Started working at UPS in 2012. Just wanted to say UPS has a long list of companies that give their employees discounts. For anyone looking to work at UPS please get a pair of steel toe boots for your own protection. I was able to get a pair of Wolverine steel toe for around $80 and they lasted a long time.

I started there in 1988 loading package cars during peak season. I was responsible for loading 5 package cars, approximately 1500-1600 packages within a 4 hours time span 5 days weekly. I became a part time supervisor in early 1989 and lasted there until 2000. The abuse and, intimidation of employees was like nothing you would ever expect. I used their student loan program and got the hell outta there once I realized that I had no chance for advancement. I wasn’t willing to join the good ole boy network that existed there. The internet is not big enough for me to list the things I witnessed during my time there. And, the list would not be good.
I just started the package handler position last week and quickly noticed a bunch of my coworkers are overgrown children looking to put others down. I think they're purposely doing something to give me misloads and the supervisors aren't around to keep their workers in check. Got anything to share of how to deal with such a toxic workplace? I'm willing to tough it out for a driver position. Or is it possible to transfer to another local location perhaps?
Was a fifteen year waiting list to become a driver back when I worked there in the early 2000’s bust my ass there for three years and even was a drivers helper every rush season …. I moved when I got married and gave a two weeks notice and everything tried to get hired on at the new one down where I lived wouldn’t hire me but would hire good old boys if u know what I mean
I started par time at ups, worked 14 months at that, then got promoted to package car, 7 years later I moved on to Feeders (18 wheelers) spent 30 years there. I retired with a nice pension. Job is difficult initially, but gets easier the longer you're there. Not everyone is cut out for that job. By the way, I have never heard any UPS facility called a warehouse. Nothing gets stored there.
Nah for me I did orientation and went straight into loading a trailer Boss would get mad when I would ask a question if I didn’t know something, day after that they have me doing metals I understand 60% of it figuring it out on my own but when I wasn’t sure about something I asked the boss and got a rude answer about it definitely a seniority based job
Just cus ups works out for SOME people doesn’t mean it will work for EVERYONE.
