Hi guys, today I bring Persona 5 to the M1 MacBook Air thanks to the RPCS3 Emulator. Unfortunately the game ins't enjoyable since it renders at around 10 to 20 FPS depending on areas, however it is amazing to see this game, that is actually out for PS4, running on the base model MacBook Air. *Important update* New official version of RPCS3 has been released. Now with this version and some customized settings I'm able to play Persona 5 at 720p or 1080p with good FPS average (from 30 to 60 FPS in most cases, down to 20-25 only in places full of stuff and people but still playable) using the basic model of MacBook Air M1 (8-core CPU, 7-core GPU, 8 GB RAM). To achieve this result, you have to change some CPU's settings: right click on the game, select "Change Custom Configuration", then in CPU tab set *SPU XFloat Accuracy* to "Relaxed XFloat", *SPU Block Size* to "Mega" and *Preferred SPU Threads* to "2" (remember to save the changes before closing!). Then to enable 60 FPS, right click on the game, select "Manage Game Patches", click "Download last patches" and then select the game and click at 60 FPS. If you want to play 1080p (which gives you a little FPS reduction, but very playable) you have to go in the GPU tab (not CPU this time), and set *Resolution Scale (Disable Strict Mode)* to "150%": in this case you can have some upscaling issues, so you have to install another patch (following this link: wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?title=Persona_5 at the section "Dialog Portraits with Resolution Scaling"). @@derekshahrasebi You're welcome. I add one thing: the rest of configuration is the default one! Anyway in case it works for you too, you can do a video about it (maybe with other games with optimized custom configuration) so more people can enjoy this great game even with basic M1 chip.

The fact that this game is even playable at 30fps on the base 7-core GPU is amazing! Can't wait to see more since there's not many UA-camrs creating emulation content for Mac and especially for the 7-core model since many people get the 8-core GPU it's nice to see the base level of power the M1 has.
Can you run Dolphin or the Dreamcast Redream emulator at 4K resolution with the 7-core GPU? I have seen the 8-Core M1 able to run Dreamcast and GC games at true 4K which is awesome, though with these iMac/Macbook IPS retina screens, emulators running games at 1080p or 1440p still looks so crisp and colourful!
Hey buddy! thanks for stopping by one again! Luckily I do have a 4K monitor, and on my channel there's a playlist with footage from the Dolphin Emulator, however resolution is set at 2560x2112 on most games. I did find many of them really fun to play, with so many titles for the GameCube! I'll try 4k resolution and see what comes up. @@derekshahrasebi Oh silly me I didn't see those whoops haha, that's awesome it's good to know that the CPUs are the same it's just the GPU has 1 less core so I can kinda guess how the new iMac M1 base model will run them.
@@dee4doa No worries! The M1 is a beast, taking into account that all of this is translated via Rosetta 2. I remember swapping my 2019 MBP for the 2020 M1 MBA, and after a few weeks, realizing it was leap years ahead in performance. Specially the MacBook Air, which has no fan and weighs slightly over 1Kg.
This machine is so powerful that I can stream to Twitch with a 1080p60fps cam, USB Condenser Mic, and the Capture Device (also 1080p60fps), all connected vía 1 USB-C dongle (including gigabit ethernet adaptor), with headspace for more. It was impossible to do that on my 2019 MBP.

Already runs MUCH better thanks to llvm and on disk shader cache being fixed. Works awesome even on the air

This already kinda outdated lol. The game runs SO much better thanks to things like on disc shader cache and llvm. So I'd reccomnd downloading the latest version (can link for anyone that wants) it works much better and you can optimise settings as well for an increase in performance (eg it runs this at 45-60 fps consistently at 1080p, on the 2020 Mac Pro)

For the Mac one the Dev Nas is in it and they regularly talk bout rpcs3 I get all my infro from there and Nas puts stuff there too so Id reccpmend you join for rpcs3 mac
