The python bought me every other ship I own. I learned about HIP 8444 on Reddit. I was still in a type 6 at that point. I spent a few days grinding straight up to a python. I went down to 8444, and had trading elite by the end of the week. And a Cutter.
And you know, the obscene cost difference? Lol mining has skewed all these frame of references. He kinda nailed it in his Asp x video. The Cobra, the Asp and the python were just straight up better for a long time at their price point. Like, when you are grinding you don't have money for an Anaconda for hauling. And you must likely can't afford 2 primary ships. So a ship that can do literally everything better or marginally worse then specialized ships for the same price point is gonna be the reason you buy it. The Anaconda used to be prohibitively expensive when they insta nerfed huge money making schemes. Then along comes core and panite mining to shift our frame of reference so we choke back the carrier costs.

Remember kids dont do drugs. This is the highest hauling ship in the game that can land at a small space station getting the best deals. The cheapest place to buy Python is Li Yong Rui powerplay space. Save credits play better.

The Python is a swiss army knife. Its the ship you get when you want to do everything. If I had to sell all my other ships and keep one, it would be the Python.
I had to think about this. At first I agreed with you, but after a while, I came to the conclusion that the Anaconda was a better choice for my only ship scenario. I have a lot of money tied up in ships, and I've flown them all at one time or another. I originally used my python for combat, until I could afford an anaconda. I used my python for exploration for a long time. I bought a krait phantom to use for exploration and it's now my dedicated exploration ship. I use the python for doing rescue missions now. I used it for grinding a ton of Federal and Imperial rank, as well as getting rep for smaller factions. For combat, I have a Vulture, a krait mkII, a FDL, and a corvette. For mining, I use an anaconda and sometimes a cutter. For trading I use a cutter. For doing in bubble exploring and chasing degraded emissions and that sort of thing, I have a clipper, which is my favorite hot rod. I have a viper set up for going to guardian sites to grind for materials. I'm currently setting up a type-10 for going after thargoids, but might switch to another ship for that role.
@@therealstubot The Anaconda is very good and like you, I have just about every ship and each one has a dedicated task or role. Out of all the ships, the Python (and in some cases the Krait) can do just about everything very well. The Anaconda is basically the large version of the Python with the only downside being its size. Too big for outpost and its an easy target.
Corvette can do everything too. It has the agility, strength, internals, hardpoints. It’s just awkward. Except exploring, but exploring isn’t really doing anything
@@greenthunder1000 The corvette jump range is complete crap and its really slow. Yes, it's nimble, has lots of shields, armor and internal space. So the corvette can do everything as long as everything is combat. Don't get me wrong, I love my corvette, it's hands down the most awesome combat ship I own. But doing trading with it? Or exploration? Never. I might try mining with mine though, if I could bring myself to dismantle the architecture of death I've constructed. Even mining requires a lot of jumping, and I would not look forward to that. But it would be sweet bumping around in the rocks.
@@greenthunder1000 The Corvette is a bit on the slow side and can be outmatched in firepower by the Conda. Shields are weaker than the Cutter. Armor lower than the Conda. Jump range is the lowest of all the big ships. It's really built for combat.
Love your video, though I disagree with your closing statement, it is an amazing ship, yes for the late game player it's not useful, but for the one starting out it's amazing, you said youd rather haul in an Anaconda and fight in a Krait, but that's because you have enough money to outfit both of those ships, what if you dont? You start out with a Python, you can do it all and earn enough money to specialize your fleet and then the Python becomes a paperweight. I haul and mine in a Cutter. I fight in a Corvette. I explore/do errands like engineering and materials in an Anaconda I deepcore in a Python until I find something better, that's all I use my Python for now, I used to use it for everything, until I got better ships for each job. The Python got me my fleet, if anything I feel like that's its role. Oh yeah, next ship? The eagle, imperial eagle or Vulture.
It's still very usefull because it's medium with a large cargo and weapon capabilities, so if you need to do missions or cg's where the best option would be to dock at an outpost, you'll be glad you have that python.
