Great lesson, thank you very much!. I see you tune in D and I want to follow you, but someone said my type of sitar should not be tuned in D, only to maximum of C#, else may make the neck useless after awhile due to too much tension . Is that true? I have one Ravi Shankar model, kharaj pancham... thank you Please continue the lessosns!

Thank you for these valuable basic tips. You mentioned playing two strings at a time while making Da & Ra strokes. Is this technique valid for Ustab Vilayat khan model (6 strings) of sitar too, or is it good only for Pandit Ravi Shankar model?

Sir plz explain the position of right hand also.
I'm able to play "Da" &"Ra" but unable to play "Dir" for long time. I also request you to please explain the both hands positions while playing faster "taans" . I always tend to miss 1 note while playing taans. And also I have a question: I'm now playing a kharaj pancham sitar (7 strings) but I'm want to play on kharaj pancham sitar of 8 strings (Pandit Nikhil Banerjee style) like the one you have. My question is that, Is it easy to switch from kharaj pancham sitar of 7 strings one to 8 strings one. Hope you will reply.

When we do down stroke (“ra stroke) do we also stroke both strings or only when “da up stroke? When I strike with da I hit both strings but I am unsure if I also strike both strings when doing ra.

In both you should try both strings. It keeps the sound balanced otherise Da sounds full and Ra empty.
