I got the 1500w kit with internal controller and I have over 4000miles on it without ANY problem whatsoever!!! I highly recommend this kit. I can go 39.9mph and I get a range of about 40-60 miles out of a charge with my 54v battery..
All water proof connectors, plug and play EVERYTHING, I built the whole thing in about an hour and a half and it's one of the best vehicles Ive ever owned.. Doesn't make a sound and is way faster then the average 50cc scooters that "try" to race me.. and a few go- karts as well
Did your LED on/off (holding arrow up) work? My headlight stays on no matter what unless i unplug the battery. Also, does the P10 setting work? Mine has both PAS and throttle works regardless mode 0,1 or 2

ALSO INSTALLED WRONG 50% TIME the torque for 1000w is extremely little less than 500w geared hub... avoid front motor is best advice . good torque arms need proper installed than helps
Front forks are weaker and may break esp if aluminium. Front wheel is prone to spinning and could cause a fall. Steering will feel a bit odd maybe with the weight. Back wheel isnt too hard to do, I did mine no problem with very basic tools and knowledge.
Your kit is actually approximately $278.00 I don't know if that's what you paid at the time you bought it but that's what it is now which is a great price for everything you get when I was buying the kits when they first came out Violamart, was selling them for a little under $300 and you didn't get the LCD so this is a great price and I will be purchasing this kit very soon.
The pedel assist sensor does not tell the controller how fast you are pedeling and then in turn, determine how much power to send to the motor. Its there only to sense movement. The PAS setting you have it set at determines how much power is sent to the motor while the PAS is sensing movement.
2 things to say, I have the same kit and I have not yet added the pedal assist feature because I didn’t have the tool, and I also use a different 15ah battery from eBay, and I consistently get like 30 mph and at least 20 miles range

I had this kit and some feature does not work as expected. 1. Led rail is pass through from your battery. You cant turn on off from the lcd by holding up button 2. PAS mode is delay, and sometime output full speed at level 2, 3 and such. 3. Both throttle and PAS works regardless what you sat in the setting 0,1 or 2

Would like to convert my trek 3900. Yours looks exactly the same as mine. I realize there are differences. Mine also has integrated brake and shifter...prolly same one. I applaud your ingenuity. I would kind of like a more integrated or separate solution for the brakes. Your video brought this to my attention that I would need to figure this out. I guess I would need to buy separate shifters to match gear configuration front and back separate from brakes? Anyway. I am still looking around. thanks.
I had the same problem I just cut off the levers of the brakes then installed the ones that came with the kit and pushed them up against the shifters if done right nobody can tell a difference
Different solution to installing the cut off brakes with the kit. I ended up making the brake sensors for hydraulic brakes to solve the problem and keep the original integrated brake levers. Good job though, love my Voilamart

I've just purchased this Kit and it's still in It's box, waiting for the battery, I'm very new and very Inexperienced In fixing up bikes but I'm going to have a go at it, I have a road/hybrid bike to fit the kit to. However my brakes are Cantilever and I see that this Kit has 2 Brake connectors from the Controller, I've read that when the brakes are applied that it will cut out the motor.. can I use my existing brakes for this or do I need to upgrade my brakes to Disc Brakes? Hey. I would say use the new brakes. If not, you might face issue where your brake has to work much harder because the motor still spin when you are not 100% stop throttling

The instructions that come with this kit are bloody awful. I bought a front wheel drive to go on my home built trike. It was a real experience to build character. I am a retired engineer mechanic, and this was a challenge because I did not expect the torque produced. The instructions do not tell you how to mount the special washers, and I had the wheel tear out of the fork twice, tearing up the cables before I figured it out. I then changed to a heavy duty fork and ground the fork to fit the axel and washers, then I made a retaining torque arm to prevent the motor from going a different direction than the rest of the bike. You have to be careful. It produces a lot of power, but is kind of poopy on steep hills. Still and all, this is a great thing to try, and cheaper than a new electric, although you can now buy a new electric bike for USD1750.
@will kinh The plain washer goes on first, then the frame/fork, then the washer with the tab on the outside. The tab is critical, and is supposed to be, I guess, a substitute for a torque arm. The tab needs to be set into the axle slot, up against the lawyer tabs so it is trapped in there. The frame might have to be filed out to fit everything; just be careful to not make the slot too wide. I would also suggest a torque arm if you can get one.