I too am feeling this. I still have my python, but it's a stripped back runner. If I need to take mission cargo to an outpost I'll generally use my python for that. No weapons, heavy shields, but due to the weapon removal I can downgrade the power plant too. For it's size it really shifts! And it runs cool (illegal salvage anyone...?)
I use a type 10 for deep core... I'm late game. And I'm finally outfitting a python. For strictly gathering mats. It's gotta do some combat. A moon buggy, and surface mining. As well a full compliment of sensors... I can't find a better smaller ship to do the job. And my krait is an anti xeno
Yup. My Python built my fleet pretty much as well. Love that ship so much. It was a huge jump in power once i got it. And it hauled the money in cause it could do everything I needed until I got better ships for each role.
Does anyone else hear "The Y-wing is the work horse of the rebel fleet. It's not quick or flashy but it gets the job done..." in their heads when listening to this guy?
I do deep core mining, and I've tried a lot of ships for it, including the Conda, both Kraits, the Cutter and the Python and honestly I prefer the Python to anything, the Conda and Cutter are too bulky and the Krait just doesn't match the Python in optional internals. I never really need to fight off pirates when I'm mining, I just put full pips into shields and completely ignore the shots hitting my ship because generally after a few seconds police will start warping in and take out the guy. The Python has the option of equipping a size 6 shield gen and matching a shieldless Krait in optional slots. Python ftw!
Pythons helped me get my Anaconda, my two Corvetts, my other Python and my Cutter, and i still use it sometimes for mining or missions to outposts. In short, the Python built my fleet! I use a Krait sometimes but its certainly not my favorite ship for anything. Nowdays im usually in one of my Corvetts mining or fighting, unless i need to use my ASP Explorer to do.... well exploring of course!
I've got mine set up as a deep core miner. Abrasion blaster and seismic charge launcher in the medium hard points to crack asteroids. 192 cargo space to store all those shiny void opals and low temperature diamonds... and 3 large hard points to tell pirates where they can shove their demands. ;) I love my Python. In it I can transport >300 million in cargo... with a smile.
A while ago I bought a krait, and through a series of bad decisions, was unable to pay the insurance. After coming back I've bought the Python instead, and could not be happier with it, I've never felt safer in a fight with an agile ship.
I finally bought my Python the other night. And for someone who loves bouncing around from combat and trading roles, this thing is perfect and it doesn't break the bank. I named mine The Red Shadow and she's going to aid me in getting my ticket punched to Jameson Memorial.
A tad disingenuous in my opinion. It's been stated in the comments here already and I'll say it again; the Python is single handedly the king of Background Simulation work or just general mission running and even material collection for engineering. No other ship in the game offers the survivability and multi-mission capability of a Python while being able to also land on medium pads. The only other ship that comes close is the Cobra Mk IV but even with engineering that ship makes the Python look like a race car. The Python certainly has its flaws, that is for certain but if your play style is to fly one ship and you don't like refitting often; you can't find better versatility than a Python in this pilots opinion.
@@ClarksonNo1 I am saying this as a person who prefers Krait. The extra module slot really makes Python more suitable for a general all in one build. Plus you don't have to worry about finding a slot for the fighter bay you gained by sacrificing armor. If it's cockpit was centered like Krait's i'd probably fit myself a python for general use and traverse the galaxy with no worries.
I also wondered what my python was good for (other than smuggling into stations with only medium pads) Then Frontier released the new mining patch. And there it was - the Python shines as probably the best mining ship out there with more than enough cargo space and hardpoints for mining equipment and still 2 large weapons for fending off pirates This thing is a beast for mining. She’s the king of queens. The monte cristco
I concur. I use my conda for just about everything, exploring, trading, hauling stuff. But my trusty python handles the mining, and handles it very very well. For as big as she is, she is a nimble beast.
I have my Python aptly named Sisyphus (The Greek king doomed to push a boulder uphill for eternity), she is kitted out pretty much exactly as you described, and, as a deep core miner, she easily hauls in over a hundred million credits per load
The Python is the ultimate smuggler's machine. Its handling, cargo capacity, and ability to land on platforms makes it king in my mind for that kind of work. So--still very much a viable machine.
