I’ve found that introducing a dg in a tank as the first fish is a bad idea. I’ve once kept one in a 20 gallon first, and since it was alone it wasn’t used to other fish and established the entire tank as it’s territory. The second I put platys in he began attacking them.

I thought Gouramis look nice so I've got some Pearl Gouramis. Hope your Neon Dwarf Gourami settles in well.

Sunburst platies would pop in that tank , and a green phantom pleco with a albino HOPLO CATFISH 👍

Any update on this tank or the gourami?
My experience with NEON DWARF GOURAMI. They are beautiful fish but I will never keep them again. They are VERY aggressive toward one another and when I introduced females at 4 females to one male, the males killed all of the females then the males went after each other until there was just one left. That tank now has 3 tips of tetras "Penguin" "Red Phantom" "Silver Tip" which used to be 3 schools but are now one merged school. Very cool. In the bottom I have 12 YoYo Loaches which are super active chasing around like a train.

Have you ever thought about Blue Acara’s? They are so cool and fun to watch. I’ve got a few with Oscars and Angel fish and they are pretty chill. Should be ok in a community tank as they don’t grow big also.
Get some neon tetras, cardinal tetra and others tetras and guppies