It of course depends on the motor kit you buy and how long you want the battery to be able to last, but I went with a 48v 13Ah battery. As long as the voltage matches the motor and the battery says it supports the wattage, it will have enough amperage to support
The speedo is not calibrated correctly, it runs about 10-12% slower than shown as measured vs. gps. That being said it it has been reliable and nearly silent vs. the fat tire bikes running geared hubs which make a ton of noise.
You don't need to do the pedal assist that's just if you want your battery to last longer batteries last up to 3 years maybe only two if you don't use your pedals but what's the idea of an e-bike so you don't have to pedal
I have the same system but without a LCD easier to hook up less wires The twist throttle just tells you how much battery you have no speedometer but for 220 bucks 1500 watts
Hey Tech Round UP, I got the same bike setup to a T. 48v voilamart kit compatible downtube hailong battery. I didnt know about the aluminum copper connection situation. So Ive hooked it up and it wont run. can you help me troubleshoot this?
Connecting to the battery shouldn’t have cause any damage, unless connected with positive to ground and ground to positive. The battery protection should have kicked in however
May sound really simple, but wire it all up, and try holding down the power off button on the lcd screen for a few seconds. I had the multimeter out for hours trying to figure what was wrong before I did this!
In some states you do need a license for an a bike believe it or not well the ones that are only 350 w I believe those are legal you don't need a license they only go 19 mph
Now the 8000 watt bike kits are usually powerfull enough to destroy the chains & gears... exspensive too... Not exactly green unless a wind generator or creek water turbine generator is used to power the bikes battery.

The battery is separate from the kit. If you buy a Heilong style battery (which is what this video shows) then yes, the battery is removable, and the carrier and wire stays on the bike.

Illegal to ride on the public highway. Not illegal to own. Same as hoverboards/escooters/eskateboards/segways. But with these, they usually have a jumper you can cross to make them 'UK road legal' (obviously you take the jumper out once the cops are out of sight ;) )
after buying kit like this i can say its garbage , motor is too heavy , you can get better performance buying geared 750w kit ,torque is same and top speed is same and weight is almost half of 1000w . I dont want to talk about battery consumption which this motor eats like insane . Dont reccoment anybody buying direct drive bikes when there are plenty of small geared yet powerfull motors . i have samsung 48v 40.ah battery and 1000w without pedal assist will eat it so fast. 1000w with wheel weighs about 7 kg while 750w weights about 4.1kg . Some brands have even lighter 750w like 3.6kg with rim.

Torque arms are often overlooked, I installed one on my bike even though it is a steel frame and not aluminium.

You might need a voltmeter to measure voltage from the battery, etc to see where the problem might lie

How do you know if the battery and controller will be compatible?
Most batteries will be listed as 1000w and then just need to make sure it’s 48v

Illegal to ride on the public highway. Not illegal to own. Same as hoverboards/escooters/eskateboards/segways. But with these, they usually have a jumper you can cross to make them 'UK road legal' (obviously you take the jumper out once the cops are out of sight ;) )

after buying kit like this i can say its garbage , motor is too heavy , you can get better performance buying geared 750w kit ,torque is same and top speed is same and weight is almost half of 1000w . I dont want to talk about battery consumption which this motor eats like insane . Dont reccoment anybody buying direct drive bikes when there are plenty of small geared yet powerfull motors . i have samsung 48v 40.ah battery and 1000w without pedal assist will eat it so fast. 1000w with wheel weighs about 7 kg while 750w weights about 4.1kg . Some brands have even lighter 750w like 3.6kg with rim.
It costs $0.07 to charge battery where I live, so I don't worry too much about battery consumption. I also live 2.5 miles from work.
I want to put the front wheel version on my Schwinn Frontier mountain bike, I think it's a 26" tire and a pretty standard frame. Any reason it may not work? Thanks for any info if you got it

Sometimes you have to file a millimetre out the dropouts but that's easy, don't forget to use steel bottomed forks not magnesium or alloy.
