There is nothing else to say: you have the magic touch.😊
Amazing and elegant transformation! It looks so rich, warm and expensive!
DREW-NEXT TIME turn a DOORWAY into MURPHY STORAGE CABINET!! Use the space instead of wasting it!! That way you can re-use the door and create hidden storage and it doesn’t encroach upon your limited space!!
There are so many so many wow moments in this makeover! Love your music choices, too.
Loove the transformation!! Awesome job like always!!
Only thing that bothered me : You put the toiletpaper roll the wrong way around 😂🙈
I NOTICED THAT TOO LOL!
@@lonefox Hope you fixed it then, you can't let Marie use it like that 😂
That’s so funny as that was what immediately went through my head!!!
@@lindafrance9192 hahaha seems like I'm not the only one then 😂
I love the warmth of wood in a bathroom. Beautiful.
Are the walls rough? Will it collect dust?
Will the shower walls be easy to clean?
my question as well. I'm guessing a scrubbing brush instead of cloth/sponge?
Beautiful! Lots of hard work.
You two did an awesome job.
Congrats on the AD article.
amazing. what the previous owners did to the bathroom was a sin. this product is incredible. my bathroom needs this.
I think the house is very old and that was the original tile.
I really wish i knew what the original bathroom looked like before the white subway tile :/
@@jbtpa895 no all the bathrooms were unfortunately done over in a modern style that had zero to do with a house from the 1920’s. there is one bathroom in the house with pink tiles that is original.
@@lonefox taking a cue from the remaining pink bathroom probably very similar, but they often would use another color tile, pale yellow, pale green.
BEAUTIFUL!!! You really have outdone yourself I love how it went from being so cold and bland to so warm and beautiful and just stunning
I have a white house in and out. No colors at all. I hate colors.
There's a butt load of rooms in that house. And more bathrooms. She just chose that one because of the size of it.
So Drew...will the "Brass Antiquing" hack work as such on Chrome items to make them appear aged, as well? 🤔 ❤
Omg i love it so much!!!! It’s giving luxurious Camelot vibes❤️ Changing the vanity color was the right choice and just completely elevated it!
Lovely makeover but it would have made more sense to extend the bathroom into the laundry room so that there is access to the whole house and not just through the guest room. Now when Marie wants to use the bathroom when you have guests staying in that room she is invading their privacy to use the bathroom.
Your talent is beyond words. I am tearing up at the reveal!!! You are absolutely phenomenal!!!!
I laughed. Next time, turn the water off and flush the toilet. No scooping
I'm so over gray bathrooms and kitchens. This is so much warmer and inviting. Great job
45 ft sq 'small' bathroom 🤣. The average size of a bathroom in the 🇬🇧 is about 8ft sq at a push. I think ours is about 6ft x 7ft.
6ft x 7ft is a 42 square foot bathroom! Mine is only 6.5 x 7ft lol
8sqm is roughly the same as 42 sqft
@@lonefox I don't feel as jealous now 🤣🤣🤣👍.
