Glock 22 .40SW police trade in project Custom Glock 9mm with Mass Driver Comp

- I bought a Steel City Arsenal some time back for a Glock 17 9mm frame with an RMR cut. After finishing up my AR projects I shifted focus on this custom pistol project. I found a great deal on a .40 SW Glock 22 and set out to finish my project. I recently found the Strike Industries Mass Driver Comp and installed it for a later review.
I messaged Strike Industries about when they would release a Mass Driver Comp for the Glock 22/23, and this was their reply:
“Not at this time but the G17 can work if you are willing to try it. We do not support 40 cal but the MDC bore is big enough for 40 cal
Half the G22 users say it works out of the box. The others say they had to get a different guide rod spring weight.”
I kinda want to try it, but at the same thing I am having second thoughts
This is how I run my 17 now... Only difference is the r.m.r I run a holoson , and a surefire x400 light. I love that two tone look, Thanks for the video.
You’re welcome, I like the two tone as well. The way I see it, you run with what you like and what you can afford.
I just changed my Glock 23 .40sw to a 9mm using a storm lake conversion barrel.
I’m going to double undercut that as well and then post a video showing that with the mass driver comp for a Glock 19, it’s the stock slide so it was a simple bolt on. I want to compare these two and see how they rate.
@@kenmedina7762 I agree, how do you like your impact driver so far?
Adam Weatherall I’ll let you know how they both compare with the G17 to the G19 mass drivers. So far I’m a fan of the G17
@@kenmedina7762 Looking forward to the video, thanks for the response, I hope you have a good one.
I was looking at the same comp. I have a g23 with a KKM 40-9 conversion barrel which turns my g23 into a g19, basically. I emailed Strike, but they said that conversion wouldn't work for their comp. Glad I found your video. Guess the guy on the phone didn't know what he was talking about. Also, the guy at Strike said that they were doing a recall on all their comps sold in the last three months. Maybe look into that.
Probably a warranty, safety disclaimer. I have a G23 with a Stormlake conversion barrel from .40sw to 9mm it’s all good. Yet I will say this check the twist rate. I’m going to get a factory G19 slide and barrel and call it a day and just keep the conversion barrel. I got these at the end of last year so I’m not sure if it’s a tooling issue, or a certain run. I’ll definitely check it out thanks for the heads up
Will the comp work with 40s&w I’ve seen a guy use it with no problem but just wondering if anyone else has tried it
I’ve only used with 9mm calibers
Brrro i have a 22 40 cal gen 3 wat do you recomend i use for the mass drive im trying to make it compatable or do youst recomend i buy a 17 is there really andifference in keeping the bottom peace would it make it a lot easier if I get the Glock 17 and I know you mentioned that we can get it directly through strike where is it that they send or Sell the mass driver
wolf Wolfica it depends what you’re looking for in my opinion. I like .40sw be it a G22 or a G23. For this project I wanted a G17 9mm as the options for custom slides and comps are more plentiful. For home/self defense I use G21 45acp and a G26 9mm for CCW. The G17 9mm, G22 .40sw, share the same frame it’s the slides, barrels, ejectors, and magazines that are different. You could literally go find a conversion barrel and call it a day from .40sw to 9mm. Then run the mass camp no problem. I don’t run comps on defensive pistols. That’s my opinion. I picked up my mass drivers from primary arms website and had them delivered
@@kenmedina7762 thank you mr. Medina lll be sure to soke the knowledge in of course once changing the 40 cal into a 9 do we need to report it to the doj
I was about to go spend on a 9 but if i can swap 22 slide to a 17 and a 40 call to a 9 then shit ill save the kiesh lol
@@kenmedina7762 but for some one basic like myself it seems like alot of work to replace all that shit lol
wolf Wolfica I’m not an attorney but I’d say no the caliber change does not need to be updated with the DOJ. In the US the frame/receiver is classified as the firearm .
Does the mass driver work with 40sw or is it just 9mm?
I’ve only used with 9mm calibered pistols
@@kenmedina7762 right holding the one u just got up to a glock 22 barrel the opening is wider than the barrel so the bullet ....should...go through fine. I just don't see anyone saying they have done jt
@@Kay_G the mass driver actually moves back and forth with some side to side rocking deflection, as it isn’t fixed on the Gen 3s.
Manufacturer says it’s for 9mm so I stick with that, I hear what you’re saying. I stick with what is recommended for the caliber of any muzzle device be it a pistol or rifle.
I just message Strike Industries on Instagram about them releasing one for the G22, and this was their reply:
“Not at this time but the G17 can work if you are willing to try it. We do not support 40 cal but the MDC bore is big enough for 40 cal
Half the G22 users say it works out of the box. The others say they had to get a different guide rod spring weight.”
Kind of want to try it to be honest.
Just suscribed by the way
wolf Wolfica thanks
Trying todo the same thing. Get the cheapest police trade it and get all the other parts new.
Let me know how the project is going, and post some videos so I can see.
