    Backstory:
    UPS is a place that has been continuously recommended to me by my peers. He simply said, you throw boxes into a trailer for a few hours and you're out. Having previous experience working at a factory, it shouldn't be bad at all. I applied and low and behold, I got the interview. The rest of the process was explained in the video. Make sure you like, comment, and subscribe if you enjoyed what you saw!

      I mean you still gotta train specifically bro to get a good physique. Pure packaging wont cut it as overtime youll get too accustomed to thei weight and everything and youll remain the same. Train the same remain the same like they say. You still gotta do your compound lifts, bodyweight exercises like pushups, pullups, burpees, lunges, dips, leg raises etc. To gain noticeable muscle strength and definition. Thats why some construction workers still look big and as if they are in bad shape. It really depends on your goals doe. Just saying ups wont give you the benefits that REAL exercise will. And if you dont wanna go to a gym theres also something called CALISTHENICS. Calisthenics is pure body movements which is enough to actually give you a good physique and awesome skills while youre at it (muscle ups, handstand, front and back lever, planche,human flag, etc). And you can gain all these skills by just practicing at home.

      I am a woman who once worked in warehouse shipping. It's more than a "work out." If you go to the gym and feel too sore for the next day's work out, you can skip a day. But on a job, you MUST perform. On jobs like these, people's bodies start to wear out and they start missing days. Eventually the quit or get fired. That is why there is high turnover with these kinds of jobs.

    $7.50 is the lowest minimum wage. In South California it's around $10-$13 depending where you live. LA is $13-$15. In San Francisco it's $15($13-$14 for some). In Stockton, where I'm at, most are $10, some are $11-$12. Only the High school kids gets about $8-9 and maybe even $10 depending on the job position.

    I have an interview scheduled for next week. I'm sort of disappointed they pay minimum wage. You would think that a company like UPS would pay a little better than Walmart lol I know people will argue that warehouse work does not require higher education but that doesn't mean that very hard physical work should be underrated especially when you consider what it does to your body over time. Also, most places will only schedule you a minimum of 4 hours per shift I need at least that to make the gas money worth it. A 50 cent pay raise is the same amount Walmart offers after a year of employment. I can't believe that a company that is UNIONIZED are working people less than four hours a day and paying people MINIMUM wage. When its hard enough to pay your rent you now have to pay union dues on your min wage? OH LAWD I think I may withdraw my application now. Had no idea it was this bad. Thank you for posting!

    I worked at UPS as a package handler for about a year. You dont get anything benefits, sick days, holiday pay until you reach your one year mark. I like working there but since im only 19 working there for only $10.50 wasnt worth it to me until i found a better job with just as good benefits at $13.50/hr. At ups i had only got about 3-5 hours a week (5 days). I wasnt bringing much money in a week. They go by seniority there so if you want combo which will get you about 8 hours a day of work is about a 5+ year wait where im located. I couldnt wait that long so i left. Ups is a good job if you want to have money every week but i dont think itll be worth waiting years to start making some more money. I would prefer to look else where but thats just my opinon.

    Hey I was wondering do you get paid weekly or every two weeks and how much per hour?

    • @AkemiLife
      @AkemiLife  7 років тому +1

      Hey QuickSilver!
      The payment schedule may vary based on location but I get paid once a week on Thursday nights leading up to Friday morning. You have the option of getting a check or direct deposit. I chose direct deposit for convenience. However on the first two weeks, your pay will be processed via check which you have to pick up from the office. I was not notified of this until I asked my coworkers.
      As for the pay, for my state if you are a part-time package handler like a loader, sorter, or unloader, you'll make minimum wage with healthcare and pension benefits which is $11. The benefits come after 400 hrs of service. However, since I am working full time as a summer temporary, I do not need the healthcare and pension benefits so my pay is a flat $18.75 per hour. Also keep in mind that you'll be paying off the dues for the union from each check which will be an additional $150~$500 over time depending on your state.
      As for a tip, make sure you ask your coworkers/supervisors/managers if you have any questions regarding the job. I learned a lot of things from my coworkers that I didn't get from the training. If your body physically can't handle packages, make sure you ask coworkers for help and also keep yourself hydrated.
