I'm not sure the guy I married would fit DSM criteria for being a narc but I'm pretty sure he is. As a professional liar and with an ego as big a planet earth he would never subject himself to such scrutiny to even be diagnosed. Living in hell for 15 years taught me alot and feel very blessed to have gotten out. Thank you dear for teaching me more 💙🙏🏻

Your experience is valid! You know more about it than any armchair psychologists out there, you lived with the person. Sometimes people have a lot of narcissistic traits but not quite enough for a full on diagnosis of narcissistic personality disorder.

    Nice!!!
Soooo wanted to see this! Oh and WHY didnt you tell me that DBT was born out of CBT? I always thought they were two competing schools of thought. Boo hiss I wanted the idea that there was a steel cage match going on between some therapists over this stuff....oh maybe there still is. I was going to try to work all the criteria into a single comment, but, I really dont want to make light of the subject. Why do you suppose they dont include non Traditional (eg covert, closeted, introverted) narcissists in their write up? Lack of consensus?

Hi Kristen! Thank you for educating us on the traits. Did you ever read "The Wind in the Willows" as a child? I read it again in a college course where we were analyzing children's books through a few interdisciplinary lenses. Mr. Toad is a great character example of a narcissist. Of course children will most likely never pick up on that. I can't say I enjoyed the book as a child or an adult! 😂 Whenever I hear the term narcissist I think of Mr. Toad. I hope you're having a great day!

Thank you for the recommendation!!! I read it as a kid but it's been YEARS, so never through that lens. I will give it a re-read. Thank you!

@@KristenMelinda47 you're welcome Kristen. I'm not sure I'd recommend it as I didn't like it, but it is interesting to look at the characters. I forget a lot of the analysis since college sadly.
