Day one really wasn't that bad. The training sessions and classes are to help us to mentally prepare for the work that's going to come. This full time shift is summer temporary meaning it'll only be for the duration of my summer before going back to school.
Did not know you couldnt record inside the workplace. R u kidding me right now
Got a job as a preloader during COVID because my regular job laid me me off. On my FIRST day UPS gave 2 trucks to load with absolutely no training. Luckily my regular job called me back and I only had to work there for 6 days. I don’t mind working hard but NO training? It’s stressful as hell.
Whatever y’all do just don’t work preload/sunrise shift you’re gonna stress yourself out
package handlers entry position starts at 13.25 now. but great but if you put in the years and eventually get a higher position or do combos the benefits and retirement and decent pay is well worth it when it comes to a career. best time to get in is your early 20s
sooooo, i unloaded brown trucks for a month then realised i was going to expand a hernia hole so and said im making shit money doing shit labor i know my worth so i left. i have more free time but better so i know im not damaging my body and have some self worth and more ability than moving boxes like a human robot that runs on pennies and water
This is extremely helpful thanks
how do you survive the night shift? Simple, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
I did my first day it didnt seem too bad but my back is sore lol
First day my man work there a bit longer and you're eyes will be opened, Good Luck.
I've worked at UPS for four days so far my second day i got promoted to a sorter, now i get paid 11 an hour.
FaithlessShadowFall nice job! If you keep it up you'll get used to it =). I'll be posting my one month update very soon
FaithlessShadowFall that's minimum wage here at wa 😏
Hernandezboy unload/preload starts at 10.50/hr here in Sacramento. Lol.
FaithlessShadowFall Philadelphia starts at 11
Honestly that's a joke considering the amount of work they make you do and how the management treat you and especially if it's overnight. Those hours alone will wreck your health never mind the back problems you'll get from trying keep up the pace 5 nights a week. If you're into sports or working out you can forget about it. I worked there as a graveyard shift unloader for one month found another job related to what I wanted to do career wise and got the hell out of there asap
I start on Wednesday, I'll be a package handler also
Michael Quillen I'm starting today.. any advice
I'm thinking of applying for seasonal and hopefully full time. How did it go for you guys? What are the requirements?
xefeckt Gaming do u still work there
NewMediaTv bet money he hated it and quit by now unless you're a truck driver and have sold your soul already UPS is basically slave work
xefeckt Gaming Here's some advice. Find another job.
Did my first day unloading twilight. It should be only for a month or so before i get i to sort.Ya it wasnt easy but it really wasnt bad. Im not going to lie i do seem to recover faster than others and im somewhat atheltic but aslong as you use the equipment work as smart as you can snd stay hydrated keep a good pace you should be fine. Im not even sore, but hey every1s different i too have been thrown into sort which is kinda lucky becuase i have a small hernia and shouldent be lifting from the floor they needed people in sort with zipcodes hopefully my strength i can pass the test and go through with the extra dollar. Its not going to be easy but thats why you dont see many young drivers or supervisors where the money is and the ones who stick around for a year or a few and get full medical and eventually retirement along with decent to good salary... orr you can find somthing else. My supervisors are cool and hardly working never got any1 no where good
Not throw, place remember hand to surface! 😁
Brian 88 nobody follows hand to surface 😂
I had a interview a week ago haven’t heard anything yet🤷🏽♀️
This was the worst and hardest job I’ve ever had
I am a package handler too. I am doing sun set til morning. and I am trying to study all the paper work and protocols (osha) but I am struggling to adjust staying up that late. I already forgot where I have to be tonight, but I know it's primarily. The people were nice, but I got leered constantly and stalked by two guys already for being the new girl...so I am already feeling uncomfortable. I do intend to work here for a while, but if it's really bad, i'm going to have to find a better job. Anyone (girls especially) first month was easy? Are they hard on you? I can handle work, but if they are expecting me to know all the coordinates by heart in no time, know how to operate the machines in no time, and sexual harassment...then maybe this isn't the place for me. I won't tolerate that
I'm a girl... Look out don't trust the sups! & Don't make eye contact with the men
@Matt Cola props to me for working there ? Or props to the men if they smash?
I have an interview today help me out
Be sincere in why you want to work there and understand that you'll be lifting heavy every shift. That way you'll be fine!
Do they give u a vest
Does ups have metal detectors
Yes
@Daniel L 🤣
how long did it take them to hire you after your interview
Less than a week!
Akemi i applied 2 days ago now im waiting
Me two weeks

Quick question i work at ups i was working in a trailer with somebody we filled it up and then the trailer left but the boxes kept coming and the supervisor told me to take the boxes down but it was so many they were falling down outside and i almost fell backwards and there was barely any space what do i do in that position
Danny G boxing quite you’re not a slave

I had two one for package handler and one for driver assistant I didn't get either from what I was told and know I'm glad I didn't it seems like a load of crap ups can kiss my butt I'll go to USPS or FedEx before I try them again
i just wanna work the sunrise shift at like 4am as a summer job as it allows me to train for sports and enoy my summer ays, do u recommen this as a summer job?
Are the quizzes hard?
how old are you..I'm 19 and I want to work there
I was 19 when I started
Akemi is the majority of the people working there old?...
were you the only young man there??
@@dbricksawc3634 not at all! There are a lot of young people there since they recruit often
How long did it take for them to respond to you
do you think a older guy like me , at 70 can handle it ?
Johnny Laredo I know you asked the guy in the video but I'll answer at age 70 its not likely. I mean it's going to be a lot of wear & tear on your body because entry level people are put to work. And I mean REALLY put to work and you have a time gap you're supposed to have all your work done by so you'll be scrambling and rushing 5 days a week for a scrawny paycheck every week. If you have heart problems or high blood pressure don't waste your time. The job isn't worth you getting a heart attack. Sometimes you may need help with something and there's no guarantee you'll get it instead the supervisor (idk why but they all tend to be assholes no matter who it is) may just casually stroll by and tell you to hurry up so that the quota can be met for the day
Nope
Do you have 2 wear steel boots on the first day??????
Yeah you do!
Helpful! Did they drug test? Seems like the hiring process in laid back but firm
I wasn't received a drug test but I'm not sure if this is congruent across all UPS locations.
Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply! I am not so much worried about the drug test but moreso' how fast the hiring process is?
Thanks in advance!
Usually they're looking for workers so don't be surprised if you come into the shift the day of!
I thought you were a black girl in the thumbnail
Same LOL
Did they drug test you anytime you were there ?
What other options are there for package handlers besides being a sorter?
Hi! Besides being a sorter there is also loader and unloader. I wasn't given a choice with my job though.
Yvonne Hurlbert you have to qualify to be a sorter and it’s a dollar an hour raise other then that it’s loading and unloading but they promote from within
What's the age required to work at ups?
In my area, you have to be 18 or older.
Akemi what state are you in?
