- All of us playing Sitar have the dream to play Meend which is a continuous resonating pulling element that makes to glide from one note to another mostly five notes at a time. Here Sitar Sam ( Samanwaya Sarkar) is explaining the most important element Gamak and how mastering Gamak can lead you to play Meend flawlessly on Sitar. Follow on facebook @ sitarsam

Fantastic👌👌👌👌
Great technic to prepare hands for gamak and meend.
Thank you Sir. You are such a nice teacher. Your lessons are invaluable. I found your instructions on these useful:
1. Always practise on Raag
2. How to prepare ear
3. Pulling and stroke going on same time
4. Forward and reverse meend
5. Exercises on Gamak
6. Focus on technique and form and gradual progression
7. Practise Gamak at slow speed
8. Practising 2,3,4,5 notes from a single fret
Question: From a single fret, what is the maximum number of notes that can be played using meend. Is there any rule on that!
Thanks for your interest. Usually 5 notes can be pulled. I personally can't do more than that. But can't say no one can. 😊

👍🙏🏻
Please explain in Hindi. you are great tutor.
Beautiful
Thanks so very much for the lesson sir... I really wished to be able to play meend but beacuse it hasn't been too long since I've playing sitar and don't know much about musical notes i thought it would take years learn the meend technique... But now you've made this easier.. Now I'll try more and more and to do better...
I had i question in my mind you mentioned in the video that... We don't play MA and PA together... Is there any specific reason why we don't do so?
Kindly reply and again am so thankful..
Thank you sir, for your beautiful teachings. But I am in doubt, that how one can know that how much distance can be pulled from NEE to reach at SAA and strike at SAA.
Sir, Thanks 🙏👍 for your wonderful teaching, but in Avarohi if you show the Gamak it would have been better sir if you don't mind. Thanks sir. I will get my sitar and practice
So beautiful. But how to practice to play like ur meend at time 7.45 to 8.8. Ud u like to upload a vdo more on how to practice meend of multiple zigzag notes on one fret. 🙏
It's really hard to explain everything here in comment box. Please join my workshop coming weekend 😊🙏
Very nice. What is gayaki ang?
Please make a video on how to develop faster movement on right hand. Nobody has done a video about training riht hand. Thank you!

Thank you for such an amazing lesson 🙏
Is your sitar tuned to C# scale ?
D
You should teach classes and charge tuition for your hard work, sir.
What raag are you sympathetic strings tuned to
Expecting new video to be uploaded soon
The gamak was too quick, could not get it. Please go slow with the demo. Gamak. Thank you loads.
Sir which guage string are you using for your sitars
How to hold thenmijrub
Could you please explain how to play tesri jaati
How do you pluck the sympathetic strings and the playing strings at the same time
You need to grow nail on your little finger of right hand 😊
I may not be right. I think this vdo is for advanced learners. But may I request u to kindly upload a vdo in learning MEEND for freshers only those who started learning recently.🙏
For freshers no need to practice Meend, practice sapat, palta, murchana , bols, Gamak. For meend you need at least an experience of Sitar learning for 5 years. So don't bother about it. Develop your skill first. Meend will automatically come.
Namasthe sir your teaching very exlant sir I am learning sitar I whant to tecnicks in sitar how to contact to you sir please reply me sir
you may email on devasaman@gmail.com
Please Hindi me mind. Gamak. Samjaiye please 🌹🙋🌿
