I’m still impressed my bafang 750w mid drive is still running flawless after 5 years without any maintenance. I also have a whyte e160 running bosh 250 watt to get exercise. I use the bafang more in summer to cruise around. I would love the defang frame with 1000w bafang at some point when funds allow it. Electric bikes are the best invention of today. Love watching your vids buddy don’t always comment but always watch 😁👍

I made two 3” by 3” steel plates with holes drilled in that mounted to the underside of the top tube with U bolts, then I used about 10 half inch thick zip ties to hold the ends of the battery up again the two plates, it worked out great. Looks kinda weird with all the zip ties but works great and very secure.

The wheel that came with my cheap ebike kit was the weakest part. I'm constantly tightening and adjusting the spokes. The paint is all peeling off too. The actual motor and controller have been good. (I did spend a bit more on a branded battery though)

  • @Chuckyplaysgames

Yeah i guess the only things I'd do different is get a better bike of marketplace with disc brakes also put something between batt & frame stop any rubbing and tape the sides of the frame to cover battery & other bits give it some water proofing other than that yeah spot on mate seems a good way to go.

That's class, next time I'd love to see you use it to work for deliveroo for a night and see if you can poach jobs from experienced deliveroo regulars on more expensive ebikes and scooters. That ebike would probably be grand as long as you charge it in the shed. If you're riding it and the battery starts smoking, point it away from people and jump off! @@jaykavcher7472 I'll bet it is, I wish (really do!!) I had the Dosh to build one, I've often wondered if I could eventually save up (hardly likely as I'm useless) 🤣 and maybe stick a 72v on mine with a bigger controller - although it would probably melt my 1500w Voilamart motor, unless I put heat-sinks and used that (is it?) ferro fluid stuff you put in the hub to draw out heat? But I guess I'd most likely have to up the wattage of the hub - I got a bleeding Sabvoton 7245m controller, bought a Bluetooth device and loaded the app to my phone but when I put it on my kit I couldn't get the app to work and when I turned the throttle the darn chain turned as it was locking the freewheel cassette, which really pissed me off as the controller was £180 and the Bluetooth dongle was £40 - waste of money it seemed...but damn it, it seemed a lot more powerful..
But the shunted 35a controller is actually quite fun really, I guess I'm doing ok for 1500w really 👍

Not bad , I wanted to buld an e-bike but a gas 2-cycle engine kit was CAD $160 for everything, so I went that route.
also at the time of purchase, a lot of bikes were catching on fire while riding or charging.
What I wasn't expecting was that the cost of gas and oil is catching me up to e-bike prices in the long run.
E-bikes can ride pretty much anywhere but the gas bike has a lot of restrictions.

This is cool to see but at 500 dollars I don’t know it would be worth it.
Very quick!! It’s lighter than most e-bike frames, just for pure performance its value may be there.
Another thing to consider in the states entry level e-bikes at Walmart are going for around 400$ and e-bikes on Amazon are around 450-500$ that’s for entry level smaller motors.
Main concern I would have with this build is stopping power of brakes, and weather resistance.
    I enjoyed video 👍, good job. 😊
I would include maybe the watt hour of build as this is one of the most important things pertaining to enike specs.

Anything with an internal combustion engine equals a world of pain in the UK - MOT test, expensive insurance, expensive fuel, road tax, speed cameras everywhere, congestion charges, ultra low emission zone if you're on London. ebikes are the future.

    • @cmac7168
      @cmac7168 2 місяці тому +2

@@stentionhousetrue but it’s almost just as bad for e-bikes - no throttle over 4mph, if your bike motor does over 15.5mph or has a throttle that does over 15.5mph then you have to tax, insure and register it. It’s also no longer classed as a bicycle and can only be ridden on the road (no parks or bike paths etc).
They’re talking about relaxing these laws a bit to allow throttle up to 15.5mph and 500w motors - but we’ll see if that actually comes through…
Even if the government would just allow e-bikes to have throttle up to 20mph - this would suit most riders needs and the bike isn’t crazy powerful. But here in the uk the reality is that anything beneficial to the public ends up heavily taxed, regulated or banned.

DUDE... i bought my Carrera Vengeance Disc Spec, 48v 1000w 10 years ago, but i crashed it about 2 years ago, it's been sat in my kitchen since, now it just comes up with errors on the screen, i think the controller is blown.. if i rebuilt it, i don't want another massive hub, heavy wheel on the back again, So What would you say about the 36v wheel on a 48v controller and battery ? what i mean is, speed and torque and acceleration, would it have similar pull and speed as my 48v 1000w wheel ? Thanks.. Paul..

@@DudeStuff Do you mean 500W 48V ? i checked online and the 36v kits are almost as expensive as the 48v kits.. i definitely want to rebuild it,, i've had it a long time, it had nearly 6000 miles on the clock when i crashed it.. sad..

I have over £1000 (over $1,313) and I want to build a custom ebike. My thoughts are Cube aim pro hardtail mtb for around £500, 1500w kit for just over £200 and battery for roughly £300. Any bad thoughts here? may God be with you

@JoseDuthie14 can't go too far wrong with most bikes just be careful where you buy your ebike kit nice to have legit battery cells etc

I can pedal mine up to 36mph by having a 56T Chainring on the front. That is about the bikes maximum top speed so it's perfect for me. I don't even have a throttle anymore.

Im trying to convert a jesse jame west coast bicycle. I have an idpoo z8 which is great...but it is heavy and so am i (116 kgs), if i dont peddle up a severe hill it cuts the throttle off to avoid shorting out.
My worry is, the jesse james is built like a bmx so peddling up a hill to assist isn't really an option. My Idpoo z8 has a 500w, will a 1000w be suitable for hill climbs with throttle only ?
