- Making your own DIY 4x4 Soft Shackle isn't as hard as it looks, but how much they can actually hold after you make them is a big unknown!
In this video I show you how to make your own soft shackle out of 12mm Dyneema rope.
I wouldn't advise making your own soft shackle for 4x4 recoveries. - Авто та транспорт
Thanks so much for running us through that. I'm going to make four of them. Of course I'm not going to use them for my personal 4WD recoveries. I would not dream of such a thing. I'll hang two on the lounge room wall, and give my wife the other two for Christmas. 👍🏼😊
Kevin 🤣
Your wife is a lucky woman.
😎
She's gonna strap your ball with it lol. So who's the gift really for lol
Mate you have to start the channel up again, one of the best tubes out there. Still watching your videos over and over
Your videos are very well thought-out, planned, executed & presentation is excellent. Enjoying your relaxed yet informative style of presenting. Keep up the good work.
I agree
Perfect camera angle to follow along, none of this upside down left right stuff! Thanks
Your definitely showing your presentation skills mate. I confident you’ll be picked up by some TV show or something like that 👍
Hey Michael, I just came across your channel last night and I've almost been binge-watching since! So much top-notch info, brilliantly presented without waffle and BS, I'm genuinely appreciative of you taking the time to share so many really useful tips and info - Love your work mate! Cheers from a fellow Sandgroper!
Best video out there on "soft shackle with buried ends"!!! Thank you!
Just finished my first one! Awesome vid! Thanks for the instructions! Came out great for me! Only modification I made from your video was instead of using the twine to hold the spot on the knot, I passed the rope back through itself to use the rope itself to make a knot there! Thanks so much! Can't wait to try mine out!
Big thanks from Texas, mate! Thanks to your very well done video, I whipped up a couple of my own soft shackles, using a spare length of 3/8 inch Dyneema that I had laying around. Used 7.5 feet of rope, with the twine tied at 20 inches from the top of the loop. Sweet as... 👍👍
Take a drink every time he says "Dyneema"🤣🤣🤣
As long as you're not makin your shackle while playin this game lol
I'd get drunk enough on "virtually"
I’m SHITFACED! 🥴
Dyneeemer
Oly chit....I'm duckin frunk.....
Hi Michael, super tutorial and a really useful skill to have. I'm off to dig out my big knitting needles. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and keep up the good work. 👍🖖😎
Awesome vid young fella 10/10. Keepem coming
Thanks so much for showing how to do this! This is a very handy skill to know. 10/10. 👍
Yeah, but I just needed a soft shackle to hang a canteen from my belt loop. Those look a little hefty to me.
Very cool, easy a simple instructions. The camera angles were good and the audio is good too.
Thank you for a fun and kool thing. Jim
Thanks for this video. I have great admiration for your wide knowledge, practical skills and your ability to teach. Please keep up the good work.
Thank you for making this video!!! I’ve been trying to learn how to make a button knot for weeks, but every video, animation, and pdf I found only confused me more. Yours worked perfectly for me (after several failed attempts). I appreciate you taking the time to do this for everyone.
Cheers
This video is amazing mate!!! loving your content! keep them coming
Congrats on the 50k+ subs mate. I only just subbed in at the 49,859 mark so I take some credit for helping you over the line (ok about 1/50,000th of the credit) 😉
Great channel, and already working my way back through the catalogue! Keep up the quality content 🤙
Great video mate! I've made some smaller soft shackles - You make this look so easy! Thanks!
Just made one from an old winch line I had using your video. Thanks for the help!
Nice one mate. Will have to watch this a few times then try it myself. 👍
I’ve come to really enjoy your channel. Good luck mate!
Done and done! Thanks for the clear instructions!
Great video. It's always fun to learn how to do new things
i seek adventure, but i do it in the USA. That said, awesome vid, whilst doing my laundry i made one of these, and then used it later at my own risk. After much investigation, i also determined the same taper method on the rope is used for syn rope repair.
I am learning australian to better apperciate your vids.
The australian to America dictionary translates "Dynamo" to "really cheap chinese synthetic winch rope".
I have that cheap blue winch rope on my winch, its actually quite strong, single line pull of 12000 pounds during the great South Texas snow storm of 2021. (thats 5000 kilos approximately) No issues. i use my winch alot.
Keep the vids coming, making more of these, they are awesome.
You're a legend man, great vids!
Cheers from south America👌🤙🍻
Your a very good teacher. Thanks for the video!
Nice one brother 👍🏽... l love making soft shackles and knots in general 😃
Thanks for teaching us Yanks about Aussie off-roading! I was going to buy a metal "fid" to use to make eye-splices for a bridle, a winch rope extension and also some soft shackles using 3/8-inch 12-strand synthetic rope. The metal fids on Amazon for 3/8-inch line are expensive. I was happy to find that a pair of plastic knitting needles like you used in this video were less than 10 dollars. Got the Wright Products/Boye Jumbo Plastic Knitting Needle Pair 14"-Size 19/15mm from Amazon today and cut off the ends. Perfect fit for 3/8-inch.
Well done Michael excellent explanation
Thank you
Superior demonstration! Thanks!