Two words... core mining. Plenty of power, decent laden range, maneuverable and small enough for the tight spots, all the slots for the necessary modules with lots of cargo space left over. All that and it fits on a medium pad.
Your videos remind me of the old Top Gear, specifically the Clarkson segments, where it is just him talking about a car he is reviewing. Great work, can't wait to see more from you!
I would disagree. The Mk.II can roll to fit between the pieces ant its movement factor makes maneuvering around them much easier. Also its short hull allows for more space in between the pieces. If you'd be talking about laser mining then sure. But core mining?
When I started playing E:D years ago, the Python was my dream ship almost entirely because of how it looks. The green and gray plus the sleek yet angular hull drew me in. After getting it, I did some hauling and light combat before I got bored of E:D. Now I've gotten back into the game and decided not have a one-size-fits-all with my Python, but build a fleet like many do. For now the Python is sitting pretty in a hangar, but I know I will find a reason to bust it out again some day (for fighting or hauling or smuggling or bounty hunting or who knows what). I just think it's too pretty and I love how it can do so many things, even if it's not the best at any particular thing--that's the point of a multipurpose ship anyway. For someone like me who isn't a min/maxer, the Python is a very loveable ship, whether you use it for just one thing or it really is your jack of all trades.
The Python is, by far, my most flown ship with the Conda right behind. After flying around in the Krait though... Gotta say I still love my Python. You never forget your first love. Great video, man !
Your home station claxon sounds! The station is gonna blow. You're sprinting for the docks to lift off, you can only save one ship, the rest are gonna burn with the station. If we ignore the monetary value of the big three I suspect most of us are lifting off in a Python.
Like so many other’s, the King Python built my fleet. It’s even in combat and better at cargo, mining, passenger running etc. The only thing it doesn’t do exceptionally well is exploration. But a cheap DBX can take care of that.
Such a difficult question these days. Stripped out for exploration 27.58. Engineered FSD and a Guardian Booster 54. Add an srv, less. Engineer it more for weight reduction, more. It’s capable for close to the sphere and unlocking engineers and jumping through the guardian tech missions but a DBX would be better for that and cheap. For deep space I use a Krait Phantom. A bit pricey but fully kitted and moderately engineered, including SRV, shield and usable thrusters (I hate when my ships fly like turds just for a few ly) I get 62 ly and 430 m/s boost. It also allows me to take a weight hit on the power plant. 3A Reinforced vs a 2A Guardian. You can’t repair you power plant in deep space.
@@jml7916 Thats impressive, I didnt think it would be that high. I am relatively new to ED so I havent done the Guardian upgrades yet. Already hate grinding for mats for engineers....
I love my python. My career so far has gone Sidewinder, Hauler, Adder, Cobra iii, AspX, and then Python, doing mining with all of them. I've been doing some trading with the python recently tho. It will be the flagship of my fleet for a long time.
My Python has become my deep core mining vessel. Two medium hard points for the seismic charge launcher and abrasion blaster, three large for weapons. Enough room for 192t of cargo with all the equipment I need to find, collect and refine. It's nimble, tough and roomy with the bite to deter pirates. I guess what I'm trying to say is that mining is role I feel this ship was born for. Sure, I could use a Krait Mk.II, but when I'm already using the Krait Phantom as my exploration vessel it makes a nice change of scenery when switching roles.
I have 3 of them. One for mining, one for Passengers in Ribino, and one for rescue missions from bases being attacked by Thargoids. I never do combat in it. I use the FDL and Corvette for that. Keep up the good work! I enjoy your take on the different ships. I'm always looking for a new ship build!
Great and I mean great videos. Your voice is like butter, you should be a radio announcer. As other comments have stated keep the political jokes out of these videos, we play these games to escape the day to day B.S.. Thank you very much for your time and commitment.
I started out in elite 3 months ago and find myself relistening to your videos while traveling to think about my ship collection. Love it and thank you for so poetically and honestly describing ships. So yeah, glad I invested in Krait mk 2 and anaconda. Good balance there.
