I'm Shocked that this was the first one you had seen at your store, these are probably the most common Dwarf Gourami we have in Australian shops, Glorious looking Fish :)
For sure Colin they are very common In Cleveland as well….we used to have a bunch but they are angry little dudes and they seem to fight much more than the big gouramis that’s for sure…..also they don’t live nearly as long….these neons are absolutely gorgeous though Dan….you’ll enjoy him!
They might have been around for a while. I haven't even though about getting a DG for years. I was planning on a Powder Blue, but saw this first.
I agree with Jack and Dan that they are aggressive little pricks that don't live long. Lol

Great centerpiece fish, striking colors. Very colorful tankmates too with the pop from the platys and the multicolors of those endlers. I never noticed how colorful the endlers were until you did this close up video. Very nice tank!
I had one of these for my first centre piece fish in my community tank. We even had three girlfriends for him, but sadly we lost all the Gourami in quick succession to disease that didn’t affect any of the other fish. I still miss that guy as he had so much character. Some can be bossy or nippy, others like him just made his presence felt around the tank.
DG never seem to live long. I'm figuring if I get a year for my $10, I'll be happy.

He's a beautiful little guy. Unfortunately, as others have said, they tend to be genetically weak and commonly carry/fall ill to Dwarf Gourami Iridovirus. I hope he lasts and stays healthy for you, but if he does get sick, it shouldn't pass to any of your other fish. Good luck with him, gouramis of all kinds are my favorite fish. Hoping to get a few Moonlights for a larger tank, your videos on them inspired me!
He’s absolutely beautiful, really lovely 😊 I think he’s struggling a bit in that strong water flow though.

Thst is a good looking fish. I really like the color of the red wags also. I agree with what you said the other day. It would look cool with a few blue wags in there also.
