      @@slightlyaboveaveragekid8688 Keeping different gourami together in the same tank can cause them to fight for space. Therefore, they can be grown alone or separated by glass. If you have the money you can keep different gourami in a large fish tank.

    male Paradise Fish are actually one of the more aggressive Labyrinth fish, not just with each other but towards many other community fish, not sure I'd really recommend them, unless you get a female. Moonlight Gouramis and Snakeskin Gouramis are also fairly peaceful, but get pretty big.

Weird thing is he does not bother with my 3 bichirs and my pleco he just investigate and give them a little sniff then let them sit beside him except the 3 others

    I think the sparkling gourami would also be a good choice. From what I'm reading, they're pretty peaceful, can be kept in schools, and, perhaps best of all, they're very small; they only get a couple of inches. They can also make a clicking sound, though I don't remember if that's a territorial thing with males or if it can happen in general. It's pretty cool though since most fish dont make sounds.

    Pearl gourami has always been my favorite fish. Haven’t had any since the 80s, had a hard time finding them and took up the salt water hobby soon after (was working at a pet store in Seattle and they didn’t have a good rep as a healthy fish). Glad to see they are still around

    I live in China and have found what translates to "Ball Gouramis" in both blue and pearl so far. Seeking more info on them and also want to find out if more colors are available. I really like them! So far they are all about the size of quarter after several months of growing and seem peaceful. They like to hide at times amongst the plants, but they also like to swim around at different tank levels.

    Everything I've read about the chocolate gourami talks about keeping very specific water chemistry, namely very soft, acidic, low in carbonates, and full of tannins. This last condition is usually met by running water through peat or oak leaves. From your video, it's impossible to tell, but the water looks very clear. Do you find the chocolates to be more adaptable to more commonplace water chemistry? They are so interesting looking and it would be neat to have them in a large-ish community tank. Thanks, love your videos!

    So I don't know how this has happened. I just rescued an aquarium that was left behind when my friends roommate decided to just dip. What was left behind was a 30 gallon aquarium with eight neon tetra two tetra I don't know what they are and a betta. What I was really blown away with is that I always heard that beta once separated from their families didn't like living with nobody. Well since I've rescued this aquarium and 10 other fish living with the beta I have added two golden honey gouramis I've added two Julian Cory cats I've added a powder blue dwarf and a orange flame dwarf gourami I've added three neon tetra and the coolest fish in the aquarium and nicest to all the fish is the beta I'm blown away I think I'm going to get a bigger aquarium just to see what this beta will put up with

    I’m transitioning from saltwater to freshwater and I set up my first freshwater tank. I’m very knowledgeable about saltwater fish but I don’t know much about freshwater fish. The new tank is 10 gallons by the way. I was thinking that I could put one dwarf gourami and 6 or 7 neon tetras in there. Is that a good combination? I’ve done my research and many say that is fine, but I trust you more.

    • @rainraptor6501
      @rainraptor6501 5 років тому

      I'm no expert, but I'd say that would be fine. You might want to go with just 5 tetras in a 10 gallon, but 6 or 7 would still be okay.

    Have in my community tank 240l honey gouramis (sweethearts!), two large males blue gouramis (tolerate each other in one each opposite corner) and a bunch of paradise fish of 2 different species, 2 females and 4 males. These go well together after establishing some hierarchy. And between the species i have zero problem what so ever! No bullying or harassing. Only once my honey female has walloped the rest of gouramis and shoved around manacapuru angelfishes, when she decided to make space for the baby chamber. She totally topped my big bandits... they had no chance against a little female, haha

    Always had dwarf gourami. I accidentally bought a honey gourami and it’s the best fish I have ever had. He is called John McClane from Die Hard. My tank broke and not sure how long he was without water but he was on the substrate looking dead. Added him and some of his friends to a bucket of treated water and took them to the fish shop he is the only fish that loved lost 16 fish except for this guy

  • @jon368100
    @jon368100 6 років тому +1

    If you’re talking about comparability with their own species, then yes dwarf gouramis should be on this list. Always have kept one as the only gourami in the tank though and I’ve never had a problem with make dwarf gouramis... kept them with all sorts of tetras, corydoras, etc. Paradisefish are the absolute devil though. They’re good if you want something a little more unique than a run-of-the-mill betta and only have a 5-10 gal tank. Other than that I would absolutely agree with this list. Maybe add the sparkling or thicklip gourami in place of the paradisefish.
    Gouramis seem to be the only group of fish where nobody can really agree on how aggressive they are. I’ve had three-spot/ blue gouramis that literally killed everything despite being labeled peaceful in many books. I’ve had completely docile bettas and kissing gouramis. I’ve had pearls that get *very* aggressive around feeding time but are exemplary otherwise. The temperament of these fish varies even more than cichlids. Honestly, any gourami species is fine under two conditions: they are the only gourami in the tank, or you have so many that aggression is diffused. I have found that gouramis do very well in specimen tanks even if they’re a little small.

    • @jon368100
      @jon368100 Рік тому

      @@Urolling yes, I've had several powder blues...they're just another color form of dwarf gouramis. they have much more noticeable sexual dimorphism versus other species. in this case, the dwarf gouramis that you see in stores that are brightly colored in different blue, striped, and red forms are all males. female dwarf gouramis are silver and tend to stay smaller. They're also pretty rare to find; I have only seen them in a few aquarium specialty stores, never in big box stores.

    Great list! I was planning on setting up a community tank using multiple species of gourami but am unsure of compatibility. Its going to be a densely-planted roughly 55 gallon setup. I was hoping to be able to use a pair of pearl gourami, a small group of samurai chocolate gourami (only about 4), and a shoal of 6 or so sparkling gourami. Would I run into any compatibility issues with these in the same tank?

    Now im sure this is just a coincidence, but i had two female pearl gouramis in a planted 75 gallon. I watched one bully the other to the floor repeatedly and i had no tank it could have gone in and i lossed the gourami. I would recommend to keep pearl gouramis in a tank with lots of places to hide from eachother and getting 3 instead of a pair.

    nice, ive always liked the gouramis. would a school of neons do well in a 33L with 2 honey gouramis?

      I'd probably go with 1 or 3 for the honey gouramis.

      ok thanks. whould i be able to add anything into the 33L if i went with 3? i dont want to overstock and end up with aggression due to space or water quality problems

    I hear Paradise fish are quite agressive towards other fish that swim around, but how do they get along with fish that just crawl on surfaces? I want to get some hillstream loaches, but I also want some pretty cold water fish to fill the water column the loaches won't use. Would paradise fish mind their own business, or would they pester the loaches?

    32 gallon tank, well planted...how many females can you keep? Something like the powdered blue?

    I like that Cory...."Very Gourami~Esk" LOLOLOL. I really like the powder blue and the honey. Real bummer that I never see honey gourami. I will have to go on a mission.

    Do Paradise Fish do well with White Clouds?
    I used to have a Blue Gourami. He bullied smaller fish like Zebra Danios and Cory Catfish. However when I paired him with four Giant Danios, he seemed to transform overnight into a quiet, mild-mannered fish.

    Would a flame dwarf gourami do good with guppy and platies? Or are they aggressive