I used the Python extensively when I was still making my up the Federation ranks and taking any mission I could get my hands on for experience, rep, materials and credits. Now that I'm an established Commander with a respectable bank account and fleet of ships at my disposal I find I don't have a place for it. I respect the Python but I too have ships I prefer to use for each of the various mission types. So while the Python is fantastic as your first "high dollar", top shelf medium capable of handling any task you set it too (with a little module swapping) there are ships capable of doing it better as a true specialist for any of those tasks.
Hi, solo Elite Dangerous player here (and player of Elite since C64). I've been watching your vids with a nice cup of tea this evening (nice work and subbed btw) after clicking on your youtube channel after seeing it over on Down to Earth Astronomy (excellent channel). I've got to comment here because.. I love the Python! I'll tell you why.. I've earned oodels of cr's in the Python.. literally. At present i'm travelling back to the bubble in my Asp Explorer sitting on over 2.25 billion cr's and owner of every ship in the game (though most need outfitting and engineering) and the Python has earned me the bulk of my ships, equipment and cr's because of what it CAN do. My Python carries 160 tonnes and can land on medium sized landing zones which means I can run multiple delivery missions earning up to 14mil for one single mission in short jump ranges.. I found a little spot where I can earn billions this way and well, I did... and I did it all in my Python. Brilliant ship! "No one needs to fly one"? I wouldn't have been without one! Edit: I'll still use it when i'm in the bubble.
i love how you described this thing, and i love the history behind it. its easily my favorite ship in elite. i dont use the krait bc i like to have my options open, if you mod it out correctly, you can do everything without having to switch out any of the optional internals. you can go from using it as trading vessel, to exploring, and then suddenly finding yourself in a duel against another commander, whos flying a fer de lance. most people would put their money on the fer de lance. but back when the meta was particle accelerator all the time (it was when i was playing) i used the python with a different loadout... double barrel frags, and i cant recall ever losing against a fer de lance using PA's in a 1v1 fight. whenever i see an imperial clipper or a federal assault ship flying around (other cmdrs) i see it as easy pickings for me, but i cant seem to lose against them. i havent fought a krait mkII yet and quite frankly, i cant bring myself to get back into the game to give it a try.
Could you possibly put your Python build (specifically the one where you show the internals at 2:15) in the description of this video or in the reply to my comment please? I'm just interested is maintaining that jump range on a combat build.
I loved my Python it's stylish and functional, then I got an Anaconda for cargo a Krait for general purpose and a challenger for combat and I no longer needed my Python. But look at how many ships it took to fill the roll, Pythons are awesome ships for the commander who's just starting out. Can you review the Keelback, don't know why but I just love the look of it, I use mine as a mining ship and it's made me more credits than all my other ships put together. Congratulations on the 1000 subs.
Got mine recently. I like my little Red Python. It hauls cargo, passengers, and can lazer mine like a champ. Just a great all rounder. The Krait MK 2 is better for combat, piracy, and exploration. The Python is better for moving things.
I love that the game really focuses on player flying ability, rather than, 'this player has better equipment so they'll win every time'. Sure, a ship's equipment plays a major part, but in the end, a bad pilot will lose to a good pilot every time, regardless of ship or equipment. That's how these types of games should be.
I have mine set up as an armed cargo hauler with SRV. It has the firepower, shield, armour, jumprange and biggest cargo for doing any mission in the bubble. Just jumping around accepting stuff as i like, best ship!
The python is my daily driver because it can do everything I'd want it to do without changing more than 1 or 2 modules. Haul 96 tons for a mission while still knocking down the 3 pirates the mission sends at you while still being fun to fly and kill in while being the best multirole ship ever. When you become an artist with a Swiss army knife, you are truly free.
When I first started in elite, before I realized I could look up guides on youtube...this was THE ship for me. It was my absolute goal to achieve ownership of a Python. When I saw one for the first time in a low Combat Zone, it honestly made me feel like a small fish staring at a predator. And now that I have one, I've never stopped loving it. And although the Anaconda is objectively the better ship...I just can't stop loving the Python.
I should be in game, but I am here watching the 8th video of yours in a row! :) These are freaking awesome - well shot, well narrated, not long. Appreciate the work you put into these @pilot - thank you! PS - love the term pocket-Anaconda.
