What a beauty. I’d love to see you do a budget paint repair on some of those rusty spots. I also think you should get Ethan to do the service with no help 😂
I had an e39 530d with e53 3.0 engine from the factory. 218hp original. A little bit work on the intake, exhaust, a bigger intercooler and a remap almost 300hp. And i was a very happy owner of that amazing driver's car. It was automatic though, but that wasn't a disadvantage at all.
Had a 2001 E39 530i sport manual. I was 3rd owner. Retail £40k, 2nd owner paid 18 at 3 years. I paid 10.5 after 4. I sold for £1500 at 7 with 135000 miles on the clock. Miss it very much, but fuel, parts, service, notchy gearbox and shit electrics (remember the dead pixels) etc made it hard to love. Had Fabia vRS as a replacement and didn't regret it. Having said that, it was a quality car. Ex-wife had a 2000 530i SE on OEM M5 wheels and sport kit. Monster when it worked. Such fond memories of every wheel sensor disintegrating twice including MD and OEM replacements, the ABS ECU going as it was positioned exactly where the internal solder was most likely to melt, and the turbo failing at 135k in Devon with two small kids in the back. Oh, and 4 of the injectors failing simultaneously and seizing in place, and the arguments with a main dealer, and getting it trailered to a garage miles away who could be arsed to get them out and replace them. And the £4k bill. Good cars to look at and drive, but oh, so many flaws. Such a contrast between the M54 and M57s too, it was hard to believe they were signed off by the same company. Good luck with your diesel mate.

That clarkson impresssion was spot on
Jeremy Clarkson when he sees this:

Bet JC doesn't take it in same good sport as Mr Brewer!
Sounds like Hammond's impression of Clarkson on tgt
What a beauty. I’d love to see you do a budget paint repair on some of those rusty spots. I also think you should get Ethan to do the service with no help 😂
Crisfix should do colaboration and fix all rust spots....that would be legendary on e39
Ah, this BMW has the indicator pack installed. that's an optional extra

ok
Even after having not been serviced for a while, genuinely surprised it still has indicator fluid left, a rarity for BMWs, lucky
I’m a simple man. I see an E39, I click “like”
You have a budget of £1000, restore it and do your best?😏
Or see how many more cars you can get for £1000
Had a 2001 E39 530i sport manual.
