Yes it was already cut as you can see at the end of the video 😉🙂. What would you film to make the start of a winch rope repair video interesting? 🤷♂️ I could just start it with 'Today I'm going to show you how to'. But that's just not the fun nature of my channel 🙂
From Soft Shackles to winch rope repair !! This rope is amazing !! Ive gotta get some. If you cut it 4 times before it broke....then its worth every penny of its price. I learn a ton of stuff here brother, thank you
Mate this could be the best off road advice I have seen I had no idea how to fix this stuff thank you could’ve a life saver for some Well done very educational and well explained Cheers
My God, man you are the best, I have been doing off roading for about 6 years now and this is the first time ever I learn this useful trick. I know how strong (and expensive) a good winch robe is so the fact that you cut it on purpose for making this video just blow my mind. Respect form UAE 😊
WOW, this showed up in my stream. I watched this when it came out, and it's still some of the best content for overlanding and off-roading I've ever seen.
Outstanding video pal. I don't own a 4x4 but I still really enjoy watching your content. I do hike and hammock camp frequently; I've replaced my suspension lines with Amsteel, and the exact same principles apply with rigging and repairing the Dyneema material. Congratulations on the "creator on the rise" designation. It's well earned. Cheers from the USA.
Really informative and enjoyable. I noticed in a previous clip you had a habit of stepping over the winch rope while it was under strain or tension, can I suggest this is an action best avoided. Keep the videos coming. 👍
I really like your little bloopers at the end. I've seen other you tube channels that have their little blooper sections at the end of the clip, and they are always entertaining.
Greeting from Western Washington, U.S.A. Good skills and tips no matter where you are off-roading. I have relatives all over Australia. You might be one of them.
Plus steel cable weighs so much more (huge difference when running it up a hill), and you need to wear heavy gloves when handling it to avoid slicing your hand open on any loose strands, the only problem with rope is you have to avoid rubbing it against rocks (but you can buy sliding sheaths that just stay on the rope, roll up on the drum and be be placed where needed).
I feel sorry for your winch rope, but thanks for sharing with us, the techniques for splicing the broken ends of the rope together. As always, your videos are very informative and educational, keep it up mate.
I guess it helps to part the rope by leaving the parking brake on too! Good video/education all uses need when the line truely parts for; whatever reason! Enjoying the video's !
Works like Chinese finger cuffs! Super easy I’ve done a couple repairs like youve shown but on smaller diameter dyneema for side x sides with 3500 lb to 4500 lb winches! Great demo man!
You do very good videos. Professional, simple but through explanation of 'How to perform, what -to-do' in an unexpected situation. I have found Life usually doesn't give one a classroom/ Lab example, rain, mud, fire, medical emergency, etc., and the best one can hope for is to have some training, back-up options, and maybe some ingenuity & luck. Amazing what a creative human can pull off if you keep your head, and your videos are an excellent training resource. Thank you.
Brilliant, thanks for putting that video together, extremely informative & great information to know. I've really been enjoying the content you show. Grateful.
Great video! For me try to buy a reliable brand of recovery gears like Miolle recovery gears for peace of mind. Used there kinetic rope multiple times no signs of damage and worked like a charm. Nice hi-vis color makes it easy to see and, more importantly, stay clear of during the snatch. Seems very well made and robust. I definitely recommend this kinetic rope.
Youre pretty young but very knowledgeable. Thank you for posting these videos. I am beginning my off roading experience in a 2018 Jeep JLU Rubicon, my wife has a 2019 JLUR. (Las Vegas Nevada, USA)
Great vid and thanks a lot for your impressive efforts. I really learnt a lot and I'm about to figure out what I already got in my car to use instead of the wiring rope🤔. Looks like I have to buy it next time I'll be back in Australia, hopefully soon after this corona mess. Stay in health mate👍. Cheers from Reunion Island👋🏿
Thank you after buying new winch I can put a new eye into the old rope and that way I will have a light weight winch extension! ... that will be good reuse of old but still good rope .... Thanks again
I can’t believe someone put a thumbs down on that bit of info ...... Not to many would think of the splice inside each other ,they op for a knot well done mate hope the new winch cable was worth it 😁
thanks for the informative video my rope split towards the hook end so will be fixing it using your second method, however I cannot find any information on stitching it anywhere as I want it to be hopefully a permanent solution, if you have any information on the stitching or could point me in the correct position that would be greatly appreciated, thanks again!
Could also just tie 2 bowling knots in about 30 seconds and continue the recovery. Can be easily untied after high loads since it was used in sailing and can splice once back at home off the trail or replace.
You should push the end through the entire rope a couple times before putting it inside that Way its locked and it only takes a minute longer Else pretty awesome guide
1:57 Literally a really serious question from U.S.A Texas what is around your ankles above your boots? Whats the purpose is it so small rocks dont get in your boots?
I have put loops on the end of many a nylon rope like that and spliced two ropes together like that instead of tying them and explained to the questioning observers that it is stronger and easier to take apart than a knot.
Nice job there buddy. If you don't mind answering quick question, would you happen to know what the strength compared to original dope would be. Thank you.
Rope but I'm sure everyone got it. I've written whole paragraphs and looked back at the word that iPad changed to another word and sometimes it fits and changes the whole meaning. I know there is a way besides better proof reading and rewriting the whole thing but I don't know how. Not very computer savy but thanks again for a great video
Appreciate the effort you went through to make this content. Also prob the best 4x4 tip content I have seen. Keep up the great vids!!
Thanks for the comment Ron, I really appreciate it 🙂. Glad you enjoy the channel so much!
@@SeekAdventure that rope was allready cut to break.. of that is 5/8 rope, should stand 5t. easy. clik bait, how about real vids. not bs..
Yes it was already cut as you can see at the end of the video 😉🙂.