The Python definitely still has a good niche role as a mission running ship. It can handle more cargo than the Krait and can land at the outpost stations where so many missions take you (unlike the Anaconda). It's a superb armed merchantmen. My "merchant" Python regularly massacres the pirate anacondas that try to interdict me during missions (for extra bounties and engineering materials). It's also a great choice (build slightly differently) for evacuating starports. For combat and core mining, I prefer the Krait Mk2 but honestly, the Python's not bad either. I consider both to be some of the best balanced ships in the game and own more than one of each. Like the Anaconda, the Python's got excellent flexibility.
In all honesty, the one thing I use my Python for is completing trade CG's that require delivery at a medium landing platform. It's not a Lakon so I can't say I love it but it serves the purpose I need it to.
Honestly... yes, I could get an Anaconda for my trading or mining, or a Clipper. *_But I don't WANT to._* For both those things, I have a Python fitted for the job. The hardpoints, being able to easily get 272 tons of cargo space out of it while still being medium-sized - I just really love my two Pythons. No way am I gonna trade those in for bigger ships.
This video has made me want to pick up a Python, when I get to that point. If nothing else, just to have it as a backbone multipurpose workhorse for my fleet. ... but it also did get me to very strongly consider a Krait.
Just discovered your channel. Im blown away! How can you only have ~400 subs!? Please continue doing these vids! They are amayzing! Btw: How about a video on the Asp?
I own both. The Krait was my go to for combat missions with light multirole capability, and it wrecked has-res siyes and chased acobdrels across the sector. The python became my indusstrial workhorse, a miner and trader, but with enough weapons to defend itself.
Great video, CMDR! Really enjoying your content. That being said, political jabs really cheapen a good video. I am in no way a Trump supporter, but the anti Trump "comedy" really doesn't belong in an Elite video. I'm here for the ship reviews, not political opinion. Plus it's 3305, man! Talking about 2019 politics really breaks my immersion...lol. Seriously though, keep up the good work. Looking forward to more ship reviews! o7
Outgrew mine, but when I had it, I used it for everything, trading, bounty hunting, smuggling. Gave it a neon paint job, named it the "Patrick Nagel Overdrive". Fell in love with it so hard I couldn't bear to sell it when I bought a new ship, at a time when to me, every credit mattered.
Designed be Watt and Pritney!? I love how that’s just mentioned once in ED law, it’s an easter egg hardly anyone will ever notice, let alone understand.
It's the best thing that can happen to a new player. It can fight, it can haul freight or passengers; it can mine, it can do everything but explore well.
Just discovered your channel about a week ago and have been hooked on watching them, so much so that I subscribed. Never felt the need to comment though until this one. If I could give some advice for Future videos, Please leave ANY Political Views out of your videos. That is just way to much of a HOT button right now and It really should be left out. You really bring the excitement into owning what ever ship your doing a video on but then I was immediately disassociated as soon as you mentioned " Lighting Donald Trump on fire " thing. Gaming should be an escape from it all.
Some CMDR pirates that killed me back when I still cared a lot about getting killed flew this ship, so I developed a strong aversion. I avoided getting if for a long time, but a few months back I finally bought it. For what? BGS manipulation. Python is a medium pad ship that can be configured for vast variety of missions without having to swap modules. So if I just want to chain missions to support a faction for a hour or two, Python is the best ship.
I have a Python decked out for deep core mining. It's perfect for it. 192 units of cargo, 2 seismic charge launchers close to center line, and abrasion blaster right on center, enough shields to take an absolute pounding from asteroids and pirates alike, decent jump range and still has room for 2 guns when I don't feel like de-assing the area just because some pirate wants my void opals.
You missed 4 words from your closing statement "Its a great ship that nobody needs.... EXCEPT DEEP CORE MINERS" No other ship can top deep core mining than a python. PERIOD!!!
John Vanderbeck more cargo space and therefore less time travelling and more time mining. Also with more shields and hull mean when running from pirates, you’re more likely to live. And it’s still manoeuvrable enough to do the core mining
@@LordHeartNight The Phantom is also faster which helps get between rocks when you are spending a lot of time searching, and honestly cargo space isn't my issue. I have plenty of space to go out and spend an hour or two in the rings. If anything the weak spot of my Phantom is that I have no way of fighting back if I get attacked. All I can do is run.