Very interesting, quite a bit cheaper than the ready made versions. Congrats on hitting 50k, the way the channel is going you should be catching the big channels up in the not too distant future.
Your tables are amazing. Handmade !👍
Another great video mate. Cheers!
Wow, great video. Very impressive!
Love stuff like this, and they look pretty cool
Great skills and knowledge, and nothing virtual about it!😉
best video out there. easy to follow. fyi-push down on the tip of the marker to get the paint flowing. don't push on it on the rope or you'll make a mess. do it on the side somewhere.
Wow, very impressive demonstration, thank you for sharing. Very much enjoy your pleasant presentation style.
We lost a hero when this man stopped showing us his skills....Godspeed brother.
Great vid Mike , nice and slow, informative, congrats on 50k sub, looking forward to videos, cheers buddy
Nice one Micheal clever man. 👍😎
Thanks for sharing this. Lucky I've got a winch rope I can cut up. I don't think I'd use them for a snatch recovery but a low load winch recovery they would be perfect
Liked this so much, I subscribed.
Love your videos mate.
I reckon you must smile in your sleep!
Wow this was so interesting and educational!
Great tutorial, thanks!
Thumbs up. Interesting to see how these are made.
Learn something every day.👍🏼
I made two out of some winch line I had laying around. They are the most used piece of gear I have now. Several pulls using a kinetic rope and used with my winch as well. Very well put together video and presentation. Thank you so much. I just now need to find some sheathing to put around them to help with fraying.
For sheathing try tubular webbing from someplace like REI.
How well does the doubled line work in the hole of the recovery ring?
@@SuperBardley it works good. Haven’t had any problems with them.
Oooh your mom is going to beat you with a cast iron skillet for cutting her knitting needles like that. 😂
Verrry informative
👍
Thank you
😊
you could use a Marlin spike use here in the states for rope work and sail making.. great video.. thanks for sharing
Good demo mate, thanks.
Pretty much identical to the soft shackles I make for the hammock and many of the same techniques as for the whoopie slings etc, just a different scale. Good stuff.
Not a different scale when you weigh as much as I do. :)
Very nice video, good teacher
Great video. Nice and clear. Thanks
Hi, Really enjoyed your videos, just a question, Where did you learn to do the Button Knot? Your way is absolutely brilliant and quick, wow! Thank you
u like a very good teacher !Thanks a lot !
Very cool,as I use them wheeling the Canadian bush.🤘
Mesmerising! You sure know how to use your hands. Near enough is not good enough, I note with joy.
Interesting video after all those knots I am going to avoid the headache just buy one
Good job mate well done
Great tutorial🤙
GR8 Vid..... talk about "Get Knotted" haha.... Congrats on 50K Following Michael :)
Great video
I've just finished the WA.NT series...I've officially watched all your videos and am sad there aren't more!
That is dedication! Thanks for checking them all out and posting your comments, they are always nice to read! 🙂 I will have to get into it and make more!
I hope you do, love your videos mate!
Amazing idea!!!
Good activity to do out bush!
Bloody love ya work fella🤘🏿 keep it up👍🏿🍻🇦🇺
Nice I wondered how to do this!
Thank you - great explanation!
Well done mate 👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺
I might try to make one. A little tricky. Thanks
I've seen the soft shackles with the black sleeve used many times. This video showed how the rope looped through itself on the end works to tighten against itself.
Thanks mate great job
I could totally hang out with this dude
Hello super video!👍👏👏👏🇨🇿
Thanks for sharing. This is useful information to me.
Weekend Stuff
Really good explanation of making a soft shackle. 👏🏼 👏🏼. I have a question. This is a double loop. How do you make a single loop soft shackle.
I could look for a video, but you are my go to shackle guru.
Wait can you do that one more time?!?!?! That was very helpful!!!! Than you very much!!!!
Too cool, great job
Awesome video
Nice job
Good stuff as always mate
I definitely wont be trying this at home, 100% knot, possibly, maybe, just one.........or two. Who am i kidding, I'll make half a dozen.👍👍
You related to Spandy Andy? Your a spitting image!!
Thx. Hope life is going well for you
First time watching your videos, excellent informative. Where do you get those big knitting needles.
its also handy to know how to make one for 'just in case' you destroy or lose one.
Could actually be a life saver knowing how to create one.
Great presentation bloke.
Cheers for sharing.
Love it. Thanks for not being irresponsible. I will have a go for another project. HAHAHAHA
No idea how I came across your videos, but I do enjoy watching. You are very entertaining. 👍 and subscribed. Where did you get that hat?
Congratulations on 50K Sub mate :D :D
This is helpful, this soft shackle cost a fortune in my country
So simply clever‼Such an easy way, but yes, I know that hands must be get used to crafting.
Thank you. Great on the Brion Toss button knot. It should come out at around 230% of rated strength for the line. I assume it breaks at the loop. If instead a diamond knot is used the expected strength is about 170%, requires a hard knot, and breaks at the knot. I think that with smaller shackles, hardening is will improve performance, although not as much needed as with diamond knot.
This is awesome 💪😎👌👍
Outstanding
OUT BLOODY STANDING🍻
Very cool! Subbed! Thank you!
great job :)
