I swear e-bikes are like magic. Best invention for the cycling world (or for personal transport). I'm excited to save up and buy one myself, specifically the 750 watt bafang mid-drive.
I made two 3” by 3” steel plates with holes drilled in that mounted to the underside of the top tube with U bolts, then I used about 10 half inch thick zip ties to hold the ends of the battery up again the two plates, it worked out great. Looks kinda weird with all the zip ties but works great and very secure.
The wheel that came with my cheap ebike kit was the weakest part. I'm constantly tightening and adjusting the spokes. The paint is all peeling off too. The actual motor and controller have been good. (I did spend a bit more on a branded battery though)
Yeah i guess the only things I'd do different is get a better bike of marketplace with disc brakes also put something between batt & frame stop any rubbing and tape the sides of the frame to cover battery & other bits give it some water proofing other than that yeah spot on mate seems a good way to go.

Not bad , I wanted to buld an e-bike but a gas 2-cycle engine kit was CAD $160 for everything, so I went that route. also at the time of purchase, a lot of bikes were catching on fire while riding or charging. What I wasn't expecting was that the cost of gas and oil is catching me up to e-bike prices in the long run. E-bikes can ride pretty much anywhere but the gas bike has a lot of restrictions.

I can pedal mine up to 36mph by having a 56T Chainring on the front. That is about the bikes maximum top speed so it's perfect for me. I don't even have a throttle anymore.
Im trying to convert a jesse jame west coast bicycle. I have an idpoo z8 which is great...but it is heavy and so am i (116 kgs), if i dont peddle up a severe hill it cuts the throttle off to avoid shorting out.
My worry is, the jesse james is built like a bmx so peddling up a hill to assist isn't really an option. My Idpoo z8 has a 500w, will a 1000w be suitable for hill climbs with throttle only ?
2000 watt kit better look at my chopper videos it's 8ft steel framed bike

hi mate im looking to convert my bike on the cheap but i want the fastest cheapest conversion.. how cheap could i get a 2000w kit? its a 26 inch bike with front and back quick release had it like 10 years plus.
Links?
What's the range of the bike ?
Can you put a 28 inch ebike kit on a 27.5 inch bike
it usually comes with the wheel i think so maybe it would work but your bike might be slightly pointed upward and look a bit odd
Any update on range?????
Got a vitus mtb needs converting 👍