@@JohnVanderbeck The speed is marginal and its only noticable if you decide to go running around with your cargo hatch open That said with a decent distributor, you can still power 2 long rang beam lasers on 2 pips in weapons so you could fight off NPCs off ok But then, if you meet a human pilot, fighting isnt ever an option in the first place
I bought mine specifically to ferry criminal masterminds from Robigo Mining to Sirius Atmospherics. With the amount of passenger cabins, I can make up to 20m per round trip :)
I can use the mk2 for this....anaconda for that....phantom for that too..... Here's the argument, what you failed to highlight on. The Python is not the very best at everything. It is just among the best at everything. That's the difference. Fastest? No. Most combat capable? No. Most cargo space? No. But it does the job well on every front, that's versatility a lot of ships don't have.
I love my Python. I will never sell it off for anything else. Now I love it even more for its legacy. You truly love something when you don't mind its faults.
Just like I never sold my Type 6, and I bought back my Hauler, they have their uses, but the Type 9 and the DBX do their jobs better. I do like flying them every now and again though
First ship I fully upgraded and engineered, the best medium sized all-rounder and easy to change its loadout to bias it for what you need it for. I like the Krait but it's more a heavy fighter than an all-rounder, that Class 6 slot is too valuable to lose. However, when I fully upgraded and engineered my Conda, that's the ship I fly.
I have such complicated feelings about this ship. I ground my way to my Python, the Nightwind, fairly quickly, thanks to one of Hawkes Gaming's guides. I was so stoked to get it. And yet, I find it a hard ship to love. I don't like how it handles, and my one experience taking it into combat was deeply unsatisfactory. Admittedly, that was very early on, and between experience I've gained fitting ships plus engineering, I'm sure I could make it brilliant in combat, but what's the point, with an Anaconda and FDL in my hangar. The more play, the less I fly this ship. And yet...without her, I would have none of it. No 'conda, no FDL, no Phantom. It is exactly what Hawkes always claims it to be: An express ticket to vast interstellar riches, in almost any way that strikes your fancy. To this day, if I need credits, this ship provides, tirelessly, without issue or pause, whether it's deep core mining or Robigo-Sothis passenger runs. I may not love it, but I respect it immensely. The Pilot called the Anaconda the foundations of an empire, but I'm not sure I agree. I feel like the Anaconda and her large sisters, the Cutter and Corvette, are the shining towers of your personal empire, but I think the Python is the true foundation. In the early to mid-game, it gets what you need, however you need to get it. And that flexibility is what truly makes the Python your springboard to the endgame ships
Good video, nice commentary. Leave the politics out next time. I used the Krait nowadays, becasue A E S T H E T I C S, but I made the money to BUY that Krait, with the Python. It's a great ship that I'm going to eventually add to my collection again, and I'll take it out exploring for old times sake.
I honestly LOVE my Python. I spend more time in it than any other ship I own. I mostly use it for mining in Anarchy systems, where pirates are plenty. But I've also used it for station rescues and exploration. Just engineering the FSD and the power plant will double it's jump range, and I can take it almost anywhere.
I had the same predicament regarding my Pythons role in my fleet after the Krait MK2 was released but I solved it. The Python is one hell of a mining ship!

That closing statement should come with the caveat that the python is the greatest ship that nobody needs... assuming they have 143m+ credits to buy and outfit an anaconda. Considering it carries more cargo than any other ship of its size, can land on any station and costs 1/3rd of a conda, there's more than a reason to use it right there. The python is the best medium-sized trader, while also being fantastic at everything else you make it do besides exploring. This ship gets beat by the conda assuming the person actually has enough money to buy a conda, at which point why are we even comparing it. Might as well say no one needs a type-9 since the imperial cutter exists.
I did use the Python A LOT! It did own me the money to buy and equip my Conda lol After doing everything with the conda for a while i wanted a agile bountyhunter with a fighter and got a krait and it is great. Python is now my deep core miner and with all the shit it got me through... passenger runs, first trys in mining, trading, shooting pirates buttoxes away... i still love to hop in just to fly around, it gives me some kind of nostalgia.
