I’m shocked honestly, mine was VERY territorial.
Very risky hehehe... it really depends on the personality of the fish.
I think it helps if you put the betta in a strange tank full of fish & not vise-versa.
If you try putting new fish into the betta's tank it might not be so good for the new fish because the betta has already got his territory marked out....
Right and 20 gallons isn’t really that big 😂 I’m surprised too. My gold gourami is in a 40 gallon and still chases the corydoras around sometimes. He needs to chill out

i have 2 freshwater crabs, 2 dwarf gouramis, some guppes and a male betta all in the same 70L tank, they are actually super friendly to each other, they stay out of the way and live really peacefully which was a shock to me
Bruahhh I know this is late to say but Damnn if it was a shock to you why would you even do that knowing the temperaments 🤦♂️🤦♂️

I have my male plaket betta with 2 female dwarf gouramis and some guppies. The bettas individual temperament always plays a massive role. Had bettas in the past that can't be kept with ANYTHING😅
My Betta doesn't bother my gouramis and they don't bother him but my Betta and one of my platys are always trying to fight each other . No harm is ever done though . It''s hilarious to watch them both do the stare down .
You see my betta doesn’t have a problem with my two honey gouramis the thing is they have a problem with each other. The larger one keeps nipping and chasing the smaller one I’m thinking of returning them as I have heard that betas like to be alone, what do you think?
I love gouramis!!! They have so much personality. Betta fish too, but I like the way gouramis swim. They r more graceful the way they swim.

It really depends on the fish I have a full grown pearl gourami with a beta imbellis and 15 ember tetra and dwarf shrimp in a HEAVILY planted 30g and there is no hostility the gourami and betta even will share a tiny feeding ring
Thanks for sharing. Yes, agree..it depends on the fish. Just supervise and be ready to pull if things don’t work out. They are found in the same body of water in wild habitats..betta habitats...gouramis’ with nest so they do thrive. It depends on the fish’s personality in an enclosed aquarium and a bigger tank to give them space is a plus for success. Good luck and happy fish keeping.

My dwarf and male beta were very nippy at each other for the first day they where together then my beta somewhat assumed the alpha role in the tank and they have been fine ever since

the larger the tank, and the more plants there are for hiding, the better. it allows the more territorial fish to leave each other's view and de-stress

If you do try it keep an eye because there is a chance your fish are not compatible because of their personality.
Hi thanks for the video. Quick question. Can I put a half moon with two gold gourami and guppies together? Or can I put a Siamese fighting betta with two gold gouramis and guppies together?
This fish tank looks stunning with all the colors in the tank. The live plants really make the fish color pop

It should be fine with the fishes when the aquarium is large with plenty of vegetation and hiding places.
I have 1 male and 3 female bettas in my 55 gallon community tank and no problem s. I also have a male sunset

How did your fish get along? My Betta fish is a nice fish during the day but at night he would hunt and attack my other fish. I had to give him his own ten gallon tank. I just had neon tetras, panda Cory catfish , and harlequin rasbora. I also had some ghost shrimp that would go up missing thanks to my Betta fish aka Zuko. Lmk how yours went?
I have a Betta fish named Capone and he gets along fine with the other fish in our tank. He just goes about his own business and hides out most of the time.

.. 3 months now 5 gouramis , 2 dwarfs, 2 thick lip and one blue. With 1 blue. Seen no territorial aggression with 11 female Betas. Then again I either have all females or the surface agitation is keeping the male gourami from making a bubble nest so it has nothing to defend.

My gourami beats my 3 bettas up so bad that I had to remove it inside a breeder box. The gourami is crazy. I am sorry I bought it. I would give it away, but my wife loves it.
Sorry to hear that. Gourami’s are really aggressive towards betta fish so putting them in the same space we should be cautious.
Try adding more decoration or change the places of decoration once in a while, due to the small tank, your gourami could be fighting for territory. I have 3 gouramis and they go perfectly well with my bettas and other community fish. You could try getting a bigger tank. I have a 36 gallon tank, but for you, a 30 gallon could also work nicely, it mainly depends on the amount of fish you're going to have, for example, will your tank be a community fish filled tank, individual fish tank, or a 1 breed fish filled tank, or 1 single fish filled tank. Reply if you can, & hope it helps. :-)