The effort you put in to create this video is proper standout stuff. Round of applause!
I live in England (unfortunately) and will never experience what you talk about but your videos are addictive. Thank you.

Wow, great video. I learned heaps from your Dyneema rope sacrifice. Thanks so much, man.
You're an odd fella but you're also bloody serious, That's what I like about you. Great vid. Subscribed and hit the bell !
Thanks mate, glad I've found an audience that doesnt mind the quirky side. Thanks for tuning in! 🙂
@@SeekAdventure naw, we love you, dude
@@SeekAdventure I love the quirky side too....and the humour...lol
Your videos are the best man. Love the light humour throughout
A well-produced and informative video once again, thanks!
Today's video brought to you by the word, "virtually".
What a major effort to create this informative video! Impressive!
Really informative and enjoyable. I noticed in a previous clip you had a habit of stepping over the winch rope while it was under strain or tension, can I suggest this is an action best avoided. Keep the videos coming. 👍
Love listening to this guy talk reminds me of the auses I worked with in Afghanistan 👊🏻
Had no idea you could repair a winch rope. Another tool for my offroad toolkit. Thanks.

Id love to go for a 4x4 trip with you, you always seem so happy and would just take things on your stride. Happy days!!
Always learning something. I initially thought why not use a steel cable? Then at the end I saw how tough this stuff really is.. and repairable.
Thanks, good stuff, I miss seeing your regular videos and hope you are well.
Hope you can do another vid showing the permanent stitching. Not sure I trust anyone to demonstrate it so well! ;)
Nicely done brother.
Please come back this has been one of the best channels on UA-cam
watching the set-up at the end really shows how durable that rope really is.
Well done
One of the best vids i've ever seen !!
Your explanations are really clear...
Thank's a lot Mate!!!
Greetings from Ensenada, Baja Mexico....✌👍👍
That was great. I swear, the things you do to make a great video, thanks!! Stitching 🧵 video next, please.
Thank you so much for all your good work I bet you enjoy your self because we enjoy learning from you thank you so much and don't stop
Great video. Also worth mentioning if you’re not in a position to splice the rope two bowlines work really well.
or a spare winch rope huh
I also recommend using a snatch block if you are REALY stuck, easier on everything!
Thank you,. Very educational. Thank you for being so generous with your time and equipment.
Great video! Very helpful and you did an excellent job explaining and showing how to do the various splices. Thanks so much
I feel sorry for your winch rope, but thanks for sharing with us, the techniques for splicing the broken ends of the rope together. As always, your videos are very informative and educational, keep it up mate.
Great information! That’s a whole lot quicker than braiding ! They didn’t teach that one in the Navy.
Awesome Video Mate thanks

Thanks for the video and I appreciate the sacrifice of the rope, thanks to the sacrifice I already know how to repair it for emergencies
Very effective rope skills you have bud much appreciated

World record for saying dyneema within 13 minutes though 😂
-Dyneema-

Pretty sure I would be saying a different word than Far Out if my cable broke, still starts with F though...
Was waiting for a video from you! Finally got one, yeeew!
The fencing wire beats using a blunt needle - Thumbs up !
Fantastic video, best way I've seen to splice. Bloody brilliant m8. Thanks for your efforts.
UHH OHH, VIRTUALLY IS BACK!!
Haha, maybe one day I'll learn how to control my camera vocabulary!
another good video, thank you,i have enjoyed all your videos ecspecialy the drone work in your photography.
Excellent video! Well done as always.
"Not what I wanted to do but I'll show you how to fix it" could clearly see you holding the brakes though 😂 good video man appreciate the content
Great content and very helpful, but why dont you use a steel cable?
That was an awesome video. Thank you. (PS: I hope you have a sponsor for your cable.....)
If you do not have a wire use the oil dip stick from the engine or transmission they work well. Good job with the information.
Great video, mate. Learn something new everyday. Cheers.
thats a good area where you did that take, been there a few times..good tips mate !
Behold the power of plastic...enjoying watching your videos from the USA.
Great demonstration and very practical.
Debating between steel and synthetic cable for when I buy my first winch, finding out you can do this definitely sold me on synthetic
Could also just tie 2 bowling knots in about 30 seconds and continue the recovery. Can be easily untied after high loads since it was used in sailing and can splice once back at home off the trail or replace.
Would a double fishermans knot work to get you out of a sticky situation? Or would the know make the rope too weak so to speak
Great video as usual, thanks for your hard work.
New drinking game - skull a beer every time you say "make sure there are no sharp edges otherwise it'll catch on the dynema" :)
You'll get more jacked if you take a shot every time he says "dynema"
Awesome vid mate! Very inspiring!
Excellent information!!
Another one of your great videos Michael. Cheers mate.👍
What do you expect playing round with what, at the end of the day, are bits of polypropylene rope??
Nice one Micheal I've learnt something new. Good to know was that no8 or 12 wire
Cool tips. Do you not use actual cables for wenches in Australia? We have steel cable wenches in USA.
great video mate and explanation mate
You should push the end through the entire rope a couple times before putting it inside that Way its locked and it only takes a minute longer Else pretty awesome guide
Couple - two is good ✔,
three is too much 🚫.
what about a brummel lock splice? could that be used as a permanent alternative?
Thanks for the video lesson!... sorry for the expense.
Another great tip. Keep em coming.
@Seek Adventure I'm winch shopping and this is after you installed the Carbon winch. What happened to that? Different winch or change your rope?
Another top video mate thanks for the great info
great tips and info mate keep up the great work
Good job!!! Explanation and Camera Work
thats some fancy rope work cowboy