I had the same issue, actually. I just couldn't bring myself to use the Python as a miner. I'd remember how awesome it was, and feel...gross. So it sits in my hangar. Like I said, it's a great ship. I just don't need it.

"This is a tank, moonlighting as a delivery van" LMAO!!
I explore/do errands like engineering and materials in an Anaconda
I deepcore in a Python until I find something better, that's all I use my Python for now, I used to use it for everything, until I got better ships for each job.
The Python got me my fleet, if anything I feel like that's its role.
Oh yeah, next ship? The eagle, imperial eagle or Vulture.
Could not agree more. My Python built my fleet and ranks.
This... This is what a top comment is supposed to look like.
Yes! I freaking loved that game, and he absolutely has the vibe of the Rogue Squadron ship select voiceover guy!
HERESY! .. PYTHON IS LIFE + better than kraits anyhow
I was waiting for this comment
I'm with Yamiks on this one. I still "like" the Krait, but the Python will always be King.
If you could stop playing with your "pocket sized Anaconda," that'd be kraaiittttt.
I like theYamicks but I’m with the pilot on this one... he’s the Jeramy Clackson of the Elite universe ☝️
Python ftw!
Python made credits for my Anaconda ... ;)
I ll literally farmed for my python with my krait. And I m not sure hat it means.

I've build mine as my first real mining ship. It's a lot of fun in that regard and a hold full of void opals is a really nice cash-in.
That's fair. For me, it just felt wrong to use the ship for mining. But I totally understand how it could be an epic miner.
"I can't give you a good reason to buy it now"
Three words: Robigo. Passenger. Missions.
"this is a tank moonlighting as a delivery van" i love this guys' analogies lol
I did enjoy the video, by the way. Looking forward to more content. :)
Krait does all of that with more damage and better jump range though.
I agree with you. If you don't want to refit often it's perfect.

My first medium ship. Used it 4 minig. It made me a literal fortune.
,,Because phyton is great ship that no one need" 😢 that's hit hard bro
I've always thought of the Python as a large ship in a medium ship's body.
I also wondered what my python was good for (other than smuggling into stations with only medium pads)
Then Frontier released the new mining patch.
And there it was - the Python shines as probably the best mining ship out there with more than enough cargo space and hardpoints for mining equipment and still 2 large weapons for fending off pirates
This thing is a beast for mining. She’s the king of queens. The monte cristco
I concur. I use my conda for just about everything, exploring, trading, hauling stuff. But my trusty python handles the mining, and handles it very very well. For as big as she is, she is a nimble beast.
I have my Python aptly named Sisyphus (The Greek king doomed to push a boulder uphill for eternity), she is kitted out pretty much exactly as you described, and, as a deep core miner, she easily hauls in over a hundred million credits per load
curious in your opionion here: what makes you feel like the python is better than the krait at mining?
@@JamesOfKS It has an extra class 6 optional internal, which allows you to use it for cargo, and opens up the other slots for more limpets etc
Don't you feel just a little bad using it as a miner though? I know I did.
Your videos remind me of the old Top Gear, specifically the Clarkson segments, where it is just him talking about a car he is reviewing.
Great work, can't wait to see more from you!
He...may be an influence. ;-)
If only Clarkson knew as much about auto engineering as he does about sneering sarcasm.
Python is the BEST core miner - that's why I own it; despite owning a phantom, anaconda and cutter which you suggest might invalidate it's need.
The phantom is not a miner lmao
The mk2 is the core miner, not the phantom. The phantom is pure explorer, it sucks at everything else
I would disagree. The Mk.II can roll to fit between the pieces ant its movement factor makes maneuvering around them much easier. Also its short hull allows for more space in between the pieces. If you'd be talking about laser mining then sure. But core mining?
Shame, because it’s the best looking ship in the game!

@@joaogomes9405 the adder and hauler are both shoes, the python is a dagger
The mamba, the adder, the kraits. There's a body kit for the python that makes it look like a sprawling platypus.
