This is a perfect example of several things: (1) sometimes you have to live in a space to truly understand how it does, or does not, work for you (2) sometimes you have to build your skill set to take on a large project, and (3) sometimes you have to just move forward and learn as you go. Mistakes will be made and things will be learned. And a beautiful and useful space will occur.

@@nancyanneberg403 It can go either way depending upon the situation and space and the person. I agree that you can often find a better solution if you take your time and look at your options.

✨💖✨exactly true. And sometimes your needs change. You use a space for certain things, and then kids grow up and move away. You don’t need the storage for so many little coats and boots. Things change. Needs change. Maybe you don’t really need so many coats and boots. And more importantly, you skills grow. As you noted. Useful spaces will evolve and grow as you use a space.

Hi Danny! I am a woodworker and have done lots of architectural furniture! And yes, when working in old houses that are absolutly not leveled we build the cabinet a bit smaller, up to one inch on each side, then fill the gap with wood pieces and hide it with trims.

This is a wonderful outcome but I feel your pain! I’m so impressed that you continued on and got the doors installed. Truth be told, I would have decided that I love the open look of the storage, I could still see my beautiful mural, the whole thing is painted such a great color and it looks wonderful with my mural and it’s a back door so no one else will see it and it’ll be easier to access everything without those *#@+#$ doors! But still you persisted and you overcame. You should be very proud of what you accomplished. It is all beautiful and looks completely custom.🌸

100% also would have given up on the doors. Although my rationale would have been, "I'll live with it for a while. I can always add the doors later." And the doors would then live in the basement forever.

This could not have been more perfect timing. My husband and I demo’d our bedroom closet and I wanna go for a built in look. Thank you for the inspo and encouragement that we can do it!!

Great attitude to have. Do not beat yourself up about the doors. You are so brave to even start AND complete this job. Way more brave than I could be 💖💖 it turned out beautiful!

I appreciate that you keep your self-motivation talks in the videos. Just this weekend, I was also telling myself "No complaining, just start solving it." The more we're reminded to accept the twists and turns, the easier it is to remain positive and not waste time. :) Thanks for both your realism and your positivity.
