  • All of us playing Sitar have the dream to play Meend which is a continuous resonating pulling element that makes to glide from one note to another mostly five notes at a time. Here Sitar Sam ( Samanwaya Sarkar) is explaining the most important element Gamak and how mastering Gamak can lead you to play Meend flawlessly on Sitar. Follow on facebook @ sitarsam

    Thank you Sir. You are such a nice teacher. Your lessons are invaluable. I found your instructions on these useful:
    1. Always practise on Raag
    2. How to prepare ear
    3. Pulling and stroke going on same time
    4. Forward and reverse meend
    5. Exercises on Gamak
    6. Focus on technique and form and gradual progression
    7. Practise Gamak at slow speed
    8. Practising 2,3,4,5 notes from a single fret
    Question: From a single fret, what is the maximum number of notes that can be played using meend. Is there any rule on that!

    • @DevSam123
      @DevSam123  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for your interest. Usually 5 notes can be pulled. I personally can't do more than that. But can't say no one can. 😊

    Thanks so very much for the lesson sir... I really wished to be able to play meend but beacuse it hasn't been too long since I've playing sitar and don't know much about musical notes i thought it would take years learn the meend technique... But now you've made this easier.. Now I'll try more and more and to do better...
    I had i question in my mind you mentioned in the video that... We don't play MA and PA together... Is there any specific reason why we don't do so?
    Kindly reply and again am so thankful..

      For freshers no need to practice Meend, practice sapat, palta, murchana , bols, Gamak. For meend you need at least an experience of Sitar learning for 5 years. So don't bother about it. Develop your skill first. Meend will automatically come.