Reasons I, a noob, want to buy python:
1. it looks cool
2. back to number 1
_The Kraitest Thing_
Why are the ship names always so good.
oh there all called the kraitest thing.
Your home station claxon sounds! The station is gonna blow. You're sprinting for the docks to lift off, you can only save one ship, the rest are gonna burn with the station. If we ignore the monetary value of the big three I suspect most of us are lifting off in a Python.
You still shadow banning people on this video?
The Python is THE ship, to get you to all those other ships.
Like so many other’s, the King Python built my fleet. It’s even in combat and better at cargo, mining, passenger running etc. The only thing it doesn’t do exceptionally well is exploration. But a cheap DBX can take care of that.
Whats the jump range?

Don't buy 1,,,buy 2. I did. Yeah i love my Conda and Vette, but Pythons are the workhorse of the Medium landing pad.
I bought 3 lol 😆 😅

I use type 10 for that... It's my middle finger to thieves.
@@emilyhofland8219 lol i sacrificed half the cargo and threw in a fighter bay on the keelback makes it good for short safe mining trips
I can only describe the Python as a stepping stone and a workhorse in one. It'll get you there, wherever you go, whatever you do.
*_But I don't WANT to._*
For both those things, I have a Python fitted for the job.

Some CMDR pirates that killed me back when I still cared a lot about getting killed flew this ship, so I developed a strong aversion. I avoided getting if for a long time, but a few months back I finally bought it. For what? BGS manipulation. Thank you!
I've had Kraits, FDLs, Condas, Cutters, Clippers, Gunships. I keep coming back to the the Python. 'Nuff said.
For a person who doesn't like having 15 ships across the galaxy, this one sounds right up my alley, thank you for the review
You missed 4 words from your closing statement
"Its a great ship that nobody needs.... EXCEPT DEEP CORE MINERS"
No other ship can top deep core mining than a python. PERIOD!!!
I'm currently using a Phantom. What would the Python add to my mining?
John Vanderbeck more cargo space and therefore less time travelling and more time mining. Also with more shields and hull mean when running from pirates, you’re more likely to live. And it’s still manoeuvrable enough to do the core mining
This all said, whilst the phantom has no where the cargo space, it does compensate with increased jump range so it wouldn’t need to jump as much
@@LordHeartNight The Phantom is also faster which helps get between rocks when you are spending a lot of time searching, and honestly cargo space isn't my issue. I have plenty of space to go out and spend an hour or two in the rings. If anything the weak spot of my Phantom is that I have no way of fighting back if I get attacked. All I can do is run.
@@JohnVanderbeck The speed is marginal and its only noticable if you decide to go running around with your cargo hatch open
That said with a decent distributor, you can still power 2 long rang beam lasers on 2 pips in weapons so you could fight off NPCs off ok
But then, if you meet a human pilot, fighting isnt ever an option in the first place
No. But it does the job well on every front, that's versatility a lot of ships don't have.
lol, i have SEEN this video before and the outro STILL makes me nod in appreciation!
I love the python i just got it ! It reminds me of the ship in interstellar movie and its perfect !👏🏽👏🏽
See the pinned tweet.
@@ThePilot_ *shrug*
I don't see a pinned tweet anywhere
For the people that usually make the most jabs at Snowflakes, the slightest joke about Captain Toupe seems to trigger the hell out of them...
Hi, i have recently discover you channel Commander. I have to thank you for the quality of your videos from the voice up to the production.
Great job, flight safe.
Thank you very much.
225 Tonnes of cargo on a medium pad. Great for hauling in Colonia.
Just now realized that "Whatt&Pritney" comes from "Pratt & Whitney", one of the largest US jet engine manufacturers
I think everyone who plays ED should subscribe to you. The hard work that must go into creating these masterpieces is commendable. I was mesmerised. Thank you 🙏🏽
Dude your videos are and have been the best so far on UA-cam. Like it's basically you, obsidian ant, cmdr exegious and down to earth astronomy as the top imo.
Nice video, but my eyes bleed when I see your pips management in combat. Please, please put pips on systems when you under attack. XD.
I love the cozy cockpit lighting. It's not too bright.
