As a Volvo V70 owner myself it hurt my soul a little when he ruined the stereo with the angle grinder xD
These have a cracking stereo as well, especially if it is the premium one with Dolby Prologic! Alex played himself by destroying it!

Agreed these cars are great when everything everything's fine, it's comfortable, drives great and the engines are lovely. but when it comes to the overall experience they're not that great, it's overengineered and all in the name of comfort and trading in on maintenance cost. for example a leaking motormount will have the engine run like crap because it's connected to the engine vacuum, witch causes falce air to enter the vac system and the brakebooster is allso connected in the same vac loop. These cars also chew through wishbone bushings every 60 or 70 thousand km they've placed the rear bushing of the front wishbones in vertical orientation witch overstresses them (they're simply not designed for this range of motion but placed them like this because it makes for a really comfortable ride) and causes premature tears in them and that's an MOT fail.
It's all small things and they're super reliable cars but the small things just keep on failing nothing serious but it gets very old (and a bit expensive) very quickly.
But if you keep all the repairs up to date is a lovely ride.

P2 gen Volvos are the best cars out there. Reliable and cheap to maintain and if you're lucky you can get one that makes 250/260 hp

Poor Volvo being slaughtered by Alex. Amazing car, I made thousands of km in the same car going on vacation in the mountains from Sardinia to northern Italy.
Unfortunately this is probably even more likely to be scrapped now what with having a destroyed dash interior, which from the looks of the comments, no-one appreciated happening just for contents sake

It's quite rare you can have a car with that amount of miles on it and everything works as it should. Then you go ahead and cut the shit out of the radio where the interior appears to be in very good condition. This channel is just becoming silly at this point, people just giving away cars for stupid money just to get on the channel.

@@zknarc Yes it did age well. You could lose a grand on the stereo they butchered, polish up the lights saving £800. I bet, using non-genuine parts, the cost to get it through an MOT would have been less than a grand. So it was still stupid to butcher the stereo. Even if they are stripping it and racing it, it was mindless vandalism, like kids smashing up a bus shelter for the sake of it.

This channel has kind of become a victim of its own success. When you were phoning around sellers on Autotrader or Facebook for £300 bargains it was aspirational. We could all try that. Now people are offering you cars at silly money just to appear on the channel, it feels very different.

Stupid people will remain stupid. That car was easily worth at least 2-4k €.. for even 2k they could have a nice vacation, room refresh or some long-term investion for the kid. But they rather paid their 2 to 4k euro to be in some weird and tbh boring video, which most people will forget they ever watched something the next day

Haha, this reminds me of being a kid when my parents were trying to sell a car and 8 year old me said, the wheels are falling off (a plastic wheel trim fell off once). I got a good clip around the head for that one and learned a valuable lesson. When selling a dodgy car, say as little as possible.

I had one of these, bought for £275 with 283,000 miles up. Went through three MOTs, sold it after three years for £600. Brilliant car.
The suspension likely needs new anti-roll bar drop links. Engines are almost indestructible as long as you look after them

Recently purchased a 2003 V70 T5 (2.3) absolutely love it, incredibly smooth yet good sounding cars! Enjoy it man!
£1 Aside , this shows what amazing cars can be purchased for £500 Ito £1k. I brought one of those for £900 a few years back, aside from consumables the only problem I’ve had was a brake calliper seizing.
This has just unlocked the memory of when Jeremy bought a Volvo for £1 in a challenge on Top Gear
